Agree.

I will add this Russ. This team needs more LBs & defenders. Having to blitz almost every play puts so much stress on a defense & it's a bad matchup against Carolina & Seattle IMO, unless you can out score them.

Good call. It puts our CB on an island regardless if you have someone like PP or not. It seemed like we were getting burned by many over the middle dump passes. Maybe a better DL and some of those linebackers could stay at home?

I'm just wondering if you're keyboard is stuck and keeps typing mental midget or something.

He had a horrible game, we all saw it. he's not mental midget. Anybody that reads about Arians and how he coaches QB's can see that a mental midget could not have survived one season playing for Bruce Arians.

He played like crap today but you can't run this offense and be a mental midget.

Yep. He's a tough SOB who played great nearly all season. He was the top rated QB for most of the season. If Palmer wasn't on this team the Cards aren't even in the NFC Championship or vying for a Super Bowl.

Simply not true. There are tons of smart people that don't get it done when the pressure is cranked up. People fold under high pressure all the time. It doesn't mean he is not smart enough to run the offense. You are talking about two different things.

Also, he didn't just have a horrible game. He had one of the worst by any NFL QB in playoff history no?

So call him a choker not a mental midget. Mental midget to me implies he's not smart enough not that he choked.

The team fell behind and he tried to make plays that weren't there.

Easy to say but I think we win the game if PP doesn't fumble. We had momentum I think we score and go in 17-14. Even if they score the FG it's 20-14 when Palmer gets the ball back down 6, intead it was 27-7 down 20 and he started pressing.

The defense was gambling because of the big hole and they made us pay with big plays. The entire game fell apart because the way we play blitzing and throwing the ball deep, is tough to do down 20 points against that sort of team.

Said it all week, if we don't fall behind them we will win, we did, and we lost.

I think PP's fumble was it,.

The final score is what it is but if we aren't down 20 when we first get the ball for the 2nd half, we don't take nearly as many chances on both sides of teh ball.

That could be the worst playoff performance of all time. Wilson was down 31-0 and did not **** himself like that. More like the whole team knew the were done looking in his eyes. The guy sucked from snap one.

I"m going to have to say it's the finger but look guys.

I've said this many times before, Palmer is older and he gets hurt a lot. He looks great but fielding an oline that can keep him healthy seems beyond us all the way to a Super Bowl.

If you are going to have Carson Palmer then we need an all pro line or it's just a waste.

Yep this is an 8-8 team at best with Stanton at qb for example. Doesn't necessarily excuse Palmer's performance today but he had a great regular season, won a tough division, and won a playoff game so its not like were talking about Brian Hoyer or something here.

I take nothing away from him during the regular season. Nothing. I give him all the credit in the world for getting the Cards to the playoffs. I think he is a pretty damn good regular season player.

You will be hard pressed to find a choke job of this this epic proportion anywhere in the history of championship games.

This is seriously one of the worst QB performances I've ever seen period and as a long time Cards fan that is saying something.

Dude was great for 90% of the season...

...but dude just might be that regular season guy. He's got one (at most two) years to prove me wrong.

I thought it was obvious I was referring to his mental state come playoff time. Fair enough....choker works for me. Either way, I just wish the same guy that showed toughness in the regular season and the ability to shrug off some mistakes showed up today.

Biggest issue wasn't the injured finger, biggest issue was not adjusting the game plan to compensate for injured finger. Palmer throws into double coverage all the time and he can because he has great accuracy. But he can't do it now because finger affects accuracy. They're simply not going to find a better QB next year so there's no reason to harp on one game, no matter how big the stage.

Also, only his first INT was really a big deal. The other three came after the game was long decided, especially the last two.

Its obvious his finger was a bigger problem than the Cards let on. How many picks did he throw before the finger then after? I think it really limited him. He'll be fine next season.

Obviously, given how comprehensive this beating was, it's impossible to choose a single play, or even player, as the "turning point..." That said I would say that PP's fumble, followed by Carson's pick after PP's interception, were the two plays that hurt the most.
But again, when the entire team, with the once exception being DJ, chose to choke, it's pointless to try to choose which play/player hurt the most...

It's simple math. Palmer only has so many years left in him, and it took an act of God (Larry Legend) to get him his first playoff win. It would be irresponsible of Steve Keim to not think of the future, and after this cluster, it only makes it more pressing. Look at Green Bay drafting Rodgers, not that there's a Rodgers in this years' draft, but they saw the writing on the wall. Time for Steve to do his best. I believe in Steve!

Agreed. Those two plays (PP interception and the pick) were like riding a roller coaster. My wife and I were cheering....yes...we are back in it....then........

College football is ruining QB's. Palmer will put up good numbers for us next year but Cutler/Stafford might be available in 2017-18. They're basically younger Palmer's.

Palmer went out like a straight sucka tonight. He is the best option for next year, but I'm forever scarred by watching this bull crap tonight.

A friend said it best... "Palmer out here throwing like Mr. Magoo. He needs to get some damn glasses"

A. He should of tried gloves it would have helped I think.

B. I think we were screwed when he dislocated his finger that screws you up bad over time in fact the game or two after it happened were before it could subtley destroy his accuracy.

An injury like that is I think the worst thing that could of happened because there is nothing you can do about it but watch yourself tumble in ability slowly as your muscle memory of doing everything goes slightly off kilter.

I don't want to make excuses for him but logically I think that really did him in.

It took away any hopes of deep balls and his confidence went south.

Our defense played like dog poo too.

The results are in (after numerous people said Lindley was better than Palmer):

2014 Ryan Lindley QB Rating 44.3 (Carolina 27-16)
2015 Carson Palmer QB Rating 43.2 (Carolina 49-15)

Oh well I guess Linley must be better lol what a joke!

This team blew tonight and Palmer tried to force some offense it happens when your getting your asses kicked and your defense was playing their worst game of the season! When your D gives up everything your not winning! Lack of pass rush and missed tackles all night is why we got out asses kicked!

Newton was literally laughing all night on the field because we could not stop them! He was having fun kicking our ass! The defense was a complete joke today!

I don't think that was the point of his post. It just puts into perspective how historically bad that performance was.
