Pray and try to cry out all my tears so that when the guys show up I don't look like a sissy.

For away games, saturday nights I stock up on beer and get some grub ready to heat for the next day.

If it's a home game, go watch the morning games at The Vine and then head over.

Go over to my brother's house to pick him up to go down to Tempe. He usually comes out in a spitting rage telling me to go without him because his wifey-poo is pissed off at him about something.

Get down to Six Shooters about start of 2nd quarter of early game.

Eat some wings, grab a couple of cold ones. About 20 minutes before the game, walk on over to the game - grab a couple of free beers from our favorite beer vendor and prepare for battle with the enemy in Section 27.

.....but I do ALWAYS go. The wife still hasn't gotten it in her head that football is much more important than anything else she could conjure up in her tiny little world on Sunday.....

I usually curse FOX for putting on yet another 49er game! Then I curse the tree outside my girlfriend's patio for denying me access to Direct TV. Then I curse my parents for not being rich and buying me a house with a dish.

We have a dish at work but I'm afraid if I signed up for Sunday ticket someone in accounting might notice the increase in the bill and ask me about it.

Well, I give away my season tickets to my clients each year as gifts of appreciation so unless I buy a Flexpack (I have most years but didn't last year, think I will this year) for myself, I don't go to any games...except the odd single game ticket I pick up.

So I watch the early games and then I listen to the Cards game on the radio and hang in the chat room now...pretty pathetic. But my clients love it. Prior to listening to the game I sit down and practice typing swear words so I know where the keys are.

Road games, I pratice yelling swear words and I practice throwing my bad call brick and then I sit down and watch the game. This year there will be a change. Now my wife won't constantly ask me how Jake got a job in the NFL.

Wake up.

Bumble around for a while, maybe bump into something once or twice. Laugh at how completely incoherent my first sentence of the day is. General weekend morning silliness.

Shower or jump in the pool.

Put on the appropriate gear, depending on what's clean, who's still with the team, how hot out it is, etc.

Beer #1.

Scope out any news on the pewter.

Ask the better half what time we should leave (just to make sure we're on the same page with the appropriate amount of pregame activities).

Pick up the phone and solicit any and all sweat hogs who might just have a wild hair up their butt and might want to go. Tell the willing and able bodied to meet us at Dos Gringos. Tell the people that are truly unenthused about life in general and don't want to go that they're complete wuss bags.

Beer #2.

Flip on the morning games. Channel Five is a complete mess on every TV I own, so I usually watch Ch. 10.

Check the football pool. Rejoice in the fact that I'm going to win it again. And again. And again. Take extra delight in knowing that most of the money is coming from my old company.

Perform a quick voodoo ritual that ensures that every NFC team (except the Cards) loses.

Hunt around for radio, ear phones, money...

Stop what I'm doing and immediately turn down the volume when I reach my limit of Chris Collinsworth.

Put on some tunes.

Go back to securing tickets, and whatever else I was looking for.

Perform the first of several ticket checks. Note: This is one word. Ticketcheck.

Head down to Dos Gringos, home of the $2 Corona.

Order a Budweiser.

Order up some tacos.

Ticketcheck.

Hang out until it's about 45 min. till kickoff.

Head down to Fumbles.

Order a Budweiser.

Ticketcheck.

Head off to the game.

On game days, my wife drives to SDS because I have a tendency to try and run over any fans crossing in front of me wearing the opponents jersey. Somehow, it just seems to be worth a short stint in prison to be able to hear their bones crunching under the weight of my 4000 pound vehicle.

Well lets see I drive down to temple listening to

"Tunnel Vision"

all the way there. Then I run up and sit inside the Big Red Rage tent till about 10 minutes before the game starts (depends on how security is)

Get to my seat and yell at the opposing team and coachs....I sit 15 rows behind them so THEY CAN HEAR ME AND THEY ARE AFRAID...This year I am just going to tell them the Boldin is on his way out and watch them run.

Shake off Sat. Night
dress in red dickies shorts, my brand new ANDIKRIST #64 Cardinals jersey, Cardinals coaches cap, and seasonally appropriate footwear.
Leave house.
Go back into house, grab tickets.
Stop by grocery store for beer and pork loin steaks.
Drive down to $5 lot on corner of Rural and Rio Salado.
Find my Dephinger bandmates and the Rick - the "Cardinals Bandwagon".
Grill steaks, drink beer, eat steaks.
Crank up car stereo, rock and roll
toss football around.
Talk to other cardsinals fans, ignore enemy fans.

Me, my wife and a couple friends and their wives get together at my house and cookout, drink alot of beer and watch the Card games on DTV and keep an eye on the computer to see how our fantasy teams are doing. If the Cards lose we tend to break out the Jim Beam and get hammered. We usually go to a couple games a year as well. I'm hoping I won't have to break out the Beam near as much this year.

My rituals usually start on Saturday night. On the way home from whereever I may be, I stop and get beer for the morning, because they don't sell beer on Sunday's until after 10AM. Once I get home, I always watch (more like fall asleep) to Jerry Maguire. I wake up the next morning with the wake-up yell to the wife of "What time is it?". Once in a while I get the obligatory "It's game time" followed by a flying pillow, but usually I get the finger or a "SHUT UP!!!". I proceed to check and make sure I have all the Avenger gear in the truck. Then it's off to Circle K to buy smokes and ice for the cooler. By the time I get back, FoxSports Pregame show is starting. I crack a beer, and wait for the rest of the Avengers show up, so we can head to the tailgate compound!!!!

What do all of you freaks do before every game?
First off, Fall Sundays in the East are totally different from those in AZ - Our early game is at 1pm, our second game is at 4pm and the ESPN game is at or around 8:30pm. (In other words, we're not eating breakfast like you guys while we watch the early game).

Start of the day is always the same, but branches off into two or three variations:

- Up and out the door at 7:45am. Pick up Sunday editions of 5 newspapers, bagels and donuts etc. Spend a couple of hours scouring the sports sections and drinking copious amounts of coffee. Then it's downstairs to the PC to pull the latest Cardinal depth chart and set up some blank lined-pages for taking notes. Surf around the TV dial through the ESPN and Fox preview shows.

This is where the rituals branch off.

If the Cards play in the early game, it's a no brainer - I watch it on DirecTV. I'll leave the sound on until either (a) we fall behind or (b) the announcers begin to sound inane. Then I turn off the sound - I find I can concentrate better on what's going on down on the field than when some numb-nut is telling me what I'm supposed to look at.

Other rituals:

1. If I'm leaning in one direction and the Cards are doing good, I don't change my position. But if they're screwing up, I'll change positions.

2. Depending on "the direction of the karma" - I choose a logo'd Cardinal coffee mug in the morning of the game; but if I do this and they lose, I deliberately DON'T choose the Cardinal mug the following week (because obviously the karma had switched directions). (You have to continually stay on top of this or the karma will switch suddenly and we will lose).

3. This is a NYC thing - Never, never NEVER predict a Cardinal win. Always be overly humble. Become experts of the "poor-mouth." Anything less than this will jinx the team for sure.

If they play in the second game, there are two variable rituals -

1. Nothing else going on - I watch the game. Usually, Mrs. G (technically "Dr. G") will schedule dinner for about 6:30 pm - which is at or near halftime. That's where TIVO kicks in. I'll usually take an hour or two break, and then return to watch the remainder of the game in "virtual time" (although sometimes I'll leave the dinner table and "peek" at the TV).

2. Dr. G schedules dinner (at home or out) with friends - Then it's 100% TIVO on "delay" (making certain not to prematurely learn the final score).

If there's time after the game (particularly if we win) I'll try to post its write-up and play by play on the BRS before 11 pm. Otherwise, I catch up with that stuff before noon the following day.

1. when i was living in phx...wake up late and head down to 5th and mill and park in my buddy's lawn for free - head to the 'snatch for beer - head to the game and take no prisoners.

2. moved to denver last year - go to some bar by myself - watch te crappiest tv in the corner with no sound while other people either make fun of me or express sympathy. end up paying more in beer than i used to in tickets drowning my sorrows in another 49-0 loss.

3. this year...because of this board - meet up with the colorado colony of cadinal fans and form an unstoppable cheering section.

4. nov. 30, 2003, soldier field. dress all in red, paint my face, dye my hair, and watch the birds chirp and peck to death the bears (presented by Bank One) of course.

---What do all of you freaks do before every game---

I got lucky. I married a woman who is a total Sports Freak!!. She loves football more than I!!
Since I work so many different F hours, she is the one that pulls it all together.

Home games:

It usually starts on Thur. The wife see's who we are playing and goes and buys the food accordingly!! ( Gb- Brats, Philly- steak to make cheesesteaks etc.). Makes sure we have enough charcoal
( only way to go :D ). Makes sure "the tailgate box" is always filled.
Sat. night its beer night with a bag of ice to get it started.

Since i work EVERY Sunday, i go in at like 2am so i can be done by, usually 9am.
Wife gets up by like 6am and makes sure all the food is together, pre-cooks when needed (ribs), goes out and gets the ice,red misty mate, water bottles, TICKETS, loads the van and, the best, she lays out my KVB jersey, red tshirt. All I have to do at 9am is to get dressed. She is already to leave!

Away games.

Since I am working, I try to have a radio on, or I'm running back and forth to the tv. Wife calls ever now and then to give updates. Even the kids run when the Cards are away because as our kids say. " Watch out, Mom is watching the Cardinals!!!!" ( she has been known to threw things at the tv!!:D )

We don't do anything for the preseason games other than just show up. We will not be there for the Cowgirl game because to get them "written off" I have to give them away so......
We will be there for the Bears game.

Can't wait till Flag ( will be there July 28th) and also Sept!!!
GO CARDS!!!

I work for a church, so Sundays are kinda crowded for me.
Home Games:
1. Arrive at church about 7:30 am. Set up the stuff I'm in charge of. Talk Cardinal stuff with my boss and remind him it is a home game day. Since we have 3 services (9:00, 10:30, 12:00) I double check that my responsibilities are covered for the 12:00 time slot.
2. Pray
3. Grab one of my sons about 11:45, hop on my K-100 and zoom over to the parking lot North of the stadium.
3. Dodge footballs and fans who "started too early" while finding a parking spot. (prayer is also involved here)
4. Arrive in my seat, "high-five" Nidan and Bright Eyes, make predictions about the game. Argue with them about the score prediction and season prediction.
5. Pray
6. Warm up my arm for signaling a first down.
7. Enjoy the game (most of the time).

Well, for the last 4 years I would log onto the computer and read every single football site with Cardinal info I could find. Log out for lunch and to watch ESPN crew.

Put on the White or Red Plummer jersey, 'pending on if we are playing at home or on the road.

Log back onto the internet and tune in the internet radio broadcast. Log into the chat room for the game, where I can type, "BLAAM, We shoot off another toe with that mistake!!!"

When it's all over, I get to listen to my wife talk about how great her Dolphins are.

This year, new traditions begin. They will have to be honed as the season progresses. No jersey to wear, so I'll have to stay with just a Card T-Shirt for now. Direct TV takes over internet radio!

Food? I'm thinking Channello's Pizza and Wings. (Someone in here kept posting about how great they were.... I'm now hooked) Looking forward to the season, and celebrating wins this year!!!

Go Cards!!!
