:band:1. Trade for QB Jason Campbell asap...offer LG Reggie Wells (a need for the Redskins) and the 6th or 7th rounder...Campbells' stats were not that far off from KW's (20 TDs/ 15 ints) despite playing behind an atrocious o-line. Plus, he's athletic, a real plus for Whiz.

2. Trade Leinart to the Raiders or Bills or whomever wants him. A 5th round pick will do it.

3. Unless he is totally psyched to become the team's starting NT, which he was drafted for, trade DE Alan Branch. He'll be outa here next year anyway...and we have some depth at the backup DE spots anyway, and perhaps more to come in the draft. I get a 5th round pick for him.

4. Get rid of CB Bryant McFadden and sign UFA CB Ken Lucas at 1/5 of the salary to compete with the player who will start at RCB, Greg Toler.

And I would draft:

1. Jerry Hughes, OLB/DE, TCU. Completes the 4 man rush extraordinaire in passing situations with DD, CC and JP.

2. Arrelious Benn, WR, Illinois. Is a big target with speed and RAC ability.

3a. Jamar Chaney, ILB, Mississipi St. Perfect fit at WILB and will start there right away.

3b. John Jerry, G, Mississipi. Mauler deluxe. Future starter and possible All-Pro under Grimm.

4. Javier Arenas, CB/PR, Alabama. Instant nickel and dynamic punt returner.

5a. . Mike Kafka, QB, Northwestern. Has the character, the toughness and the skills to be a good one.

5b. Kerry Meier, WR, Kansas. Tall, great hands, combo WR/HB.

7. Josh Hull, SILB, Penn. St. Tough kid, overshadowed by Navorro and Lee at Penn. St. Had 116 tackles this year.

Let's now go and THREE-PEAT!:newcards::rockon:

I knew the trade for Jason Campbell threads would start in earnest.

It is not going to happen. I could however see him in St Louis, Cleveland or Oakland as the Redskins probably will only get a 4th rounder for him.

Jason Campbell Excited To Have Donovan McNabb Backing Him Up

WASHINGTON, DC--Redskins starting quarterback Jason Campbell said he is “thrilled” to have former Eagles QB Donovan McNabb backing him up this year after the 'Skins acquired McNabb on Sunday night from the Eagles.

“I couldn’t be happier to have Donovan on board,” Campbell said in a phone interview on Sunday night. “Depth is so important at the quarterback position nowadays. If you don't have two quality guys on your

roster you’re asking for trouble. I'm glad they made this move now instead of waiting for me to get hurt ”

Campbell dispelled any notions that he would be upset by a trade for one of the league’s premier quarterbacks.

“Why would I be upset?” said Campbell. “We just acquired a great quarterback. That's just going to make us better. What’s that? No, I’m not concerned about job security. Mike Shanahan told me when he took this job that I was his quarterback. I got his word. So I don't even know why we're having this conversation, really. This is weird.”

:heu:

I disagree with almost everything here. Although I would see about trying to get Lucas in here--but not at the expense of McFadden.

I don't like Campbell at all. I'd like to see if Leinart can regain his touch--I believe he can. I like Branch -- his potential and what he did last year -- at DE.

Not me. I don't even want the guy playing as a dime back for us. The guy hit the age of 30 and he just flat out stinks now.

Allowed 70% completion percentage last year and 118 QB Rating. There is a reason why Carolina didn't want him anymore, why the Seahawks only kept him for a year, and why no one is looking at him on the free agent market. Even decent CB's do not last long on the FA market. He will be on his 3rd team in 3 years, doesn't say much about the guys ability anymore.

If they guy wants to sign for the Vet minimum and compete then I can complain but if he is paid more then minimum it will be drastically over paying.

Look, I'd love Campbell here. I wanted us to draft him.

Leinart is only worth a 5th? I think you might be alone on that.

Your implication is that Branch has roughly the same value as Leinart. I KNOW you are alone on that.

Ken Lucas would be a fine addition, but not in place of McFadden. I think that a CB rotation of DRC-McFadden-Lucas would be an interesting proposition.

Methinks Mitch is striking back at my parody threads that mock the silliness going around by starting a goofball one of his own. Well played, sir, well played!

Think about the insanity of this: Myself and Cheesie and other darksiders board-wide have come to the side of light, trusting in the plan and rolling with it. A bunch of lightsiders have started going nuts because they don't trust in the plan. Crazy world when Mitch starts leaning to the dark side, eh? :)

If Campbell was anywhere close to KW in talent the Redskins wouldn't have traded for McNabb. It's time to accept Campbell just isn't that good or the Redskins wouldn't have been looking for a replacement.

Mitch, you've definitely challenged the mainstream ideas of Cardinals fans over the years, but besides drafting Kafka and replacing McFadden, I can't see where any of the rest of this makes sense. It's possible that Jason Campbell becomes a little more respectable, but I just can't see him becoming a franchise quarterback. And even at this point, I feel that Leinart is much more valuable than a fifth round pick. Matt's experience in the system alone makes him more valuable than Campbell, and I believe he has the skillset to succed in the NFL now.

Arrelious Benn may have a great deal of talent, but were the Cardinals to draft a WR in the first two rounds, I'd have to lose some belief in the front office. I doubt we'd have shipped off Boldin if there wasn't a strong trust in Breaston and Doucet to take that role over. Replacing a WR probably wouldn't happen unless Dez Bryant slipped all the way to the 58th pick.

I don't see any way your scenario pans out.

I was thinking very much the same thing. Founders of the darkside have become the calmer fans. Maybe they were just speaking the truth but lightsiders couldn't handle the truth (including myself).

Interesting, Mitch...

I always appreciate your posts. :) To me, the board is a family that shares. That's what makes it fun!

Anyways, regardless of the company-speak coming out of Jason Campbell's mouth, I bet he would jump at a change of scenery. The 'skins fans came down on him pretty hard last year. Question to me is he too gun-shy now?? He's taken a beating the past couple years. I've seen so many plays where he's struggling to get up. ...And can he throw a good deep pass?? The Redskin under 10 yards quick-screen behind the line was a joke! Everyone knew it was coming and adjusted their D accordingly.

As for Matt I'm willing to give our QB coach the opportunity to get his mechanics worked-out. D.A. too. I also think more practice reps will help tremendously with that particular problem. Question is can Matt stop throwing those high passes that are going to get somebody killed??

As for Alan Branch...Beware players that are labeled under-acheivers in college. Has the tools, etc. but will he bring it week-in and week-out?? The jury is still out and has been for awhile.

Anyways, I ENJOY your posts and everyone elses. :)

...And the draft is less than 3 weeks away! If you can't get excited about that you don't have a pulse. GO CARDS! :)
