I think this is solid evidence as to why I prefer Palmer. Has played with mostly ho/hum receivers on a poorly staffed team, and some good but Prima-Dona types who are all about ME, in Cincy. He surely would prosper with our receivers. Second, he can throw the ball in the cold, the wet, and the wind, (all of which we will have to be able to do in our 2011 games in the North-East). He's the guy for me if we can get his owner to trade.

Regardless of who we go after, let's hope it isn't Kolb. This backs up what many of us feel.

That's the problem I have with Kolb. I have no idea of he will be any good. The asking price is HUGE a big pick and a big contract. For a Guy that is unproven.

Many of us??

It's funny you mention that because recently, I sent a mass text message to all of my friends who are Cards fans (I was bored waiting at the car wash) and asked who they wanted at QB next season. Each and everyone responded with Kolb.

I dont think people feel Kolb isnt a good option, but rather they see the reported asking price and balk at it and/or disqualify Kolb's positive characteristics and past productivity. If ESPN came out and said tomorrow that Phily is now only asking for a 3rd rounder in exchange, then he becomes the next coming of Joe Montana in the eyes of the average fans.

I think people only see a small window of success and dont believe it to be sufficient enough. This is symptomatic of the Cardinals as a whole: being conservative about our selection at QB. Does any transaction for Kolb come with a risk? Most definitely. But each possible QB we might sign comes with zero guarantee. And Kolb, IMO, has the best opportunity for long-term success. Cards need to take the risk on a guy who can possibly solidify the position for many years to come.

If Fitz says he would like Kolb and it's enough to keep him in AZ, that's good enough for me. I'll take his opinion over all you arm chair analysts every day of the week.

AJ Feely, exactly. If Kolb played for the Texans in the same situation, there wouldn't be near the hype.

Just curious?
When and where did Fitz say this?

Hell, while we're at it, let's make him GM!

Warner thinks Palmer is the best fit, as someone who actually played the position in Whiz's offense, I'll take his opinion over Fitz.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Cardinals have asked Fitzgerald for his opinion following a disastrous season when the Cardinals went from Derek Anderson to rookies Max Hall and John Skelton.

Per the report, Fitzgerald’s first choice was Kevin Kolb, who remains under contract to the Philadelphia Eagles and won’t come cheaply. He also listed Marc Bulger, and it’s unknown how much Bulger has left to give after a year of clipboard-toting in Baltimore.

Conjecture from last Feburary.
If you really believe that drivel, I've got some real estate deals I think you'd be interested in.

You're right. That's what we are. Are you not one too? If not, why bother reading what you see here?

As for the topic at hand, even though I wear a Fitz jersery to games, I'll join with those who would be wary of Kolb.

I typically believe Schefter, and was not surprised when that came out. If Fitz is going to sign a long-term, lucrative deal with the Cardinals, wouldn't he want a skilled QB who will also be there long-term as well?

With Andy Reid's used car salesman banter (after reading this) I wouldn't touch Kolb with a ten foot pole. It's all hype, we got stuck with the DA and his probowl hype last year.

Schefter is a clearing house that regurgitates information and rumors from sports writers across the country.

How can you say or prove Kolb is skilled? Stats don't prove that?

How can you prove that Fitz said that?
It's nothing but conjecture at best, in other words a rumor.

Or wishful thinking on your part?

As for Kolb, have you seen him play? He is aggressive, can read defenses and make all of the throws. It goes above and beyond what an ESPN stat sheet would tell you. He has only made spot starts his entire career and was productive more often than not. He's ready to take the next step to being a franchise QB.

No one ever said a move for Kolb comes with no risk, but if the team decides not to take the risk and he goes and lights it up for another team for several years and the Cardinals continue to flounder, fans are going to be pissed

Keep buying into the hype.
Hell, we might as well crown his ass now. :)

He is no better then Skelton.
As a matter of fact I heard a rumor the Fitz loves the way Skelton throws the ball.

Yet you're taking as gospel a guy who takes a small sample of stats to skew them any way he sees fit.Every NFL person I have heard has nothing but good things to say about Kolb.

Bottom line is, none of us know how Kolb will perform. Everyone is balking at giving up a #1 for him, yet look at last 10 years of Cards drafts and, other than Fitz, and there is nothing special(jury still out on DRC/Wells/Williams). And that's with the Cards drafting in the top 10 almost every year. There's no doubt I'd take a chance on a young guy who has had success in the league. If he fails, so what. You have to take risks. The Cards could just as easily draft another Wendell Bryant next year if they save the pick.

If Kevin Kolb is the second coming of Matt Schaub, why is he worth a first-round pick when Schaub only brought two #2's? If the price is higher than Matt Schaub's, I hope the Cardinals quickly move on to plan B. That seems to be what Kent Somers is thinking will happen.

If he plays like Schaub does, then he is easily worth a 1st round pick. That's like using Drew Brees's value as a 2nd rounder because that's where he was drafted. They both have performed above their perceived value at the time.

Naturally, it only matters what the team thinks. I have a lot of faith in Steve Keim (College Scouting) but not as much in TJ McCreight (Spelling?) (Pro Scouting).
