Possible Star Wars Release Schedule Includes Spin-off Surprise

http://moviepilot.com/posts/2014/05...rise-1436053?lt_source=external,manual#!O2MK1

Some rather massive Star Wars news has just emerged from a land far, far away. Well, Germany to be precise. Information has made its way online which purports to be a release schedule for the entire Disney-led Star Wars movie franchise - including the currently unknown spin-off movies.

Although we're learning more and more about the episodic Star Wars movies, starting, of course, with 2015's Star Wars: Episode VII, we still know precious little about the proposed spin-off movies that will be released in between the episodes.

Earlier this month, Disney CEO Bog Iger confirmed the new Star Wars universe would receive three spin-offs, but even before this news, the internet was abuzz with possibly storylines. Two of the most persistent and popular choices were a Han Solo and Boba Fett spin-off, and if this new information is to be believed, that's exactly what we're getting - plus an interesting surprise.

German website, Star Wars Union, recently ran a story in which they claimed to receive information from Hasbro event reps. Hasbro holds the license to make Star Wars toy merchandise and so it would make sense for them to be privy to deep insider Star Wars secrets. The SWU state the information gave a run down of the Star Wars release schedule all the way up to 2020. Check it out below:

2014: Rebels
2015: Episode VII
2016: Boba Fett
2017: Epiosde VIII
2018: Han Solo
2019: Episode IX
2020: Red Five

Now, the inclusion of the Star Wars Rebels animated series is of no surprise, as we've already seen copious amounts of marketing for this property. However, the Boba Fett Movie, Han Solo Movie and, perhaps most interestingly, Red Five movie are still unconfirmed entities. Red Five in particular is a completely new player, as it suggests one spin-off movie could revolve around a group of X-Wing pilots.

unless they've got the entire trilogy seriously planned out at this point, a two-year window per project screams quantity over quality at this point.

and seeing as JJ and Kasdan did a major rewrite of the entire first entry in the saga, I'm dubious they've thought that far in advance.

Wow...Disney is turning this into the Electronics Arts burn and churn cycle (video game fans know what I am talking about). UGH!

Seriously, they had better have full blown dedicated teams to work on each with big directors or this franchise is going to crash big time. You can't put out a bunch of mediocre movies and not alienate the fans. It would just dilute the franchise. You need some in charge of overseeing the continuity between them a la Joss Whedon for the Marvel Universe.

Disney is playing with fire but Marvel is proving it can be done.

it seems they are trying to pull a marvel and have a main story with a bunch of side movies that lead into the main story movies. Could be awesome.

I'm not sure what to think of this bold release schedule, but the truth is I'll see every single one they toss out there. The only question will be if I brave the theater or wait for home release.

Or UbiSoft. Assassin's Creed 74 is coming out this November. This time with less stabby parts and more running parts, as opposed to last year's more boaty parts and more stabby parts.

judging by the diminishing returns of the last Star Trek, this isn't what people want, but they're going to get it until the first spinoff bombs.

All of the stand alone movies are kinda of "blah" to me. To me Star Wars is about the Jedi--which is why I hated the Rogue Squadron and Han Solo books, to be in that universe and have them not carry the story doesn't seem right.

Also I never understood why Boba Fett became such a fan favorite.

In spite of all I wrote, I will see everyone in the theaters on opening weekend.

Rocket/jet-pack is what did it for me. I cannot overstate how disappointed I was when my mail-away with proof of purchase Boba Fett figure arrived without the firing rocket.

"Mom!!! Why won't this rocket come out???" :madarms:

Bah...JJ did a fantastic job rebooting the series. Star Trek fans are a weird lot. They bitch and complain about having no new TV shows and movies but they have not been supporting the franchise for years and convention attendance has been horrid. Bottom line is old school fans can't support the franchise any longer. They need a new generation of fans. In terms of box office....even using adjusted ticket inflation numbers these last 2 films are both in the top 5 films all time in box office performance in the franchise.

I am not worried about JJ and the Star Wars franchise one bit. I am more worried about who is going to do these other films. Even if JJ nails this movie and all the "side" movies suck.....it will but a taint on this franchise.
