I was thinking gesicki then Rudolph. Rudolph most closely approximates Maxx.Your list.
Zach Ertz
Mike Gesicki
Lee Smith
Kyle Rudolph
Evan Engram (but he is less of a blocker than any on the list)
I don't believe the Bucs are trading Howard at this point.
Same with Njoku since he is more valuable in their offense than OBJ.
So, best blocker replacement is probably Rudolph. Best all around is Gesicki.
My thinking is there is not who can block and catch like Maxx available in the league this time of the year. It is rather easier to find someone who can run block great and occasionally catch a pass to keep the element of surprise. Players with these skills are likely to be available in practice squads across the league. If they can find someone with Maxx skills that would be terrific.
Didn't even warm me up before you gave it to me. Dang.Chopper was also wrong with just about all of his offseason prognostications
I knew you’d take it with the intended good humor.Didn't even warm me up before you gave it to me. Dang.
The player may be sitting on his ass in AZ already...I am an active Keim hater. But no GM can find a player to come into 53 man roster, pickup offense and prove it in one week.
Kyler was hurt. Sounded like they said he had a bicep soreness. Maxx going down is going to be big but hopefully we can find someone somewhat similar. Hudson I feel won't miss a game.
That showed team character and what respect Maxx hadI will say that, when Maxx went down and they were bringing out the cart, the entire team left the sideline to cross the field to see him. The entire team. I don't think I've ever seen that before. Just a testament to what he means to these guys.
I don't know that he is available especially since Gronk is out. The only thing they likely would trade him for would be secondary help which we really don't have to offer.Trade for OJ Howard man I don’t care how bad he been in Tampa this year
That is why I think you have to either give up very little or get someone who is under contract for an extra year (or extend them with the trade). Also means if you are going to make a move, making it sooner vs later will be key. It's not about just finding someone. Say we went big and traded for Gesicki as Chopper wants this is a complicated play book for the TE. A lot is asked of them in how they line up, blocking etc. Maxx has it all down, even Daniels doesn't and he's been here years. It would take a while for anyone knew to be comfortable.
Maxx would be a huge loss if out a long time. He's underrated in this offense. He's quite a crucial cog in the machine.
Add TE to a position of need next year. Along with pass-rusher
I've never had a real problem with Maxx (the SF game last year he was bad) but no matter how you feel about him currently, there is no denying he was flat out balling this year. I could care less about previous years, but he has been invaluable this season. This is a major blow, no matter how you slice it.This dude was invisible and the weakest link on our team every year he's been here except for a couple games this year. I feel bad for the guy, he's an awesome dude as a person, but we'll be okay.
Eifert would likely get injured signing his contract.Eifert played with Green in Cinci, so maybe we can get some valuable insight there regarding if he thinks he fits the scheme...
