Baron Davis was scintillating ont he warriors 117-105 victory over the Kings. His line was 36 points 18 asst 8 rebounds 3 steals. If Davis continues this kind of play he'll be real tough. I watched most of the game and Davis looked unguardable, he was so quick and strong off the dribble. Michael Petrius was also 12-16 fg's with 26 pts for the Warriors.

.

Have to give Nellie credit, he made Baron get in shape and he actually did this time. nellie told him if you want to play for me, get in shape, and Baron took it seriously. He's visibly slimmer this year and it's showing in his minutes.

Still drives me nuts with shot selection at times but he's killing teams this year, they're posting him up and he's going right over the top of people.

Even Dunleavy is starting to play well.

surprised to see no mention of the ass-whooping the Knicks gave the Heat. yeah, Shaq wasn't playing, but still you shouldn't stink so bad. the heat had just 3 players in double figures!

looks like Miami never had/wanted a homecourt advantage at all. :p
--they won the championship w/o it
--2 blowouts this year at home (42 pt CHI, 24 pt NYK)
--they're 2-4 at home so far

Boy! The Lakers are beating the Clippers 83-74. Whats with the Lakers this year. They seem like a team of scrubs (Bynum doesn't count as a star. he's just developing) around Kobe and Odom but they're playing great basketball thus far.

update: The Clips came from behind to tie the score with 5-6 mins left. But the Lakers just made a nice run to outplay the Nail Clippers.
98-91, 1:20 to go.

next update: The Lakers dumped on the Clippers to close out the game. Kobe made a superb 360 spin to complete a layup. This was followed by some vintage Suns style ball movement that ended in Walton's trey from the baseline. I hate these guys but have to admit that the few times I've watched them play, the ball movement has been pretty impressive.
Lakers 103-96

Fantastic game for Kobe, the rest of the team looked terrible. Kobe shot 52% for 40 points...the team as a whole shot 37 percent. Yuck.

Blew the 13 point lead with a minute left in the third by going scoreless for 7 straight minutes and getting down three. Missed a ton of free throws, shooting 67% from the line. Lamar was 6-18 and 4-10 from the line.

Lakers defense was swarming all over the court, forcing 20 turnovers to the Lakers 14.

Oh, and Tim Thomas got booed roundly at Staples. :D

Lakers move to 8-3 on the season and recapture first place in the Pacific Division. Up next a tough road game in Utah on Friday.

JR Smith ripped the bulls for 36 points last night in a Denver win. He was 5-11 from 3 point range and 13-24 overall from the field. I hate to see Denver get that kind of production out of the '2' position. If Smith can be consistent, the Nuggets could be a much better team this year as the '2' was their weakness last year. The western conference looks alot tougher this year:

1) spurs, Duncan is healthy, Ellison is more athletic than Mohammed

2) The Mavs are deeper with AJ and Croshere

3) The clips add TT subtract Radman, definitely a plus

4) Utah is completely different with Ronnie Brewer, AK47(healthy), Boozer, and WIlliams looks better at the PG than last year.

5) Denver(?) who needs KMart with Camby, Melo(much improved), Nene Healthy, and now Smith is showing signs of breaking out.

6) Lakers, one word, Bynum(Hope Kobe dominates the ball as the season progresses). I think Bynum is a good bet for most improved player.

7) Warriors, added Monta Ellis, a more fit Baron Davis, and this kid Biedrins looks really good.

8) The Rockets added Battier, a healthy McGrady, and Bonzi Wells getting into shape still.

9) The Hornets added Peja and Bobby Jackson

Its a whole new world in the west. I think any of these teams could be top 3-4 in the east.

The Utah Jazz came back from a 55-37 deficit against the Sacromento Kings. Ronnie Price had nasty dunk in that game

update: is anyone watching the SAS-DAL game? ridiculous call on Harris to give Duncan 3 FTs. props to Duncan though, for burying all 3 FTs.

A questionable call by Devin Harris on Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan was attempting to shoot a three and Devin Harris fouls him. Duncan hit all free throws and the spurs are trailing by one now.

ahhhh! horrible officiating! with 4 secs to go, Horry almost makes a 3 pt shot to win. The refs follow that up with a makeup call when Dirk molests Finley on defense, without any call .
Dal win 95-92 .

Didn't help them in the Finals last year when every single call went Miami's way, even the ones that didn't happen.

I think only the last 2 games of the Finals helped the refs the Heat - including those ridiculous 2 FT's by Wade which decided the series - though in game 3 Dallas got so many phantom calls they should have finished Miami.

They didn't help the Mavs. They helped the Spurs with that Harris foul on Duncan which didn't happen. That last one made up for it, the refs didn't favor either team.

Nuggets and Warriors went nuts on the offense side of the ball tonight, scoring 269 points combined.

Denver leads the league in Scoring, but they also have the worst defense in the league.

The Suns are competing for that title.

Lakers left that game in Utah, sadly. Would have been nice to grab that one on the road...thought they'd get it, but they just couldn't get a freaking rebound in the fourth.

Holy Schnikes! Iverson had 37 shot attempts and 12 free throws attempts in the 76er's loss to the Heat.
