Good for Porter calling him out. I am glad to see Suns have a coach who calls player out instead of having his brother write them love letters. Also, good for Lopez for taking criticism well.

I'll be happier when he responds to the criticism well.

I guess Porter just needs to call him out some more so he can get better.

Actually Shaq and Amare need to hold him down while Porter shaves his head. :D

After the Suns second day of practicing for over an hour-and-a-half, Terry Porter called Lopez out for not being ready to play.

"He doesn't seem to have the focus. Missing balls."

I think that pretty much sums it up right there.

Well then you should be embarrassed even more at your silly comment on the notes.

They showed one of the notes on camera once. First of all, it was in English. And secondly, "love letter" is pretty apt. There's nothing wrong with Stefan's characterization.

Wow, hypocrite.

Do I have to go back through all your comments on the board and post the ones where you critique the personnel, or do you want to apologize for being an ass and take it back?

Wow, liar.

Please do. You won't find any posts where I profess to know more about evaluating talent, building a team, paying millions of dollars, etc. than the Suns front office. If you're going to post that Kerr is a moron and that you saw it coming, be prepared to receive a note about joining the staff to use your superior knowledge in helping the Suns win a championship.

Do you want to apologize for being a crybaby?

First of all, find someone here who claims to know more than the scouts and coaches. I think you've been reading everything out of context, as everyone here is questioning the coaches, players, scouts, etc. along with voicing their disapproval.

Things you do quite well actually:

Here you are questioning porter's lineups
You spend three months putting your starting line-up and bench substitutions together and then 11 games into the season (of which you are 8-3) you futz around with different line-ups? Why?
<insert join the staff superior knowledge blah blah comment here>

Here you are so confident that you know what is going through a coach's head that you're willing to put your money where your mouth is
I'll bet a lot of teams are scared of LB. I'll bet when LB gets up and goes to the scorer's table, the opposing coaches start chewing on their lips as they look down their own bench. "Have we got ANYONE that can stay in front of this kid?"
Here you are labeling Dantoni's coaching system and assigning value to certain players
on a team with a tissue-thin defensive scheme (the D'Antoni regime), Raja Bell was much more valuable. Now that everyone (well, almost everyone) is playing D, it actually exposes Bell's streaky offense as more of a liability.

(insert "DUH!" noise here)
Im sure Dantoni has called his system "tissue thin" before, so this wouldnt be criticism, right? And Bell is a libility? Strong words for unbiased nonfiction.<insert join the staff superior knowledge blah blah comment here>

Here's an interesting gem: seems you're inferring that the refs controlled the game through their actions.

Judge, jury and executioner on that one, mr armchair. You didn't even question or criticize them on this one actually, you just labeled them as game-changers and went on your merry way. I believe they're hiring at the referee company, would you like me to get their contact number for you?<insert join the staff superior knowledge blah blah comment here>

Here you are opposing Porter's "experimenting" again with starting lineups during the season by swapping Hill back in as a starter. Seems like you have concrete restrictions on the Experimenting calendar. Have you talked to Porter about his insuboardnation?
Experimenting is for training camp and practice, particularly if what you are doing in a game is pretty much working.
<insert join the staff superior knowledge blah blah comment here>

And the piece de resistance, here you are laying the groundwork on how to evaluate talent and get a deal done. Something you claim no one on this board knows how to do and shouldnt be making opinions about. Maybe you're thinking of writing a "Trading Players in the NBA for Dummies" book. I'll keep a lookout on Amazon
You don't wait for someone to call you and offer their veteran big man. If you have a hole to fill, YOU make the calls. YOU make the offer. Then the other guy laughs and hangs up. There are a finite number of veteran guys in the NBA that you would take at any given position. It's not impossible.
Looks to be a great preface for a compelling how-to book.

MY point is that we all do it. In fact, a lot of these quotes came from sections where you agreed with me on something. Why try to call out your fellow posters for something you do as well as them? Why even bother coming to an internet message board if you're going to insult people who share criticisms, disapproval and opinions?

We're all fans, and most of us are paying fans in some form. You buy tickets to a game, or season pass for your tv, jerseys and coffee mugs, and spend countless hours hoping to enjoy success of your team, and they don't deliver as you hoped, so you sound off your disappointment. If you buy a Chevy the year the CEO says he has hired new developers to improve the performance of a certain line of cars, and as you drive it home a wheel falls off, your first reaction is going to be "Why the hell didn't they make this car with more secure wheels?!" If someone came up to you on the street and taunted you saying "Oh Mr. Big Shot here thinks he can build a car better than Chevy, why don't you go work there and make everything better?!" you're probably going to punch them in the face for their audacity.

what i just don't get is if you disagree with someone's assessment of talent, just disagree. why belittle their contribution to the board? i mean, i have eyes and i watch a lot of hoops. i can make my own assessment (which i do all the time) based on what i see and my experience. only time and experience will tell if i'm right or wrong. likewise kerr is only human also and basis his assessment on what he sees and his experiences. likewise time and experience will tell if he's right or wrong. i have to say, thus far, it seems my assessment is more accurate. the fact that kerr has a title doesn't make his assessment more accurate in the face of evidence to the contrary. hell, if you don't like this type of criticism why the hell are you posting on the board? most of what these boards are about is personal opinion and conjecture, with a little news sprinkled in from time to time.

First of all, find someone here who claims to know more than the scouts and coaches. I think you've been reading everything out of context, as everyone here is questioning the coaches, players, scouts, etc. along with voicing their disapproval.

This is a classic move. Become a literalist to narrow the argument into a position so you have less of a chance of losing. Someone posting that they saw it coming, that they are proven right, that Kerr is a moron says to me that they think they know better.

Things you do quite well actually:

Here you are questioning porter's lineups
<insert join the staff superior knowledge blah blah comment here>

Wrong. I was actually criticizing another poster's call for Porter to experiment with lineups only 11 games into the season. Read the thread before you extract quotations.

Here you are so confident that you know what is going through a coach's head that you're willing to put your money where your mouth is

And how is that criticizing a coach or inferring that I know more than he does? It doesn't. Wrong again.

Here you are labeling Dantoni's coaching system and assigning value to certain players

Im sure Dantoni has called his system "tissue thin" before, so this wouldnt be criticism, right? And Bell is a libility? Strong words for unbiased nonfiction.<insert join the staff superior knowledge blah blah comment here>

I responded to comments about Kerr and scouting talent, building a team, the Suns front office. I never implied that D'Antoni or Bell, players or coaches should be off limits to scrutiny. So another wrong answer.

Here's an interesting gem: seems you're inferring that the refs controlled the game through their actions.
Judge, jury and executioner on that one, mr armchair. You didn't even question or criticize them on this one actually, you just labeled them as game-changers and went on your merry way. Wait. You offer this as an example and then admit it doesn't fit? Game officials are not in charge of Suns' player personnel are they? Also, if you can't see that post as a joke...

Here you are opposing Porter's "experimenting" again with starting lineups during the season by swapping Hill back in as a starter. Seems like you have concrete restrictions on the Experimenting calendar. Have you talked to Porter about his insuboardnation?
<insert join the staff superior knowledge blah blah comment here>

Again, you are wrong. The response was to a poster who wanted Porter to experiment 11 games into the season. My position on that thread was to give Porter some respect and lee-way.

And the piece de resistance, here you are laying the groundwork on how to evaluate talent and get a deal done. Something you claim no one on this board knows how to do and shouldnt be making opinions about. Maybe you're thinking of writing a "Trading Players in the NBA for Dummies" book. I'll keep a lookout on Amazon Looks to be a great preface for a compelling how-to book.

Again, out of context. I am actually defending the Suns front office in that thread. That was a response to a poster who criticized the Suns' trading woes.

MY point is that we all do it. In fact, a lot of these quotes came from sections where you agreed with me on something. Why try to call out your fellow posters for something you do as well as them? Why even bother coming to an internet message board if you're going to insult people who share criticisms, disapproval and opinions?

"Insult"? Grow a thicker skin. Posting the Suns job line number is an insult?

We're all fans, and most of us are paying fans in some form. You buy tickets to a game, or season pass for your tv, jerseys and coffee mugs, and spend countless hours hoping to enjoy success of your team, and they don't deliver as you hoped, so you sound off your disappointment. If you buy a Chevy the year the CEO says he has hired new developers to improve the performance of a certain line of cars, and as you drive it home a wheel falls off, your first reaction is going to be "Why the hell didn't they make this car with more secure wheels?!" Sounding off disappointment and posting like you could do better are different in my book. If the wheel fell off the Chevy, the know-it-alls here would not post "Why the hell didn't they make this car with more secure wheels?!" they'd say "I KNEW it! The president of the company is a MORON!" (the president of the company may very well BE a moron, but it's beyond the scope of the poster's ACTUAL knowledge).

Don't be a dick.

Excellent way to finish. You complain that I tell people not to be a dick and then you tell me not to be a dick.

Learn to take a joke or get out.

yeah he's really been nice this year. his defense and shooting have impressed me. he and fernandez have both made it into the starting lineup at points during the year. Chalmers has also been spectacular. he really got overlooked in the draft, i think.

EDIT: George Hill has been a solid 10 ppg guy with some nice defense out in san antonio too. San antonio's scouting staff must really be top notch. they found ginobili, parker, and hill all pretty late and they've all turned out to be wonderful players (at least Hill has been to this point).

Agreed, this scouting staff also found Luis Scola in the second round, thank goodness that the Spurs were unable to get him out of his contract with TAU.

Dont they also have Tiago Splitter coming in a season or two?

Splitter just signed a new multi year deal last summer and made comments about wanting to be the go to guy in Europe as opposed to a role player in the NBA.
