Good grief. Do you argue just to argue? What in the world is ridiculous about noting that these drawings never seem to go the Suns way. It is one of the most innocuous statement a person can make on a message board.
Don't be obtuse. Doesn't matter if it's innocuous or not--you attributed it to the Suns bad luck, and that's ridiculous. And who are you to determine what the Suns "way" is? For all we know (and there is evidence to this), we weren't interested in the pick this year anyway. So maybe it was good luck, not bad, that we don't get the pick.

Nice spin Cheese but its still an asset just it will be a higher #1 pick next year.

It's not spin. I was told repeatedly that McD deserves this summer to be judged because of all the great assets he's gotten to work with. And at the end of the day, those great assets he's totaled for this summer are... a mid-first round pick. Yippee.

He’s had that asset for a long time so I’m not sure it’s a feather in his cap this year.

The way I view the Milwaukee pick is some wanted it to use to trade up in this draft. Ok. But the suns could still use it to trade up but now aren't forced into it (as much). I think they have more flexibility this way. It may not be as 'potent' to use for a trade up this draft but frankly if we still wanted to move up in the draft we could.

Two miami picks, the Milwaukee pick, our own future picks, the second round pick (that is almost a first rounder). With these assets if we wanted higher in this draft it's still possible.

He has two first round picks and plenty of cap space if he wants it, plus he still has future picks to trade, so unless the timeline changes, this summer will still be a test.

No mention of the 2nd round pick from Milwaukee. That had protection as well, with it being protected from #31-46, so if we didn't get their 1st round pick we'd get that this year. Is that still the case or is there a new tiebreaker?

I just know Philly will jump us in the lottery with the Lakers pick that the Suns once held.

1. Cleveland (because they always get the #1 pick when in the lottery)
2. Philly with the Lakers pick and they are always #2
3. Not Phoenix
4. Phoenix.

Apparently we don't get that, in the original trade article it says it was protected from #31-48.

Edit: Tweeted Bordow and he said we wouldn't get that pick but didn't mention protection. Said the only 2nd rounder we're owed is the Toronto pick. I sent him a link to the article above and he hasn't responded yet. It's his article though. I know people don't pay attention to 2nd round picks like they do 1st's.

As far as I know we should be getting that this year.

4. Phoenix.

The Philly pick would go to Boston then. Philly only gets it if it's #1 or #6 or worse. It goes to Boston if it's #2-5 this year. That was part of their trade last year to move up for Fultz.

I really don't want a team like Philly, Boston, or Cleveland ahead of the Suns because I think they'd trade their pick and send all mocks into a tailspin. Of course the Suns could also trade for it but I don't think they have the assets to get it on it's own, only enough to swap picks.

Not sure about 1 and 2, but your 3 and 4 look just about right.

Considering how he’s never accomplished anything with cap space before... not really.
We have really only targeted the top tier free agents and aging vets. We are certainly more likely to target guys that are 2nd to 3rd tier this year than years past. Makes more sense this year because we are trying to build a winning team.

Is Hakim Warrick available?

At least with the Milwaukee pick we can root for that pick to be better than 17th. We will have two first rounders again and it can be another possible trade up situation.

Next years draft looks underwhelming.

Yeah...but after this draft hopefully we won't be in dire need.

Plus Chandler and Dudley will be off the books by then. Maybe Dudley this year if they waive him with a stretch provision. Free agency could be a splash over the next couple seasons.

These are all good points although I would like to save the stretch provision for Knight if things go sour.
