There has been talk that Jamarcus Russell wants to make a comeback. I was thinking with our porous line and him weighing 308 pounds, he would be difficult to sack. What do you guys think?

I honestly wouldn't mind signing him, as any deal he signs will be a bottom salary contract. Let him compete for a job during camp. Wouldn't be 100% opposed, as long as his work ethic was right (which it never has been).

A waste of valuable snaps at TC (IMO)

Great solution IMO. With JRuss, we are guaranteed the #1 pick next year where we can draft a true franchise QB.

If would be difficult for him to do anything back there.

I'd like to see both! Burn the position to the ground, Nero-style!

I don't know, JaMarcus looks more like a tuba player to me. More likely, it goes down Donner Pass style and I get rich inventing the Where's Tebow game. Timothy, Joe was looking at you.

BigRedFan, Jamarcus Russell, thank goodness. I thought you were going to suggest, the Single Wing.

Our RB's can't stay healthy enough to run the single t. I wouldn't be oppose to it if our QB situation doesn't get better. Nothing like getting back to the basics.

Rather than refer to the single wing in a narrow sense, we really should define a broader category of direct-snap formations that feature running plays (off zone-reads, jet-sweeps or just plain straight runs by a deep back).

For example, the Pistol is similar to the old Steve Owens "A" formation spinner series and the Wildcat looks a lot like the old Double Wing or like the old Short Punt formation - only with the blocking backs split wide.

Actually, key features of the traditional Single Wing were an unbalanced line (with a weakside guard or tackle moving to the strong side of the center) and a "lopsided backfield (with more backs lined up on the strong side of the deep back). The resulting overload set up all kinds of double-team blocking opportunities. Weaknesses were that blockers had to sustain their blocks longer and plays were often vulnerable to LB's shooting the gaps.

In any case, I do think we'll continue to see a resurgence of deep-snap activity on offense. (But I do agree that teams moving in that direction better line up 4-deep in passing tailbacks (or running QB's) because of the pounding they'd have to absorb).

Well I think we have to look at JR? He was immature not skill less- people do grow up!
i still think Josh Mccown is better than DA, Hall, Lindley and Bartel - probably skelton and Kolb too!

Hoyer will get a look - better look than some may think at this time! Tom Brady he is not- but with a run game he could be effective. I think He may be the best QB we have. If we put him in and stuck with him.

Are the Jets serious? They have the Tebow issue and now this?

Jets have explored JaMarcus Russell
Former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell — widely considered the biggest bust in NFL draft history — recently shed weight and is attempting an NFL comeback.

The Jets need a quarterback. Russell was once a quarterback. And the Jets have explored the possibility of adding Russell to their offseason roster.
