sadly -- the comparable was set by Jerry Jones, who overpaid in order to distract attention from a bad loss to the Cardinals and a QB who was hurt.

The Cardinals on the other hand are dealing with four front offices who are as cold blooded and rational as they come: Giants, Eagles, Ravens and Titans. They wont get emotional and overpay.

We need Dan Snyder to get involved!!

What do u guys think about this?

The core players are already being well compensated for their play and leadership. Whining about "I'm worth this mcuh" when you havn't honored the last deal yet reeks of self servitude and not a core team player.

Whether the players get that is questionable to some degree. I'd say players like Hayes, Wells, Breaston and Watson consider themselves integral parts of the team. Not all-pro's, but they don't get paid as much as Boldin now. So if Boldin insists he NEEDS a new deal, why not everyone?

One last thing, if Boldin insists he's worth "such and such" , if he doesn't live up to the high dollars, is he willing to return the bonus money, say to his deserving team mates or even deserving season ticket holders ;), if he doesn't produce top five WR #'s?

It's the Eastern media who are setting those teams up as the viable trade partners. And sone of them don't even have viable cap space for a Boldin contract rework. We'd have just as good a shot at resigning him as any of them , cept for philly and I don't see us giving him away to them.

The main intent of the williams trade was to replace owens all along. Not only for the other reasons that went along with it. Jones actually would have preferred boldin, but the cards wern't listening to trade offers last offseason.

you may be the only one buying Jerry's revisionist spin. The ink was barely dry on the extension (with signing bonus) that Jerry gave TO when he made that deal for Roy Williams.

long term replacement......regardless of spin or not. whether at that point jones was cutting owens or not this year. The williams trade was designed to replace owens long term due to his instability and age. Then also combined to getting both on the field together last year. Not so much as only to detract from a loss....that was just timing as the trade deadline was there. Jones tried hard to trade for both williams and boldin before the draft last year, but neither team would listen.

Get ready for a lot of that. They've made little headway in re-signing their big name guys, such as AW, Dansby and Boldin. Warner's deal took weeks too long to finish up. The only re-signings other than Warner have been the vet. min. guys like Berry and Haggans. Graves is a ******** idiot and I hope they don't extend his contract for this season.

A 2nd round pick for a top 5 wideout?!? This ****ing team has lost its marbles.

We may have a Super bowl caliber team and coaching staff on the field right now, but we have a third-tier front office running the show.

Stop the hysterics. Why not wait and see what happens before having a fit.:mulli:

I agree....unless a team is absolutely desperate they aren't going to give up a draft day to get boldin on top of giving him a huge contract(which boldin clearly wants). Usually in this situation teams are willing to trade under bargain circumstances only....again unless they are desperate. Boldin will be a FA soon anyway no?

At the least if it is true this will get teams involved in talks which favors the cards if they do want to trade Q.

If Q is indeed traded, how much of a physcological effect does the move have on the team? With Dansby all but unwilling to sign an extension could the clubs refusal to pay 2 "core guys" have a devastating effect in the next few seasons?

Nobody made Boldin sign his contract. He isn`t working for peanuts. He`s getting almost 4 million bucks all together for 2009 so that isn`t chump change.
Dansby pretty much stated he will go FA in a possible uncapped year .He isn`t worth the 10 million a year he probably wants.

Adrian Wilson is in the same boat in my opinion.Make them reasonable responsible offers and prepare for them going elsewhere.Look ahead and plan ahead.

Some of you have criticized Boldin for wanting to renegotiate his contract, but had no problem wanting restructure Fitz's when he had us bent over the barrel with his escalators and bonuses a couple years ago.

They JUST said on ESPN that they had received reports earlier but the Cardinals just came out and said no, they had not received any kind of offer from Tennesse.

They said it like 30 seconds ago.

SalPal is full of crap like always.

Between Sal Pal, Peter King, and the NFL Live crew, heaven and earth is being moved to get Q to Philly. The Eagles are the real cheap skates. They let Brian Dawkins leave town and now have boo-coo salary cap space.

peter king just said earlier he believes the Q trade is mostly hype and he will remain a cardinal. these guys get paid to make something out of nothing....but whiz coming out and talking gave these guys all the ammo they needed. I'm glad the cowboys are on the low down for once.

a 2nd round pick and Ronnie Brown. Would that really be "lowering" their demands? I still think this trade makes too much sense for both teams. Parcells has said they'd be willing to trade Brown and the Cards came out about trading Boldin, coincidence? The trade would probably have to be something like Brown and the #44 pick for Boldin and the Cards 4th or 5th rounder.

However, as like with most trade,i'm usually disappointed when a trade occurs because i was expecting so much more and it turns out everything was more media speculation than reality.

Vegas, baby, yeah!
From NFL.com (link embedded):

Cards GM downplays Boldin trade rumors, says only one offer made

PHOENIX -- Arizona Cardinals general manager Rod Graves denied a flurry of trade rumors regarding wide receiver Anquan Boldin on the eve of Saturday's NFL draft.

"I'll just say the reports today are erroneous," Graves told The Associated Press late Friday. "We have not received any offers today with respect of Anquan."

Graves said the team received an offer on Thursday, "and it's nothing we were thinking about seriously." He declined to identify the team that made the offer.

The disgruntled Boldin wants a new contract, and at the start of last year's training camp, he accused the team of reneging on a promise for a new deal. At that time, he said he would never re-sign with the Cardinals, although his position seems to have softened since he helped the team reach the Super Bowl.

"Our position is still the same," Graves said. "That is we expect at some point we're going to sit down with him and talk with him about an extension."

Potential trades linking Boldin with numerous teams have been rumored since the Cardinals announced earlier this month that they would listen to offers for the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver.

Graves denied a report that the Cardinals had lowered their demands in a trade for Boldin.

"We've never stated any demands," Graves said, "so I'm not sure how you can lower it from there."

Asked if it was more likely than not that Boldin would be in Arizona next season, Graves said, "We'll see how things go tomorrow, but that's my expectation."

NEWSFLASH. Q has 2 years left on his contract and is staying here. Done!
Just wondering but why "Done?"

To clarify - Who says the only three alternatives Boldin and the Cards have are (1) trade him, (2) sign a long term extension or (3) make him play out the final 2 years at the same salary?

There's a 4th option - The Cards and Boldin could agree on an interim deal that would pay Q fairer compensation than he'd otherwise get but not so high that it breaks the bank or derails ongoing deals with A-Dub, KD or Dockett.

This would (a) buy more time to get a longer deal done, (b) make Q feel happier during the remaining 2 years on his contract and (c) be the fair and right thing for the Cardinals to do (i.e. if Q is considered one of our 6 most valuable players, earning #20 - 30 pay just isn't right).

So compromise even though we don't have to.
