Are you dense? 2/3 of all shots in the NBA are jumpers. Every player would prefer that every opposing player in the NBA take a jump shot compared to a layup or Dunk. Comparing percentages of dunking or layups compared to jump shots makes ZERO sense. We already know you would rather give up a jump shot. That's goes for every player.

No it does not apply to every player. Are you dense? It's called gameplanning Amare. His jumper is not his strength.

However, that doesn't mean you want that player to take open looks if he shoots a good percentage. That makes zero sense. Compare Amare's EFG% (.467) to other Powerforward/centers in the league. He is one of the best. Hell Amare has a better EFG% then Kobe who is at .457. So I would rather Kobe take jump shots then drive to the basket too. That doesn't mean I want to sag off Kobe or any other shooter (around 45%) in this league. That would be stupid.

The only thing stupid was your Amare to Kobe comparison.

So since when is 46% a bad jump shooting percentage? Are you kidding me? Again, please leave Amare open for jumpers. Please. In fact, please pass on that wonderful bit of coaching to Phil and ask him to institute that on all opposing players against the Lakers.

You're hilarious dude. Getting personally offended that I said Pau should sag off Amare. I NEVER SAID AMARE WAS A BAD JUMP SHOOTER. Learn to read. I said he was decent. I never implied he didn't have a jumper. Stop arguing semantics.

Again..DUH. That applies to EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IN THE NBA.

Again no it doesn't. Trust me, you'd rather have Derek Fisher driving to the hoop than him shooting a wide open 3 pointer.

Show me a list of players that don't shoot a higher percentage close up via dunks or layups compared to their jumpers?!?!?!?!? If 46% wasn't good enough then coaches wouldn't bother adjusting to Amare (playing him tighter) like they always do during games.

Again, you're not making any sense. I never said 46% 'wasn't good enough' (work on the reading comprehension). It's simple, age old basketball logic. Any team in the league would rather have Amare beat them with jumpers than him running rampant in the paint.

In fact why put a hand up at all against any player who shoots around 46% on jumpers. Useless right?

Nice strawman.

Show me the last game where Amare has been made irrelevant...PERIOD? Any big man who can hit 46% of the time from the outside will never be considered irrelevant.

Reading comprehension is your friend. I was talking about Lamar Odom.

Runner up to the biggest "Duh" statement of the year. That goes for all players. Again, doesn't mean you would want someone with a good percentage to shoot open jumpers by sagging off.

No, it doesn't. And yes, teams would rather have Amare shooting jumpers.

Thank god you don't coach for teams in the NBA. Most coaches would salivate at an opportunity for a decent jump shooter to get open looks on a nightly basis by some idiotic strategy of saggin off.

Haha, keep telling yourself that. At least I can actually read. You don't even know what 'sagging off' actually means.

Suns suck. Aristotle sucks. Lying rules. Lakers all the way!!!! Suns will never win a championship. Nash is a little bi@tch that takes flops every other play casue he has no defense. AMare, with his big @ss necklace a tthe all star weekend, what a douchebag. Raja bell has no D against Kobe, all he can do is clothesline him to stop him. Hahahaha. trollers rule. Long Live LA, Long Live Trollers, Kick me off if you're afraid of the truth. ahahahaha.

 who knew?

I think from this last post I may have been giving you just a little too much credit with the Arisotle references.

Kinda hope Shaq fouls out tonight just so he can use all 6 and knock the crap out Gasol, Odum, and Kobe a few times. SHould be a good game for Suns fans lakers will just wine and say they lost becuase they were without Bynum. Like Bynum is some allstar or something geesh.

I think you are officially the dumbest Lakers fan ever. Show me a list of players where a players jumper is more of a strength then shooting around the basket or dunking (assuming he can). The list would be very small. Probably less then 1% of the entire league.

For most players thier jumpers are not their strength (especially big men) wen comparing the layup or dunk percentages to jump shooting percentages. Not all but most. Percentages say in the NBA you have a better percentage around the bucket or by dunking. Again DUH! That doesn't mean I would still want that player to take a good look at a jump shot.

he only thing stupid was your Amare to Kobe comparison.

Your right using their EFG% to compare how stupid your argument was about jump shooting verses shots around the hoop have no bearing. Your right. What was I thinking...... I would much rather have Kobe drive or dunk then shoot a jumper. :doi:

You're hilarious dude. Getting personally offended that I said Pau should sag off Amare. I NEVER SAID AMARE WAS A BAD JUMP SHOOTER. Learn to read. I said he was decent. I never implied he didn't have a jumper. Stop arguing semantics.

Not personally offended at all. You said Pau should sag off Amare because of his jump shooting was not as good as his around the basket shots and dunking percentages. I said that's stupid because it's a good enough percentage when comparing jump shooting percentages in the NBA. That's not a semantic. That's a fact. If all coaches took that approach there would be no defense played in the NBA.

Again no it doesn't. Trust me, you'd rather have Derek Fisher driving to the hoop than him shooting a wide open 3 pointer.
Again, you're not making any sense. I never said 46% 'wasn't good enough' (work on the reading comprehension). It's simple, age old basketball logic. Any team in the league would rather have Amare beat them with jumpers than him running rampant in the paint.

The stats don't back that up for most players in the NBA. Higher percentage shots are around the bucket then from midrange to long range shots. So again, it doesn't mean I want players in the NBA who shoot around 45% to get open looks by sagging off.

No, it doesn't. And yes, teams would rather have Amare shooting jumpers.
Haha, keep telling yourself that. At least I can actually read. You don't even know what 'sagging off' actually means.

:lmao: LMAO. Show me a coach in the NBA that says "I would rather have player X drive or dunk then take a jump shot". Ofcourse that is true as it is for 99% of all players in the NBA. That doesn't mean you sag off and leave them open. If Amare or any other player for that matter shot 30% or less then OK. That's not Amare.

Yep, I am sure you sound coaching strategies have been missed by the masses in the NBA. I am sure you missed your calling in life.

PS Saggin off - definition - giving spacing to another player to encourage him to be a spot up shooter (i.e. jump shot).

Funny coming from a Suns fan where Donaghy hand fed you a victory against the Lakers in last season's playoffs.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever read in my entire life. You are an idiot.

This got moved off of the front page, and I'm not sure why... but Nash will be taking live questions after the game on the drive home. This is what was posted on Lakersground:

http://www.livevideo.com/stevenash

LiveVideo.com kicks off by Premiering "Drive Home with Steve Nash", the first live, direct fan interaction with an NBA superstar. Nash's first LiveVideo.com stream will take place on Wednesday evening, February 20 following the highly anticipated Phoenix Suns / LA Lakers Match-up, which also marks Shaquille O'Neal's first game as a Phoenix Sun and his return to Los Angeles.

Steve Nash, the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, will connect with fans via the LiveVideo.com site approximately 45 minutes following the conclusion of a game when he enters his car to drive home. During his drive home, Nash will provide fans with his take on the game -- its highlights and lowlights, and answer fan questions in real time. This unique, dynamic format represents the first ever live fan Q&A opportunity with an NBA superstar following a game.

"LiveVideo.com is leading the evolution of online content and community," said Brad Greenspan, chairman of LiveUniverse. "Our technology, exclusive content and usability place LiveVideo.com at the forefront of this digital revolution."

Greenspan continued, "We're incredibly excited to have an athlete of Steve Nash's caliber launch his direct fan interaction on LiveVideo.com. Programs such as 'Drive Home with Steve Nash' are indicative of the type of unique content and creativity you can expect from our site. LiveVideo.com is ushering in a new age of online entertainment and community."

Oh, sorry.. I'm not advertising anything. I just dont' know where else to put it, and this is a Suns board. By all means, if you think it's fishy, take it down please, but it sounded real interesting to me.

Anyways, good luck tonight, to Suns fans, should be a measure of how Shaq fares for you guys the rest of the year.

Because spam is not appreciated here.

Not really spam since it applies to the star of their team taking questions.

If it made your junk bigger, it would be spam. And beebeard would be all over it. :D (j/k, bb).

I didn't take it as Spam either. I thought it was kind of cool. Unless your working for that site or trying to promote it, it shouldn't be considered spam. I took it as a Suns fan passing on something cool to follow Nash.

I hope Nash doesn't wreck when doing this interactive experience on his drive home. That's just weird.

I'm actually a Laker's fan, but I'm a fan of basketball first, and while I was browsing this forum (which I like to lurk and read, btw) I couldn't find anything about that Drive Home thing, so... just thought Suns fans should know if anybody should, lol.

My apologies bro. We get some spam or bot posts from time to time and that being your first post looked fishy.

We have a full Lakers thread in the Smack Shack forum, so be sure to hit that up. :)

Yeah, I guess since that was my first post, it did look fishy, heh. I'll be sure to hitup that Smack Shack thread. During the NFL season, I browse the Cardinals forum too (49ers fan :D )

Anyhow, if any mod or well-known user could maybe identify the site as legit (after the game) http://www.livevideo.com/stevenash maybe they could make an official post on the forum. It's something I think a lot of Suns fans would be interested in seeing, and would be a shame if people didn't have a chance.

Yeah, the LiveVideo thing is real. The site was started by the founder of MySpace which I guess explains why it looks all amateurish. (ooo ICE burn ;) )

Ummmm a writer described his opinion of the teams opinion of Kome, no direct quote about what a great teammate Kome is. He gave him a tip.
I'm sure Bynum is all warm and fuzzy now with Kome after his words over the summer.

I've seen Bynum say as much. He said they made him work harder to prove himself. And Kobe likes hard workers, and has gushed about Bynum working hard. And Bynum has said "it's cool that he recognizes it, because I am working really hard."

Their on-court and on-bench demeanor shows no issues, either.

Kome..whatever. Hate on, hate on.
