this is interesting

what this says to me ( and Urban says it in the link too)

this might be a "all-in" kind of two year run -- and that suggests an offseason a bit more aggressive than maybe we anticipated

i dont think you create a bunch of cap room now at the expense of dead money in two years if you are planning on, lets say, adding one name FA plus a few journeyman players this offseason

curious to see how it goes on March 10th

There is talk that Campbell could do an extension to alleviate some cap this year, Dockett is being talked to, and now this with Campbell.

It really does sound like they intend on going after someone big and I think they're expecting the cap to jump a significant amount in the coming years to offset some of this.

Does sound like an all-in move at least for upcoming season at a minimum.

Reported Carson talk is to convert his 9.5 roster bonus into a signing bonus which allows it to be spread over the contract.

Adrian Peterson......

He's not even available as of right now. I suspect they're thinking Justin Houston. What would be even crazier is if they tried to get Suh or for some crazy reason lock up Demaryius Thomas to replace Fitz eventually (highly unlikely)..

I hope you're ready to cough up 2 first rounders, though it might be worth it. There is no way the Chiefs don't tag Houston...this isn't the Raiduhs :D

The Cards blew it big time selecting Little kneeless & Rob nohandsler over Houston in that draft! The Human snail Graves...the gift that keeps giving & giving :mulli:

OLB Jason Worilds Steelers would make sense.

This would be my guess. He won't be franchised ala Houston, isn't over 30 like Hali, and is familiar with a 3-4. It also would allow us more flexibility in the first round of the draft.

I cant see Worilds unless they intend on using cap $ elsewhere too. He's not an elite OLB imo.. and likely wants too much $ for his production.

2 late round first rounders is easily worth an elite pass rusher.

Elite OLBs will not become free agents. I think they will not blow all their cap on one player but on several and Worilds would be a solid starter. But that is just my two cents.

Any healthy, quality QB's available this FA?

Not really anyone better than what we already have on the roster.

Iupati is interesting to me. Houston is a pipe dream, but I'd love it. Tamba Hali might be released, which I would jump on.

Arians and Keim have both said speed on D, stronger on O up front.

That's why I'd do a trade up for Shane Ray. I think he's going to be an elite pass rusher. But I could be wrong :D.

Maybe they are clearing cap space to keep Cromartie too. I think he was extremely valuable to the defense last year. To me, he was the DMVP of the Cards last year.

I really don't see Cro as part of this team next season. If all the prior statements made in other posts are true he and his wife have no great desire to continue to live in the valley of the sun. He is likely headed to the Jets and for some reason I don't think Philly is out of the question. The Eagles were CB poor last year. I think its more likely they make a run at a rush OLB or with all this talk about Dumpster Dan not being worth $3.5M they are looking at another FA NT. I think they definitely make a run at a guard and a possible ILB.

Elite pass rushers come on the market every 2-3 years. For some stupid reason, their team lets them go. See Demarcus Ware.

Paul Calvisi on the Doug & Wolf show this morning said that Palmer was not restructuring his contract. Said that there would be too much dead money put into the future. Cards feel that enough of that will happen with Fitz. Calvisi is the Cards sideline game reporter and has some good insight into their moves.

I agree , I believe they are planning to upgrade several positions rather than one big name player .
