didn't catch any games last night - but brandon roy put up another great stat line and I saw that lebron dunk on sportscenter - amazing - he also had a strong game leading them to the W

Anybody who watches Pac 10 ball isn't surprised that Roy can ball but I am surprised how quickly he's taking over that team. Against the Warriors he was not only running the offense a lot, they used him as a defensive stopper rotating him from Baron to Monta as they heated up. Just a terrific young player, I thought he was the biggest impact guy in the draft all along because he was so ready but he looks even better than I thought. Not a great game the next time out but still pretty good.

I went to a Big East school (Cincinnati) and so have not seen much of Roy at all. I watched quite a bit Morrison because of how popular he was his last season. Because my univ got a surprise snub in the NCAA tourney, I refused to watch the tournament.

My brother-in-law couldn't stop talking about this guy Brandon Roy back then. He kept saying that this kid should be the player of the yr. Now I know this guy really is that good. To think Redick walked away with the honors!

Roy for R.O.Y!

I've heard from numerous sources now that he is the kind of class act that will help the Blazers in the lockerroom as well. I couldn't be happier with the Blazers right now. Kind of dreading the return of Miles though.
I want Randolph to play his way to trade bait status and he seems to be so far:D

Anybody else getting some satisfaction from Seattle destroying the Lakers (so far)?

93 to 68 Seattle so far, with 1:30 left in the 3rd quarter.

Seattle handed the Lakers their first loss 117-101.
did anyone catch the game on LP? kb had 15 pts, 9 assts. smush had 0 assts! was the former playing 'facilitator' on his team?

Sloppy game by the Lakers who couldn't hold on to the ball, couldn't shoot and overpassed a ton. At least Kobe's knee is looking better than the last game. Seattle shot 55% and 65% from three, while Lakers shot 45 percent and 30 percent from three, yet were jacking up threes all the first half, even when they had a big lead. They led by 10 at one point, but just kept chucking. It was a very ugly basketball game. Bynum looked great though.

they led by 10 because of chucking - made their first 7 shots and had 21 points 5 minutes into the game

then it settled down and seattle clamped up on defense, pressed them and was able to move the ball well

the sonics looked good tonight (and really have looked decent all year) - they slept a little in the 4th, but were able to pick it up again (something they didn't do when they lost to portland)

ridnour is off to fantastic start and wilcox is playing well and appears to be carrying over the momentum from last year

was also nice seeing all the 40 year clips & interviews

YEah Roy is a great kid. He filed for the draft out of HS but pulled out, I forget the details something like he went to some camp and discovered that while he was all everything in HS, he was nothing special at the camp. So he went to UW and because of the way the rules were, he wasnt' allowed to test the waters because he'd essentially already done it out of HS. So he went from a kid who probably would have had a very short career to a guy who fully evolved as a player at UW, just a complete player.

Marques Johnson does a ton of Pac 10 games on TV, ex UCLA player, longtime NBA guy and he was saying from Roy's freshman year on he was the best NBA prospect in the conference. By the time he was a senior you'd have thought "B Roy" was his son or something. Marques is typically quite the UCLA homer so for him to go that overboard about a kid on a rival team tells you what kind of kid Roy is.

Yeah, at least we can be thankful we're not the Mavs, who are currently on a 7 game losing streak(including the finals).

Dallas 0-3 and going to play at the Clippers and at Phoenix back to back in their next 2 games.

I don't like how that sets up for us - I can just see us being the team that gives Dallas its first win and allows them to score 120 points.

Anyone following Channing Frye... he seems to be doing badly so far this year, and I'm wondering if there's some reason for that. Quentin, on the other hand, is putting up decent numbers.

Looking at the GS-Dallas box, I noticed that Beidrins started at center... second game that he has that I've seen.
Baron Davis must be very healthy - he played all 48 minutes. Monta Ellis, G, got 31 minutes and Richardson played pretty heavy minutes too (IIRC) so Nelson must have gone small a fair amount... okay not small by Phoenix standards.

Utah beat Detroit tonight to go to 4-0... Boozer and Okur both went 20 & 10 against a fairly good defensive front line. And Rasheed went 41 minutes with only one technical foul!

I had the privilege of watching the Knicks play the Spurs today. Frye looked totally out of sorts. He passed up a couple of open shots and looked extremely tentative for the time he played. He seems very low on confidence right now.

I don't recall seeing him play even a minute in the second half.

Brandon Roy could be hurt, left the game saying he has a bone near his achilles that is so painful he can't play. Played through it a few games, now going for an MRI. hope he's ok, injuries suck, especially for young guys.

Anybody else think the NBA is WAY overreacting early in the year with all the T's and ejections? I don't mind cracking down but they're going overboard on it from what I can see.

It's a Catch-22, if the officiating was better all around, there wouldn't be a need for the new Technical foul rule. Instead, it's the same old thing, except now the officials have even more power.

Yeah, they're going overboard but they think they need to firmly establish the rule - and IMO, they're right. Players will always push the limit of what the refs tolerate, and to me zero tolerance is about the right level. All the pissing and moaning on the floor before was detrimental to the game.

the sonics fall to 1-3 after dropping yet another game that they had a comfortable late lead

ray allen misses two free throws on two separate trips with less than a minute left - the last miss keeping it a 2 point game and allowing the posey 3 to give the heat a one point lead - then wilkens slips on a wet spot driving the baseline and falls which led to a jump ball - wade makes 2 free throws and then wilkins misses a wide open 3 that would of tied it up

this team is killing me - hopefully they can get it together and learn how to close out these games - could very easily be 4-0

i also watched this game opposed to what appeared to be a very good atlanta/cleveland game

The kid has a smoothness in movement. footwork, and handling the ball along with agility that is uncommon for a young big guy. I like him better than any frontcourt player in last years draft. Obviously Kareem has worked with him with some success.

Bynum looks terrific. Want to see another young big guy coming into his own check out Andris Biedrins of the Warriors. He's now 17-21, 81% from the floor on the year. Mostly dunks or layups of course but he's really improved at finding the open spot so he can get the pass. Had 6 blocks in the loss last night as well. Still needs to get a lot stronger but really looks to be improved so far this year.

Not at the level Bynum is at though.
