It's the last pre-season game and their off until next Thursday so I'm not worried about minutes tonight. It's going to be hard to rest the starters with only 10 healthy players, but I wouldn't be surprised if D'Antoni rests the starters pretty much all of the 4th qtr like he did against Denver.

I'm just frustrated. Something like this could happen during the regular season especially with the frontline.

Well just a bad shooting for Marks(1/5), Banks(1/6), and Strawberry(1/8).
Suns are also shooting 29% from three point range.

Are Wilcox and KT having a layup drill? Their shooting percentages indicate not much defense.

Other way around next week when we clown them on TNT with their prized young star. Finally, preseason is over.

Getting slammed in preseason is not what worries me so much. However, this game shows how woefully thin the Suns are on the front line. And Marks cannot do much even when he is given ample opportunity to shine.

Marks + Banks + Pike = Wasted Bench Space

Who are they going to pick up - better than Marks - that costs =< than Marks?

Just got back from the game!

It was good to see live basketball back in Vancouver, even if it is a fairly meaningless preseason game.

Some notes:
Amare - Had some quick moves and even hit a 3. The 3 was in the flow of the offense and wilcox (I think) had backed wayyy off him. Still got one of the best hands in the games, caught some tough passes and finished beautifully after getting fouled.

Defense - Still a problem. The most worrying thing was that the Suns were playing a doubling/trapping defense when Marion was defending on the block. I counted at least 3 times where Grant or Bell doubled down on it and the rest of the team had to scramble to rotate. I never liked this defensive strategy.

Rookies - Had to see first hand what Strawberry's capabilities were on defense and was relatively impressed. Contained his man for the most part, rotated well and had active hands. Was quick to stab at a loose ball and resulted in a breakaway the other way. Didn't shoot particularly well (had an airball 3) but wasn't bogging the offense down that bad.

Tucker shot decently although his mechanics don't look quite as nice as Strawberrys (looks to have a lower release point). He's in a bit of a tough spot as there just aren't that many minutes for a backup 3.

KT - I miss him already. Killed the suns with an array of mid range jumpers. Solid on the boards, defensive anchor. It pains me to see him in green and white.

Marion - Got blocked a couple times by Wilcox and looked generally uninterested this game. At least that was the feel I got. I may have been the only guy wearing a Marion jersey in a sea of orange Nash jerseys.

Fans - Gave a standing O for Nash and was chanting for D'Antoni to get him back in the game for the last few minutes of the 4th. D'Antoni (wisely) wouldn't have any of it but the crowd was pretty fun.

I got a few pictures that I'll upload at some point.

IMO The pre season shows nothing, nada, zero.

It generally is something fans can freak out about because it looks like a real game and smells like a real game but it is a total fake game, where players don't care.

But if you for to the board in six weeks and say "hey remember that pre season game against the Sonics!!!", people will laugh you off the board. That's because fans are myopic as hell but soon realize after the season starts how meaningless the pre season was.

but I think you actually found something that the preseason shows us.
Marks will quickly shoot himself into never playing again...every bad shot he takes puts him closer and closer.

In a van...down by the river.
Thats great that you got to see the SUNS up there in B.C.
I still have yet to watch a pre season game myself.
KT - I miss him already.
Get used to that.
I also can't stand the double down post defense. It causes to many open shots & alot of the time those open shots are 3PT attempts, which kind of defeats the purpose of double teaming IMO. K.T won't be missed much until the playoffs though.
It's really too bad that he was traded for $$$. I'm trying to be calm on that subject(an underrated piece of the puzzle)
Looking forward to those pics Sunsfan 69.

Marks hates contact. Like I always said, he's just a good practice player where it's less physical. He should be warming up the bench by the 1st regular season game.
I can't convince myself that he's in preseason mode thats why he's not playing that well.

This was the only game of the preseason he hasn't played well. Do the previous 5 games where he did play well mean nothing? And why does THIS preseason game mean more than the previous ones?

this is where i feel skinner is far better than marks. he knows how a real game goes, and is certainly not afraid to take/give a good hit

He was atrocious in the Denver game too. But these two bad games in a roll might just be a fluke.;)

Yeah, seeing small denver players whiz around him and get putbacks and offensive rebounds while marks was also shooting from 18 or so feet out was too much. The guy needs to stay on the bench.

I think it's going to be interesting to see which two players are designated "inactive" for the regular season games and have to watch the game in street clothes. Usually that was Marks and Jumaine Jones last year.

Pike is one for sure....maybe Tucker?

There's no reason for Tucker to be listed as inactive. It would be counterproductive for the team and his development.

I agree that Pike should be one. However, Tucker is developing quite nicely and actually knows how to get inside and score. If the Suns were not trying to make something out of a bad contract, Banks should be the other. I look for the inactive list to be a swinging door beyond Pike on a game to game basis.

We only have 13 players on the roster, so only one has to be inactive. That will most certainly be Pike.
