UUGGHHH!!!!

UGLY!!!

DISGUSTING!!!!

I will review the tape and see if that causes me to change opinions about anything. But until then these are my immediate thoughts:

The results of this game indicate to me that: SOME CHANGES ...OF SOMEKIND....NEED TO BE MADE!!!!
......NOW!!!

This team appeared flat to me.
Why? WHY?
There is no reason or excuse in the world for it.

Is the main problem player talent? or more coaching?
My guess, right now, is that the coaching has to shoulder the primary brunt of the "blame" for what's happening right now.

Players say they "love" playing for Mac.
But, then if that's the case.....why aren't they?
I would think if the players had any self respect they WOULD.

But after watching this debacle today, and it deeply saddens me to say it.....It appears as if both the offensive AND the defensive play calling and planning? not only don't take advantage of the talent that IS available, but even more insidiously....actually sabotages it too.

Some people have to start being tangibly held accountable...somewhere!!!!!

Here are some things I would probably change right now, if I were puppetmaster, or Madden game-controller of this whole situation.

1. If I'm Michael Bidwill, I lay it on the line to Mac. Make some meaningful changes or he will publically be lame ducked...and word put out that they will spend the rest of the season "looking" for a new HC next year.

2. If I'm Mac, the cartoon show that is supposed to be the offensive game planning, preparation, and execution have to be corrected. No one seems to know their ass from a hole in the ground as far as running this offense.

3. Say aloha Geep Chryst. Jerry Sullivan....back to receivers coach only...and spend game time on the sideline effectively using the talents he DOES possess. Whatever the f*** problem with the system responsible for the terrible clock management issues HAS GOT TO BE CORRECTED, YESTERDAY!!!!
(I may be a little wrongfully hard on Chryst here, but that's my gut feeling at the moment...I'd be glad to hear anyone's defense of him).

4. For the time being, make Marty Galbraith the OC.

5. GET RENALDO Hill OFF THE FIELD!!! He's killing this team with his loose, soft play.

6. Sit David Barrett. Get hard-core with him to the extent that since he seems to have attracted "Martay" disease, beat him at his own game. He can be replaced very easily, especially considering the money he is evidently "demanding". This season is in the tank anyway. Sit his ass. See how much his "value" goes up then. In the meantime. start running young players in there and finding out what they can/can't do. If Barrett "shapes up" ...fine...if not...he's gone anyway. So they really have nothing to lose, and only something to gain by demoting him.

7. Sit Anthonly Clement....he's not playing "mean' enough. And, from watching tape, I feel more and more, he seems to lack upper body strength. Someone on the coaching staff needs to see that that gets changed. If he isn't willing to do what is necessary to strengthen up....then send him packing too.

It all comes down to there just doesn't seem to be the proper "accountability" ...right down the line. I think Mac has to take the resposibility for that....and if he is unwilling or unable to do that.....like I said....make it public now, that the search is now on for a replacement. (although I shudder to think of what really seems available right now).

I have been as loyal as anyone to this team and the coaches, but the time has come that the status quo just isn't getting it done....and I think now, maybe some of the players may start justifiably start giving up hope that it will too.

I don't see anything I disagree with. Solid stuff Tango.
Very frustrating.

More later. Oh well. Long live the Cardinals, dammit.

There is no point in firing the coaching staff now....who is going to take over? Let them finish the season and fire every person from the locker room janitor....to the guy who parks Geep Crysts car

Are we ever going to see Reggie Wells, who supposedly got all these raves in training camp?

PS...

A couple more changes I would make now:

McCown starts getting major playing time.

Blake has been an over-all disappointment to me so far.
His throws are inconsistant. He throws pinpoint lasers on minute, the next "pinpoint" them behind the receiver or 3 feet short of them. He's been doing that all year.

His reads don't seem very good. He just isn't getting the job done like he should be.

I was glad to see McCown come in when he did. He made one really rookie mistake.....the int where he tried forcing it into the middle after rolling left.....the kind of mistake I can overlook and write of to "learning".....if it doesn't continue.

The first int wasn't really that bad a pass. I just think he didn't see the player coming from the left. I liked the poise and mobility he did show.

Let Blake now spend some time on the sidelines and see if maybe that light a little more of a fire under him too.

Burn the offensive playbook....it appears only about 2 pages and 4-6 plays anyway.

I'd love to be able to see why the receivers don't seem to be getting open. Is is them? Poor route planning by the coaches? Blake just not seeing them? What?

I agree...firing Mac now would accomplish very little in the long run. If that change does need to be made....at the end of the year is the time. Plus if they do decide to replace him.....the sooner they announce their intention, the better....so that any decent possible candidates have plenty of time to be courted and they to give thought to the possibility.

I do think that some shake-ups in the assistant ranks might be appropriate though.

You are right. No use firing them now but do it the day the season ends.

Tango,

Solid post. I bit my tongue when you posted a couple weeks ago that "This team has finally turned the corner." Maybe they did, but they ran headlong into a bus.

We should be so lucky as to get Dennis Green. We would contend for the division next season and probably make the playoffs. I think players in this league believe he's a winner.

Would Dennis Green want to have a lot of input on personnel decisions and command a very lucrative contract? Those are 2 of my gravest concerns....

Tango, I'd say welcome to the dark side, but it's no fun. It sucks to see so many things going wrong and being able to do nothing about it but type and yell at the TV.

We damn well better fire Mac in the offseason! I bet Fassel will be available.

At this point I would go a head and start Josh McCown for the rest of the season to see what he can do. Jeff Blake is not getting it done. I am really starting to jump on the Eli Manning band wagon after watching this game.

HELL HATH FROZEN OVER! I agree with tango, on all of it.

but, and i just can't help myself now, isn't this where tango's supposed to post:

"the sky is falling! the sky is falling!"

a bunch of us just saw this coming a lot sooner. just a suggestion, but perhaps the koolaiders should not be so quick to judge the darksiders from here on out . . .

Section 11 and Tango getting along? Dogs and Cats living together......Mass hysteria!

But I agree Tango. Especially with how flat this team looked.

When you are getting paid that much you better play hard!

But what is done is done.

Peace

I think the everybody was playing hard Rugby. We were just so badly outplayed and outcoached that it was humiliating.

That is your opinion.

I don't think that MOST were playing hard. They looked flat, and more interested in getting home to spend there, whoops our, money then playing in that game.

People are saying not to fire Mac until the end of the season but what good is he doing to do between now and then. He knows that he is toast at season's end...........how effective will he be for the next 6 games?
