I read this over at basketballboards.net

Apparently ESPN insider is reporting that he is willing to play with the Suns for about half the mid-level exception. Can anyone verify this?

I would LOVE that to happen.

Marbury/Barbosa/Hardaway/Johnson
Johnson/Hardaway/Jacobson/Marbury
Marion/Zarko/Outlaw/Hardaway
Amare/Outlaw/Googs/Zarko
Drobjnak/Voskuhl/Williams/Tsakalidis/Zarko

Talk about depth and the ability to play multiple positions, even without Drobjnak. Wow.

I would rather spend 100% of the mid-level exception on a bruiser that could actually help the team defensively. I would like to know one team that has a big man that effectively and consistently stretches the defense. Drobnjak is a nice player but I just don't think he could impact the Suns in a positive way.

Are the Suns willing to take on any more salary? And would it mean the end of either Scott Williams or Jake Voskuhl?

While he is not a great player, it would finally give the suns a semi-legit center. That in itself is a miracle for phoenix.

Not really. Drobs isn't a better shooter than Scott Williams, and his defense is worse.

Based on what? His field goal % isn't any better, he isn't as good defensively (Drobs is a terrible defender), and he isn't as good a rebounder.

Where is a link to support this claim other than a message board??

Heck, even I could have posted something saying he liked PHX.

BTW, Drobnjak over Scott Williams any day. Not Voskuhl.

The Suns need scoring from that spot, and Drobnjak can definitely do that. He also extends the perimeter by about another 5 feet (from Williams 15 foot max).

So, he is willing to play here for $2.25 million? I think it will have to be less than that or we'll do a sign and trade.

Since we are already over the lux tax, that become $4.5 million. We can sign Williams for the vet min of $1 million and that is subsidized by the league.

The only way I see this happening is if we have something that Seattle wants and they accept a sign and trade. Who would you give up in a sign and trade to get Drobs? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head--Casey? Nah.

He could sign for less, but can't Seattle match?

Without reading it over - it stated Suns and Lakers contacted Drobjnak first... then Chad Ford said Drobjank could sign with Suns and I believe at site lines Drobjnak's agent said he believes Drobjnak can get mid-level exemption etc - but BC stated high unlikely Suns would sign Free Agent... then Chad Ford posted something similiar to Suns are team out of FA picture locking up Scott Williams and Jake Voskuhl. If that helps hehe.

If it costs the Suns re-signing Williams, then do it.

If it costs the Suns re-signing Voskuhl, then...im not quite sure.

As I said many times before, Drobnjak would be a perfect Center for the Suns. Also, he would help a lot with Zarko. (Yes, they are friends.)
