Or, maybe the Cards had no intentions of trading Q. Just by saying they would be foolish not to listen to offers the whole thing became a media storm. This turns into that, that turns into this, and it's all speculation generated by the media for their own benefit.

But Q can still be a distraction next year. Just by his attitude. We're better off shipping him out of conference IMO.

Get and keep players that want to win HERE (with a SB contendiner, I might add). And can honor their deals without dissent. Or just don't sign the deal in the first place. Did he have that option?!

If Q is indeed traded, how much of a physcological effect does the move have on the team? With Dansby all but unwilling to sign an extension could the clubs refusal to pay 2 "core guys" have a devastating effect in the next few seasons?

Keim's comment about a "flat" group of first rounders after a fairly small group of elites may have some merit strategically.

But if the Cards are using this as justifying settling for less for Boldin, I think it's nothing more than a cop-out for bad negotiating.

Give me the choice between having, say, a #21 pick and a #51 and I'll take the #21 every time.

What negotiating? Boldin said on the Dallas sports show that they Cards' brass hadn't been in touch with Rosenhaus. They had no intention of doing a deal before the draft, or maybe not even possibly this year still.

Bingo. Only the Cards front office would pull a stupid stunt like this.

Good point, Jeff. But...if the same guy they like that they would have considered in the 20s is still there in the 2nd round, they could get him for less.

Also, the rumor is a 2nd "and considerations"...much depends on what those considerations are, don't you think?

The Arizona Cardinals are said to be gathering information on Tennessee Titans RBs LenDale White and Chris Henry, a source told Scout.com.

It's not a secret that the Titans have interest in WR Anquan Boldin so Arizona's potential interest in either back could signal that trade discussions could intensify over the next 24 hours.

White, who led the NFL in rushing touchdowns last season, is on the final year of his contract. Henry, who was selected in the second round of the 2007 season and created a lot of pre-draft buzz two years ago because of his speed and size, only played in one game last season and only in eight over his first two seasons.

If it does have an effect then team isnt as strong as we think it is and the leadership at the top in Wiz and Grimm isnt as strong as we think it is.

Also we are only unwilling to pay 1 guy not 2. Dansby was given a more then fair offer in the same range as the big contract Bart Scott got, we are willing to pay him, everyone including the usually bashing Radio DJ Jurecki is wondering why Dansby didnt except such a good deal. It is Boldin we seem unwilling to pay at this point in time, and that can change if he isnt trade and the FO isnt lieing to us about still wanting to get a deal done with him.

you know, this feels a little like getting all upset over a loss in the pre season.

Reality will come soon enough ---

This thread is completely opposite of what is being reported on azcentral right now. You people need to chill out.

Were not going only by this comment by Graves, but by Anquan's steady comments about the situation NEEDING to be resolved. He'll be a distraction it isn't. And he's not considering giving the Cardinals a discount. He means to get a Fitz deal.

Can this team afford that , at one position? Many will say not.

An expected response to these rumors from Graves & Co. However, where there's smoke there's fire. Per Somers -

"Cardinals officials are denying an ESPN report that they have dropped their trade demands for Anquan Boldin to a second-round pick and "other considerations."
ESPN has previously reported the Cardinals were asking for first and third round picks. GM Rod Graves denied the Cardinals had placed an asking price for Boldin. "None of that is true," Graves said. "We've never said what we were looking for. All we've said is that we're willing to listen and certainly would consider something of commensurate value."

The more I think about it the more I think you could very well be correct if the Cards dont start honest negotiatons before training camp starts.

Like someone else already stated....LOOK AT THE SOURCE

There has been so much subterfuge the past couple weeks what with Raven saying "they (cards) want too much" and the Giants saying the same thing.

It's because they REALLY want Q. And they are trying to drive down the price. Just like the Eagles are doing now with their sock puppet Sal Pal. You think thats a conicidence what with them just giving up a 1st round pick last week? Otherwise they would just be quiet - if the Cardinals really had lowered their demands to one team during convo what would be the point of informing EVERYONE else they are bidding against? Was there like a mass email sent out or something?LOL

Geez talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill.

This time of year follow the X-files mantra.....Question everything.

Graves and Wiz must be sitting their saying WTF and laughing. Nothing has changed IMHO.

D Urban just filed this update 17 minutes ago:

Following up on today's earlier news, GM Rod Graves said the lone trade offer for Anquan Boldin "didn't come close to something we'd consider" and Graves thinks Boldin is going to remain in Arizona. Things can always change on draft day, of course, but talking to Graves, it certainly didn't sound as if that change would come from the Cardinals' side. Either some team comes with a better offer -- and that potential contract Boldin wants is a big reason teams are hesitant right now, it looks like -- or Boldin will stay.

Something smells rotten in Denmark

What? :) Explain the saying about Denmark, please. ;)
