Little surprised no one mentioned Chandler grabbing his 10,000 career rebound against the Pacers. He's the 40th player in NBA history to hit that mark. He's played in just 1,066 games in his career so he averages damn near 10 a game. You can tell he's not the player he once was but he still helps the Suns on the boards. I wish he was more of a rim protector. Player don't drive at him as often as they do Len or Monroe but Chandler rarely leaves his feet when he's contesting shots, or grabbing rebounds. His rebounding is good because of positioning but if he had any hops left in him he could probably lead the league in boards.
It's cool that Chandler is such a great rebounder. I just wish he could do something else. He rarely blocks shots or guards his man outside of 5 feet from the basket.

Seems to jump plenty high enough for alley oops. Not sure I would suggest he has no hops left.

With his standing reach, he doesn't need to jump much more than a foot to dunk it. I agree with PH that Chandler's jumping ability appears to be surprisingly limited now.

Except he skies above the rim on some of these alley oops, but maybe that is because he is getting a few steps to gain momentum into his jump. Where as on a defensive play he would have to jump with little momentum.

I know it looks like he gets up there on alley-oops and lobs but if you watch his legs he is jumping horizontally more than vertically. Doing that he knows more about the play, he needs to get to the rim and has a couple of seconds to get in position to leap towards the rim. Defensively he has to anticipate and jump at the right time to block shots. If he jumps at the wrong time his defender could blow past him. He's a smart player so staying put is probably better for guarding the rim than jumping and being out of position. Players will know they can pump fake him into biting and getting space or contact and attack that way. It's harder to attack him now since he's just reaching instead of jumping. He doesn't get stupid fouls that way, which is a good thing, and causes some to alter their shots to get more arc. He's just not the defender he was but he's still capable, just not a great rim protecter. His reputation and past keeps players from trying to score on him more than his current level of play.
