Laws have specific criteria that must be satisfied to be found guilty. It’s how we live in a society with rules.
Being found guilty and application of the law to get police involved are not the same things. One requires burden of proof while the other (getting arrested) does not.

There have been multiple examples of teams in tunnels getting into with each other. I think it needs to be all issues should be reviewed by law enforcement or none (meaning league handles). It shouldn't be subjective.
A) it should be all

B) even every day law enforcement has elements of subjectivity. It is what it is.

Of course not. But the answer would be the same if you were to flip that and ask if law enforcement should never get involved in a bench brawl, NBA fight or NFL fight. It depends on the situation, context always matters. And no matter how you feel about it, there is a huge difference between what happens on the playing field versus somewhere else in the building.
Why? A citizen should have the same right to safety on the court as off.

I have a problem with subjectively deciding if an assault should be reviewed by law enforcement or if it should be handled internally. What I am saying is I prefer consistent application regardless.
That’s a matter of the league or arena security covering something up. That’s not in law enforcement imo.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for assaulting the deserving. But players/rock stars/politicians should be held as accountable as me.
There's no chance in hell any of us would get out of jail in a few hours for an assault. Some of us would lose our jobs if a charge like that got out.

Its all a plot by the government to keep the Suns fan down.

If that is the case, they need to be T’ing up LeBron, Giannis, all the Warriors, etc nightly

Draymond Green should easily get two technicals every game.

I think we should save the arrests for the playoffs, when we really need them. (sarcasm)

If the perpetrator committed the alleged assault during the game, I doubt police would be involved. The victim could, but I bet it happens infrequently.

Of course, anyone can call the police and file a complaint.

Dude it was 5 MINITES INTO THE GAME. The refs would have us believe that he was "warned" multiple times but the video evidence was there. That call was horsecrap.

What LeBron does is more egregious and just shows how thin, skinned and incompetent the refs are.

They play favorites, and that’s been an issue with the NBA as long as I have been watching

I didn't defend the refs, the call WAS horsecrap.

NBA refs are really bad and for the most part I think they're easily swayed and many hold obvious grudges. Booker has never been good at "working" the refs.

If that was Luka the refs would have gave him a high 5.. that guy does nothing but complain.. if they called it like how they did Booker then Luka would be ejected every game..

We won, easily, and got KD and Book rest. We held a 20+ point lead all game. Yet all anyone is talking about is what happened before the game and what happened 5 minutes into the game. It is what it is. We didn't need Booker and Eubanks seemed unaffected by whatever happened. Time for the team to get some rest during the All-Star break. Hopefully Beal can get healthy.

He's got a bit of a temper.

Once you enter the arena it's an NBA event IMO. Outside a building on the street isn't the same thing. We will have to agree to disagree. There are not laws I am aware of that set parameters where or when something like that occurs which determines if you get charged. It's subjective at best. The lines here can get really grey really quick and make a mess.
I thought I read somewhere it happened a couple of hours prior to the start of the game?

Because the actual game was boring.

About the “arrest”. I read where he was arrested, and I also read where he was issued a citation and released.

I think if a crime happened (assault), it sounds like it is a misdemeanor and not a felony (aggravated assault). If it is a misdemeanor and not committed in the officer’s presence, then he can not make a physical arrest. A misdemeanor has to be committed in the officer’s presence to be arrested, otherwise he writes a ticket/citation or advises the offended party to go sign a complaint before the judge.

This is taken from the above linked article from SI.com:

NBA insider Shams Charania just went live on Twitter/X and shared what he learned:

----------------------------------------------------

"I'm told Drew Eubanks was punched in the mouth area and from what I'm told, the footage will show, Drew Eubanks barely flinched. He stood there stone cold, took the punch obviously and police/security got involved, separated them. Police had Isaiah Stewart escorted out of the arena, and then he was arrested and given his citation and released after that. So this is really in the hands of local law enforcement. Their investigation - which is active as well as the league's investigation that's going to take place over the coming days and weeks."

The NBA opens an official review of the Stewart-Eubanks incident per Shams Charania.
