Of recent picks, the Suns keep only Tucker, Lopez and Dragic. The Suns used to have some of the best scouting in the NBA. It seemed the Suns scouting department went south with the death of long time scout Dick Percudani.

Griffin and Kerr should leave scouting to professionals because they do not know what they are doing.

I was big on Robin Lopez and I still am. If you are expecting him to become a starting caliber center on 30 NBA rosters, you are going to be disappointed.

Lopez is exactly what the Suns needed, a back up C/PF who is athletic, can rebound, plays defense and blocks shots. Lopez is going to be a solid rotation guy at least.

He isnt his brother, but I think he has a lot of potential. You have to remember this guy is barely 19, is still developing his shot and mid range game, and he was in high school 2 years ago. Big men take time to develop, but Lopez is going to be at least a good rotation guy off the bench and I think he can be that this year.

As for McGee, he was all potential and nobody expected him to play this well this early. With that said, the Suns drafting him would have been a huge risk because they needed their #1 pick to come in and play minutes right away. Lopez, while still needing develoment, was ready to play a role right away.

Comon now, you cant expect every rookie to pull a Durant, Mayo, or Rose. Let the kid develop. He will be fine, just give him some freaking time to develop.

No, but I don't expect people to write that he can rebound, when he clearly can't. I never said he should be the next rebouding god, I said he doesn't rebound (you said he does).

Well I for one am willing to give him a pass after the first 30 games. Ill let him actualy get some playing time to develop before changing my opinion.

I dont think he is going to be a great rebounder, but I think he can rebound and will be decent at it, maybe not right now. Like I said, solid role player with lots of potential and athleticism.

He's been awful. He cannot hang onto the ball! I get so frustrated watching him constantly miss dunks and lose the ball!

I wonder where I could find a stat on missed dunks, I bet he has 3x as many missed dunks as he does dunks! Actually, I don't know that I've ever seen him finish a dunk in an NBA game...

the main reason they took robin over the other bigs that were on the board was because someone felt he would be able to contribute now and the other guys wouldn't. i don't really like that philosophy. i think you take the player that will become the best player, not the one who can give you a small amount of production immediately. For that reason, i would say i am not satisfied with the pick. I think we could have done a little better

dude needs to work on his hands big time. Every assistant coach and little used player needs to bombard him with passes every day then make him chase rebounds till he drops. Probably better to give him an out - like 50 in a row without the ball hitting the floor, for each drill.

Lopez is a major project, just to be a servicable bench player. Amundsen is way better. It appears that 3-4 bigs taken after him are better players(speichts, Magee, kostas). Lopez is like an inexperienced stephen hunter but not nearly as quick, and he cant finish at all in traffic. his whopping 5 boards a game in college appear to be a good predictor of his rebounding. He's a big body, but I'd rather they play dudley more and lopez less. Amundsen has earned the rotation spot for sure, he rebounds and hustles. I've never seen a big guy who has the rebound fly by him so much as lopez. Maybe if he would just keep his hands up, he could get a deflection at least.

One of the gripes I have with lopez is that (besides the rebounding) he gets in the way of the offense, when he is involved in a set play.

Yeah but on a per minute basis these guys got 2x as many boards as Lopez. Lopez gets one board for every 6.5 minutes on the floor, that is scary bad for a big man. For comparison the rookies jake voskuhl and Jake tsakalidis rebound rates was at 4.2, and 3.7, respectively. Two jakes were way better than lopez, that is discouraging.
