The Pacers have inquired with the Suns about the availability of guard Goran Dragic, but the teams have yet to find common ground in negotiations, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com (Twitter link). The Pacers covet an upgrade at point guard, Stein tweets.

Pacers president Larry Bird said this spring that while he likes Hill, “you never know what’s going to happen this summer.” Stein points to the perception that Phoenix can’t afford both Dragic, who’s coming off a career year, and restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe, and though they certainly have enough cap flexibility to retain both of them for next season, Dragic can hit free agency in 2015 if he turns down his $7.5MM player option for 2015/16. A significant raise for him could prove a tight squeeze if the Suns and notoriously thrifty owner Robert Sarver want to avoid the luxury tax and keep alive their dreams of adding a superstar.

What would you guys want back in return?

The only interesting player on the Pacers is Paul George.

I don't even see 1 other player on the Pacers that would have positive value to the Suns.

Absolute bogus rumor because people still do not understand that we play Bledsoe and Dragic together because we want to, not because we have to.

Sarver payed tax 3 times..

It is bogus that the Pacers are trying to trade for him? That makes no sense at all based on your reasoning.

No way anything happens with this. Even if we lose Dragic when his contract is up, Dragic is on such a good contract right now we'd have to ride it out because his value is so high on such a great contract. Pacers have nothing to offer anyway.

They would have to offer George for us to even listen.
Maybe they want to dump salary to keep Stephenson and would rather have Lance and Dragic than George..

This will not happen. I agree the only thing they have thay would interest the Suns is George and they won't be trading him for Dragic.

Just because the Pacers want Dragic doesn't mean we don't.

This is a non-story.

Doesn't make sense at all. Not to mention, since we're going after Lebron, trading Dragic away would also hamper that.

Any picks from Indiana are going to be low picks.

Well there's this...perhaps someone on the Celtics?

Marc Stein

Whispers are already out there, @ZachLowe_NBA, about Indy trying to pull in Boston to construct some sort of multi-team deal involving Rondo

Zach Lowe

Pacers have little on the fringes to entice Phoenix on Dragic.Their interest, per @ESPNSteinLine, might hint at bigger discussions.

Also agree this is a non-story... unless there is a third team from Minnesota looking to move their PF, then I could see something interesting here.

Pass. Pacers have nothing that the Suns would want in return.

the only way I see this being in any way possible is if this somehow involved in a 3 way trade netting us Love.

Agreed and I don't see who the Twolves would want from Indy either. I think Indy called and McD said no thanks. Reporter decided he needed to tweet something and that's all he had.

I guess it got glossed over, but in one of the tweets, it hints at a three way trade. Indy-Bos-Phx

Names rumored. Dragic. Rondo.

Who else? No clue

But considering McD came from Boston, I almost wouldn't be surprised if McD wanted Rondo, Indy got Dragic, and who knows what Boston gets.

Who knows how true any of this is, but I GUESS this is what they are hinting at.

I seriously doubt the Suns would have interest in Rondo. They are all about spreading the floor and having shooters on the court. Others may feel differently, but I would rather have Dragic or Bledsoe than Rondo. The Suns are probably looking for a spinoff player from such a trade.

Yeah, I am not even a Bledsoe fan, but I'd take him over Rondo at this point. Rondo is what he is. Bledsoe is as good as Rondo right now, and he may still get better.

As far as Dragic goes, there is nothing Indiana has that would be enough for Dragic, with the exception of Paul George, and there's no way Indiana would do that.

Indiana isn't a match for us, but I'd be intrigued to see what a package around Rondo would be...other than that, Dragic to Indy for pieces makes no sense. We have lots of pieces, we need stars.

I'm not saying I like it, and obviously more pieces would have to move around, just saying since we got McD from Boston, and I think I remember hearing he was the one instrumental in pushing for trading for Rondo from us to begin with, it makes sense from that standpoint.

I could see a possibility that McD might want to have Rondo rather then re-sign Dragic next year, and if he was going to ask Sarver to pay for an extension, he might rather pay Rondo, perhaps Rondo at that point is cheaper then Dragic.

Perhaps McD doesn't think Boston is using Rondo right, and thinks he'd fit in better here. I don't know. Maybe they feel it's a better sell to Lebron, who knows.
