Michael Floyd just drops a bunch of balls. Hard to gauge why other than concentration. He may be the most versatile WR we have in terms of size and speed, but I am as confident in him catching that ball as I am rookie John Brown. Color me not impressed by the "budding superstar."

Agree 100%. He seems to use his body far more than he should to catch passes. IMO, needs to catch more with his hands.

FULL DISCLOSURE: My DVR cut out right before the Cards kicked the extra point--I missed Philly's furious comeback effort. I saw that Deone Bucannon got his first pass defensed of the season. Good on him. It was hard to come up with three goats for this game, and honorable mentions for heroes abound.

1. Antonio Cromartie, CB. We will not be able to afford extending the contract of Antonio Cromartie, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Cromartie was exceptional covering exactly the type of high-quality #2 WR that he's best over.

2. Larry Fitzgerald, WR. We will not be able to afford keeping Larry Fitzgerald on the roster in 2015. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't immensely enjoy days like yesterday. Fitzgerald's TD run was so reminiscent of what #11 was able to do during the Cards' two playoff runs.

3. Ed Stinson, DT. This young man is getting better with more snaps that he's getting. Great credit to Steve Keim for finding this talent and the coaching staff for developing him. Yesterday he looked like Baby Nine-oh.

1. Michael Floyd, WR. Woof. Three targets, no catches, including two that went off of his hands. Floyd should carry a JUGGS machine around with him all week like that Columbia feminist student.

2. Bruce Arians, HC. All credit due to the ballsy playcall on third down in the final Arizona possession. That said, Arians's in-game management, including use of timeouts and challenges, has been terrible most of the season. It's time to take the challenge review job away from LBs coach Mike Caldwell upstairs; he doesn't know what he's doing.

3. University of Phoenix Stadium Ticket Holders. Fitzgerald thanked fans for making UofP "deafening" on Facebook last night. That's not what came across on the broadcast, where there were large swaths of Eagles fans and enormous cheers when calls when for the Eagles.

I cannot think of anyone that should be on the GOAT list.

Cmon Man.

It wasn't like Floyd was wide open. He had defenders crawling all over him. I've seen pass interference on plays with WAY less contact than his two "drops".

Bruce Arians? Are you kidding? The man has turned this team around and is 13-3 over the last 16 games. He knows his personel and I believe every play he calls is with the intention of setting up something else later in the game. He calls for a game winning bomb on 3rd and 5...ballsy to say the least. As it turns out BRILLIANT.

You know what? I do have 1 goat and that would be the frickin time keeper. We're at home dude! You simply let that clock run for 1 more second.

FWIW, I think that comparison says more about how wonderful Brown's progressing than it does denigrate Floyd.

Floyd needs to to better catching the ball, no doubt about it. He had at least three big passes just bounce off his hands. That can't happen.

But I also think that Floyd is a superior blocker, route runner, and can run the entire route tree, and I'm not confident that Brown can do those things.

Yet.

Which is why I specified catching the ball. Michael Floyd is the most versatile WR on our team in terms of speed, size, and blocking abilty. Hands down.

Brown gets bombs over his head where Floyd gets bombs while he has two to three guys covering him. I think you are being a bit harsh but he does have a lot of drops this year, they both do. Brown benefits from fitz and floyd being on the field. I dont have full confidence in him doing much else than bombs until he bulks up a little.

Floyd
Wk1 7 target 5 catch 119 yds
wk2 6 target 1 19 yds
wk3 9 target 5 catch 114yds
wk5 7 target 1 catch 7 yards
wk6 7 target 4 catch 47 yds TD
wk7 3 target 3 catch 47 yrds TD
Wk8 4 target 0 catches

24 targets without catches, 19 catches, 2TD 353 yards

JB
5-2-29 yds TD
4-3 28 yards
6-4 52 yds 2td
7-2 4 yds
6-4 43 yds
5-2 41 yds
10-5-119 yds TD

21 targets without catches, 22 catches, 4TD 316 yards

Some thoughts. Yes, Michael Floyd gets more contested passes in this scheme, but his size advantage is why he gets those. They are designated as mismatches, and Floyd isn't even drawing PI penalties. Brown's advantage is his speed, which he has exploited and taken advantage of. If you look at larger WRs, you draft them high because they catch those balls or they draw penalties. So far, Michael Floyd is doing very little of both.

To my point, on the John Brown TD, I'm more confident in Brown catching that ball over his head rather than Floyd. Just my opinion, but I'm still waiting for Michael Floyd to arrive, and earn a second contract. Right now, you could argue Michael Floyd is our 4th best offensive option behind Fitz, Brown, and Ellington.

I agree with the time keeper comment.

Arians called himself out, so put him on the goat list.

As far as Floyd goes, if Jaron Brown is dropping those balls, I am ok. If our heir apparent #1 is dropping those balls, I'm calling him out on the goat list. I expect more.

I think Floyds hurt. I think the Cardinals knew it and the Eagles figured it out as the game went on.

I noticed a few times they rotated Connor Barwin over to cover Floyd. Mostly when Ellington went in motion to Floyds side. They would rotate the cornerback on Floyd to cover Ellington and Barwin would slide out to cover Floyd.

Now this may just be great scouting by the Eagles but to me they are taking a big risk by covering a WR with a LBer.

I think if Floyd was able to do so BA would have taken advantage of this matchup. But he must have thought that this wasn't a favorable matchup for Floyd which makes me think that he is hurt.

Floyd doesn't have Browns speed but he would normally be way to much to handle for a LBer.

There was huge contingent of Eagles fans there. Probably more than when the Steelers played out there a couple years ago. They had 2 enormous tailgates outside McFaddens and that bar was filled with Eagles fans. Me and some other guys were about the only Cards fans around.

Still, in the stadium. it didn't seem like there was as many and the Cards crowd was very loud. I posted this in another thread but it shows they were well represented:

He has a tendency to body catch which leads to drops. The odd thing is he also is terrific at going up and catching the ball at it's peak with strong hands. He's been better than I expected, he had a bad game but he's had some terrific ones too
