Nash is averaging about 11/11 since the ASG, his FG and 3pt% are both down about 8% or so in that stretch.

He made many stupid plays in close game situations.

In my opinion he has been playing extremely bad for his standards.

As one of the most persistent Amare supporter and Nash critic, I'd disagree with your comment about Nash. I mean he has not been healthy. And as the team tries to feature Amare, Nash also has to readjust his role. Under those circumstances, he's done rather well. We can't ask him to stop overdribbling while blaming him for not delivering the same numbers as before.

In short words, the team will be fine as long as Nash is sufficiently healthy come playoff time.:)

This team is not Nash's team anymore.

It is very evident to me in the last 2 months it is all Amare. He has carried us on almost all nights. It seems everyone has accepted him as the go-to guy on offense and as a result he is giving more effort on defense as well.

Nash on the other hand has played poorly.

We can't afford to let him go, he is just showing signs of entering his prime as a player and as a leader and personality on the team.

He is growing into a franchise player before our eyes..

Putting aside our opinions regarding production, improvement, leadership, personality, and franchise player-ship (I invented that one), the only real way to determine "whose team it is" would be to ask the players themselves.

And that was the beginning of the end for the Lakers Shaq/Kobe run (not that I minded). When this issue made its way to sports talk radio and internet forums it wasn't long before it started being asked of the Laker players themselves and disharmony soon reigned.

Fortunately for us, it won't become a divisive issue for the Suns because regardless of whose team it is today, it won't be Nash's team for much longer. His age and chronic back pains and subsequently declining play mean that it will soon be either Amare's team or it will be a major rebuild project and nobody will want to claim "ownership".

Personally I don't think Nash yearns for accolades. He has earned most. I think he will gladly step down when someone steps up and replaces him. Leadership roles are usually determined on the court. I think there are reasons teams have multiple team captains. So who step up, serve.

This is Nash's team.

-He played a major role in the Porter fiasco and the Shaq trade.
-He was given the choice to either be let go,traded to a contender, or sign an
extension to
remain here(at which point IMO this teams direction was at a crossroads......and
Nash's decision determined which direction the FO was ultimately going to take.
-Grant Hill came back because Nash wanted him back.

Nash will remain a PHX SUN until Nash is ready to say otherwise....that cannot be said of any other player including Amare.

so, what you are saying is, it is Nash's decision whether Suns should suck by remaining his team or win by his voluntarily handing the team to Amare. :D

No, what we're saying (or at least what I'm saying) is that Nash couldn't just decide to voluntarily hand the team to Amare. "Whose team it is," a term that basically refers to leadership, boils down to individual perception and player attitude. Who do the players look up to? Where do they find that extra motivation and direction? ..... In a nutshell, who do they trust?

The fans and the media can debate whose team it is all they want. The players make that decision.

This is Amare's team now. I think you could argue that Nash isn't that much better than Dragic at this point.

You could also argue that Steve Kerr is the most dominant Albanian big man of all time, that doesn't make it true.

haha, you know what I mean. Nash is obviously top 5 NBA PG, but I think this has become Amare's team based upon the recent quotes from Gentry and even Nash.

As it should be. It is an exaggeration to say Dragic is as effective as Nash, but the dropoff has become less and less as the season has gone on.

I didn't say that Cly.....you're trying to get me in trouble. LOL
No hidden innuendos in that post...:D
This team would obviously have to take a step back if Nash were to depart. I just don't think it would be as large a step back as most SUNS fans seem to think it would be.

I have to disagree with you BJ. I do think it could be headed that direction sooner than we think(with Amare playing so well and the upcoming contract negotiations)....but its Nash's team until he's no longer a PHX SUN.

Heheh. But I meant what I suggested. As a true "leader", Nash has yet to grasp the concept that "less can be more". As the leader, he should try to pride himself for uncovering hidden talents on the team and make the best possible use of them, may it require that he step way back from his old style of play. In that sense, Utah was always Stockton's team depite Malone being feature the most and got the most accolades over their careers. Let's agree on that!:D

I agree its just that IMO Nash will always be a "Sundance Kid." He's a run n gunner...a creator, a gunslinger and that's his gift.

I don't think he's capable of stepping back and changing his style to being more of an "off the ball",complimentary set shooter type.
I could be wrong...but i doubt it.

He just needs to go play in NY and rescue D'Antoni before he gets fired.

I know it's hard for anyone to change his style. I recall how he made me laugh at his awkwardness trying to emulate Stockton by screening the big for Amare in the paint, these two seasons. But if Nash is as unselfish as people say, he just might.;) Actually, I believe now he has seen what Amare is indeed capable of, he might just try hard.:)

Well, Amare did take all his real estate off the market so does that mean he's decided to stay in Phoenix?? Who knows.

By all accounts he's becoming a "better team mate" where in the past he was very aloof with his mates but now he hangs out with them more. So the chemistry that Nash always refers to, is getting better.

He still doesn't congratulate any of his team mates when they make a good shot (not even JRich whom I think he gets along with the most).

That's not true. I see him get very excited at times while on the bench.
