He reminds me of Larry before Todd Haley and Kurt really started riding his ass to be the best at EVERYTHING he does.

Someone needs to be his Kurt/Haley. He’s a great cover corner, and that’s great but he’s not a complete player and until he is, it’s tough to be a leader, IMO.

For the poo he gets on this board, merited or unmerited, if Patrick Peterson is out, it changes the entire scheme of the defense. As much as I love Chandler Jones, Peterson is far more valuable to this team. Peterson is the best man-to-man cover corner I've seen in a very long time.

which play are we talking about this time? If you mean the KO return here's a challenge, run full speed about 60 yards downfield then turn around and run 85 yards back the other way and let's see if you can catch Tyler Lockett from behind.

at the point where Lockett broke contain he had a good lead on Peterson and he was going full speed and PP was turning around. PP put on a burst to get close but given how far he'd already run it's not all that surprising he couldn't catch him.

Yep you literally can't play this defense without someone like PP to lock down 1 player on almost every down.

Relax Francis.

No one’s saying anything about Peterson being out. Just that we’d like to see him live up to his full potential as an all-around football player. He’s a GREAT cover corner, but he’s got the tools to be more than that.

If you took into account all the plays he has made in relation, who cares. We won today, and nobody is going to pee in my Fruit Loops :)

I will say this: Bettcher should be unemployed or demoted tomorrow. Using Peterson in zone schemes is akin to making Larry Fitzgerald a running back.

some of you guys act like if we changed the defensive scheme we would rank 32

What I'm saying is a big reason why we are able to blitz this much, which has been part of our success on defense the last few years, is we have PP at CB shutting down their best player.

The entire scheme on defense is predicated on him being able to take away the other teams best Wr, if he isn't here or can't do that, we have to totally change our defense. And that includes go get more pass rushers because we won't be able to blitz as much.

Sure I think he could be better at other things, but then I think it would detract from his ability to lock his man down. He's never missed a game in the NFL, part of that is because of the way he plays.

Fake news. Alternate does not mean pro bowler.

If we're talking about one pro bowl, then your argument has some merit. But name the other players in league history who've made seven in their first seven seasons.

Actually my argument has complete merit because it happened. Players get named to the Pro Bowl and as alternate because of their name all the time.

But besides that, I’ve never said Peterson isn’t a great cover corner. He is. But there’s areas of his game to improve upon, just the same that Larry had to improve on his game. I hope he gets there because he’s got the tools to be a legend... but he’s not and Id like to see him be one, same as Larry.
