Very well said. As far as the Cap holds the next 3 years flor Asante too, is the fact that the Cards still have a ton of money they HAVE to spend to get to the Cap Floor. Sounds good to me. Might be Hightower shipped if they're thinking sending a RB out in a trade though. Especially since he's the one that hasn't signed his tender yet.

Makes sense and unlike the Kolb situation where the Eagles had us over a barrel (the market was bare), the CB is rather packed (Cromartie, Clements, Carlos Rogers, etc)

The Eagles plan to carry call three of their Pro Bowl corners "unless they get a good trade offer," according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane.

The immediate speculation is that the Eagles are willing to trade incumbent Asante Samuel, who has been an "excused absence" from camp so far. As they shift to a more physical defense under Juan Castillo, they could be looking to start two bump and run corners in Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. However, Samuel is due over $9 million and it will be extremely difficult to get equal value. It's possible the Eagles are simply loading up for a Super Bowl run in 2011.

Man, I keep imagining how amazing that moment would have been when NFLN/others dropped the breaking news of the Cards coming out of nowhere to get Nnamdi. How amazing would our front office have looked then, and imagine Peterson and Nnamdi for the next 5 years!!! But alas, is what it is now...

The press conference would have consistent of Graves dropping his pants, placing his n*ts on the table, and saying "Any questions?"

Would rather have clements though. But the way I see it, more talent that floods into the market at the cb position, the better chance we have at landing one.

If we are left with Samuels as a decent cb that can help us, it's better than not. But would rather go after clements.

It's also possible that someone rates samuels above another guy we want, and thus instead of taking the guy we want, they take him, leaving us with a better shot at clements or someone else.

Something like that.

I'd offer Hightower/Beanie, whichever one they want and a 4th round pick at the most. If they scoff at that I'd just get one of the other 10 starting quality CBs on the market.

His cap number is to big it would be a mistake to trade for him when they are going to have to cut him and you can sign him for cheaper. next three years are 9.5 million 9.75 and 11.5 he isnt worth those number let the eagles cut him and sign him for 8 a year 20 mil guarnateed something in that range outta get it done

If he gets cut he will be a Patriot you can count on it. If you trade for him you can rework his contract and not have to compete with 30 other teams to sign him.

Patriots dont have the cap room but that being said I wouldnt give up any more draft picks at this point there are still corners out there. JMO

DRC/#2 for Kolb/#2 favors the Eagles slightly.

DRC/#2 for Kolb/#2/FA-Samuels favors the Cardinals greatly.

Uh, why do you have the Cardinals getting a #2 in both of your scenarios?
Shouldn't that be:

DRC/#2 for Kolb favors Eagles greatly
DRC/#2 for Kolb/FA-Samuel (if the Eagles cut him) still favors the Eagles slightly.
DRC/#2/#5 for Kolb/Samuel (if the Cardinals trade for him) still favors the eagles greatly.

Just guessing on the #5 pick. Every player's value is somewhat relative to the size of his cap hit.

What kind of signing bonus did Samuel get and when did he sign his contract? Trading him now would accelerate the rest of his bonus onto the Eagles' cap this year (if things are still similar to the old CBA in that regard) so i wonder whether it would even save the Eagles much cap space this year?

We'd be like a person in an abusive relationship who think it's their fault and goes back to the same person repeatedly, only to get abused again and again.

I suppose I can agree with that. The thing with him getting cut and going to the Pats is more along the thinking that he'd play on the cheap for a season to be on a contender. I wouldn't be shocked to see him go elsewhere, but waiting until he gets cut is a pretty big gamble too if we actually want him. I'd personally rather us just go after Rodgers or someone else as well.
