2021 - Prove It
Indy will be tricky based upon what they do with their GM.
Denver is a much more unattractive job than we even are. He might not have to worry about a young QB, but he would have to worry about an over-the-hill QB whose contract is actually much worse than Kyler’s at this very moment. At least with Kyler, he’s still young. There’s also the Mahomes & Herbert factor.I think he will go to Denver personally. No young QB to worry about. An offense set up to run the ball and play defense. Good defensive personnel. Big ownership pockets. He may be the biggest splash after Payton and Denver wants a big splash.
And here he won’t have to deal with a paucity of first round picks like he would in Denver.Denver is a much more unattractive job than we even are. I think there’s zero chance in hell he goes there.
So you're telling me there's a chance. Yippee!xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
I don't believe there are many attractive jobs as of right now.Denver is a much more unattractive job than we even are. I actually believe this is a fairly attractive job. They got a good amount of good pieces at the right spots. They just need to trade up for a QB.Carolina likely keeps Wilks or goes offense as it is desperate for a young QB.
Ballard is massively overrated. His luster as a “good GM” has certainly worn off by a lot of people. I think they’re talent-deficient in alot of non-QB spots as well.Indy is another wild card as they have a top 5 pick but will likely need to move up for a QB. Their GM is good but they have a crazy owner. Again, pairing a young QB with a defensive coach has not generally turned out well.
I would switch Carolina & Houston, but a solid list overall.I mean if the list is...
Arizona, Denver, Carolina, Houston, and Indy...Arizona is near the top of the list tbh. If I were to rank these teams...
1 - Houston
2 - Arizona (if you get to pick your GM)
3 - Carolina
4 - Indy
5 - Denver.
My bad @DVontel if I consider the division a little more, Denver is the worst spot of those 5. I still wonder how many of those orgs take a defensive guy. Denver and AZ are the only franchises I think will.
Vegas hates losing more than any NFL team.Vegas odds have him coaching the Cardinals. I know they mean nothing but it's good to dream...
If Kliff is NOT fired on Black Monday we are doomed.Bidwill will f-ck this up unless Goodell has instructed him to take a step back in football matters.
Only a Bidwill would retain a coach who doesn’t want to be the coach. Much like his front office who retains offensive lineman who don’t want to play!If Kliff is NOT fired on Black Monday we are doomed.
from what i have heard -- and granted -- its a little dated and obvs second hand: this is pretty accurate
(would love to hear Mao's take here):
Mike B is described as a "consensus guy"
things worked with Arians because he was such a strong personality that Keim's bad ideas wouldn't survive "consensus". The FO benefited from another experienced person giving input into personnel decisions.
Kliff isn't a strong personality in that dynamic, so Keim has gone unchecked
Brutal. Is their any way the Cards can score a HOF coach like Arians again?Bidwill will f-ck this up unless Goodell has instructed him to take a step back in football matters.
One thing Denver now has to offer Payton is an owner with the deepest pockets in the NFL. They can get a new GM and Payton could influence who that is. There is a world of difference between the Georgia Frontierre Rams and the Stan Kroenke Rams, so that is where my thoughts come from.
Then there is Russell Wilson...lol
Dude. Denver is one of the most livable cities in the country.I don't see him in Denver. He has a hot new 38 year old wife who's been living in No and LA.
I get the impression they are looking for a lifestyle as much as anything and I don't see them freezing their ass off in Colorado winters.
That's why LA and AZ are topping the list.
Exactly.
Mike is a guy that's going to sit in the room and nod along. Maybe ask a couple of questions but ultimately sit back and go along with what the GM/HC wants.
The one area he meddles is in hiring HCs. But that's not an issue in our situation.

Lots to like. He‘s worked with an undersized QB successfully. He’s creative in play design. He assembles solid offensive game plans. Win or lose he assumes responsibility for results. Payton is animated on the sidelines. He works the refs and interacts with the players continuously. He appears personally invested in every play, showing great passion, not cold disinterest. There’s quite a bit more but I’d settle for just this much, but sadly he’s not coming!Aside from being the big name, why exactly would Payton be a good fit in Arizona? I don’t know much about the guy or his coaching style. I’m guessing having Drew Brees was helpful.
Unless another opening pops up, Arizona might be his best option.Lots to like. He‘s worked with an undersized QB successfully. He’s creative in play design. He assembles solid offensive game plans. Depending on how much control a coach desires, I would actually find Indy a nice place to go solely because I think they have a great scouting department removed from the crazy ownerI don't believe there are many attractive jobs as of right now.

Denver has new ownership and a respected GM. Yes, Russ was awful this year and that may be a huge turn off. I just think they are open to a defensive coach in a market that I don't believe will have a ton of teams interested.
Houston, Arizona...who knows what else pops up.
