I think your guess is a possibility. The kings are apparently looking at cousins in the draft and that would make landry redundant. How about barbosa/clark for landry/ garcia?

Yeah, that was me clamoring for Kevin Love. I'm not sure how accurate my information is though, but I do remember some conversations on the NBA channel from which I inferred he might be available for trade. It wasn't so much a clash with Jefferson as a clash of styles with Jefferson. Plus, Love and Rambis apparently had some issues.

They're rebounding numbers really aren't that far apart(about 3/gm)...more importantly you don't have to beg Landry to go get them.
Realistically speaking....if we were to lose an Amare and gain a PF the likes of Landry we should all be doing backflips. He plays hard,shoots a high%,is a decent rebounder,can score in bunches,has playoff experience and he plays on two good 26 yr old knees.....and he's a good character guy who the fans like from what i've read on the Houston message boards over the years.

I'm just putting out some viable options. These fantasies of players like Dirk,Bosh,Love,Jefferson coming here are laughable.

If they want to keep running this offense he has got to stay. Plus there isn't a realistic option to let him go or do a S&T with another team. Dirk is a nice player, but it doesn't seem realistic.

It would be interesting though to see Amare opt out and be the second tier FA that a team will have to dump a lot of money after losing the Lebron/Wade sweepstakes.

It's just the "One more year" stuff that is funny. specifically back when coach D was wanting to do the SSOL again, when it's been proved over an over that what this team needs is some defense to get PAST the WCF. This year's team had some potential, so it's not entirely disheartening to have them give it another shot.

That's probably true....the problem is that Amare doesn't GIVE what he is capable of giving, which is what is so frustrating. His exit interview said he just wants to win a championship...if that is his goal...then he should be determined and put it all out on the court for EVERY game...not just the one's he feels like participating in. As much as I hate Kobe...you could see the determination on his face that he was not going to be denied...and guess what...he's going to the Finals...

I know it all sounds familiar. I'm just trying to wind down after the season.

However, if one steps away from it and forgets about systems, coaching styles, etc., the Suns were factually a very good team over the past six years less Porter. A lot of teams would view the Suns as a huge success story. I believe a team can be very successful without winning a championship although it really hurts not having one after all these years.

The Suns should pick up Viktor Khryapa as an additional big man if he returns to the NBA. Although he is listed at 6'9" he can play inside. He got frustrated in Chicago because of his lack of playing time. He is not the answer at PF but he can play all three front line positions and play tough inside. He first caught my eye when he played for Portland. I think he would definitely improve the Suns.

Oops--sorry, my vote for Dirk just put him in the lead. Some of us may be voting with our hearts rather than our heads there. Of course, I'm doing so with the suumption that Amare walks, which might not happen after all.

I'm going to vote for Frye. My prediction is that Amare will opt out, but the Suns won't offer him a max contract for the amount of years he wants. Some other team will. The Suns won't like any sign-and-trade offers so they let him walk in hopes of signing a free agent to replace him. They'll court Dirk but he'll re-sign with the Mavs. Then they'll court David Lee, but he'll go somewhere else. Then they'll re-sign Frye to a 5M/year deal and stick him in the starting lineup next to Lopez. I do hope I'm wrong about this. I don't mind keeping Frye but for a little less than that and not to start. If Amare is gone, I hope we can get at least Lee. But he'll be coveted by a lot of teams that can't get a Bosh or a Boozer.

As for Dirk, Nash was asked about the possibility of being reunited:

Nash on a scenario that Amar'e Stoudemire leaves Phoenix and his former Dallas buddy, Dirk Nowitzki, opts out of his contract and joins the Suns: "I always assume that he's going to re-sign in Dallas. I haven't thought about it but obviously I had a great time playing with him."

Right now teams can't comment about players who aren't free agents yet, so we won't hear about any potential interest the Suns may have. And Nash certainly won't say anything that would indicate he rather play with someone else than Amare. So not much can be read into those comments. But I think it's a possibility the Suns may and should explore.

The interesting thing is that teams cannot talk now in any way, shape or form about upcoming FA players but players can get together, if they so desire, and discuss where they would like to go.
