Johnson's primary issue with Cinn. is not $$$. He believes he was dissed by coaches and management and unfairly blamed for present failure... and refuses to play another down for them.

Q's issue is $$$.

Wait. This isn't possible... Didn't we just spend all of March having one group of fans saying that Anquan Boldin would never try and hold the franchise hostage over something like money?

If he missed the mandatory minicamps, I expect all those people who were bashing Fitz for being greedy, not caring about the team, etc., to come on and eat some crow.

Anquan's agent wouldn't be saying this without his client's permission.

In fact Schefter cpmared the situation to the one with chad johnson in Cincy!

Well then Schefter is a an idiot. I haven't seen Anquan putting on the show that Chad Johnson has.

if Q is serious about not wanting to be here...I just hope we won't be as stupid as Cincy and turn down two #1s for him....

Obviously I want him to stay... but if he is serious and won't resign, letting him just walk is Worst Case Scenerio....

Even reading Graves comments, and his statements about IF WE CAN"T SIGN HIM, speaks volumes.....

Damnit.. just Damnit.....

guess again

it is money.

I posted this before-- the beat writer for the Cincy paper was on ESPN gamenight -- Chad wants a bigger deal and knows Cincy wont give it to him. Hence-- demand a trade to a new team who will give him a new contract.

That's not how it works.

First, Drew Rosehaus (greedy agent, etc.); second, Rod Graves (incompetent idiot who should have known this would happen and re-signed Q 6 months ago, etc.); then and only then its Q (who obviously has changed, and now is simply interested in $$$ and personal stats, blah, blah, blah)

Ooops! forgot another one: blame Fitz.

This is what happens when the organazation lets one of their players bend them over and impose his will like Fitz did.

Hey... I heard CHAD (not a beat writer) on the NFL Network say precisely what I wrote.

Cincy didn't get offered that. They'd of jumped on it. No hesitation.

yeah I meant to say it was a POTENIAL #1..

Still I heard on 910, that it was like a 3rd if they didn't make the playoffs, a 2nd if they did make the playoffs, and a #1 if they made it to the Superbowl...

So it would have been atleast a #1 and a #2, maybe more....

I am just saying if they concede that Q wants to leave trade him for a boat load of draft picks and a starting Quality player...

ALA what we were throwing out there in a trade for Fitz.....

Except that the situation is not the same. Fitz had ALL the leverage. Q doesn't really have any. He is under contract till' 2010.

I don't know, CC. There was some pretty heated talk about the quality of Fitz's character and his desire to remain in the city/have the team be successful. Well before his agent started getting any heat.

Honestly, I could care less about this. This is business, and the business end of the NFL is intellectually interesting, but I'm not going to get hung up on it. If Anquan says that he wants a trade, I hope that all those people here who were willing to string up Fitzgerald have a change of heart.

But this is about money, and as long as Anquan Boldin does his job, shows up when he's supposed to, and performs on the field, then I'm going to be happy.

But when the team decides to upgrade Boldin's deal if he doesn't have a monster season on the field (2007 was the second-worst season of his career in every category except TDs--where he legitimately set a career high), then players like Dansby, Wilson, and Dockett will be legitimately peeved.

For a fan base that is so sensitive to double standards (especially when it comes to the WR position), upgrading Boldin wouldn't seem to be a priority.

Also, it's really unfortunate the Q and his reps decided to make this annoucement today, so soon before the draft.

I was going to say that the draft for this Cardinals fan doesn't exactly seem like Christmas (the way it usually does), but like a non-milestone birthday. You're not going to get a whole bunch of presents and it's not going to set the tone for the new year, but you'll pick up a couple of nice things...

...This is like if your mom was baking the birthday cake, and some egg shells got in it, and she shrugged.

I would quit on football for about a year if this were to happen. I wouldn't be able to stomach it.
