Paul Calvisi on the Doug & Wolf show this morning said that Palmer was not restructuring his contract. Said that there would be too much dead money put into the future. Cards feel that enough of that will happen with Fitz. Calvisi is the Cards sideline game reporter and has some good insight into their moves.

Seems like it's a possibility if Urban is putting it on the company site:

2 late round first rounders is easily worth an elite pass rusher.

I would give up two first round picks for Justin Houston. I wouldn't give up two first round picks to trade up for Shane Ray (or any pass rusher in this class). I don't have the doubts that some have about Jason Worilds, especially when we don't have to give up draft picks to get him.

The questions are, is Houston 2 top 32 draft picks better than Worilds?

And, is it too risky investing all of that into one guy in Houston?

Finally, none of these impact the offense which has been what has held us back the past two years. Why not invest those resources into improving our worst unit?

Nope. You have to be elite in order to give up 2 top 32 picks and a big contract to a guy. Houston fits that bill. The only other pass rusher/defensive player that I would give that kind of deal to right now is Watt.

If this happens maybe Palmer just wants one last hurrah and doesn't plan on playing much beyond the next 2 years? Dude has been through injuries, serious rehab and put in a ton of work each time to return.

I doubt he will be here for more than another 2-3 years anyway, he is up there in age.
