As far as I am concerned, Welker is a one trick pony in a system that was made to help him out. There is no doubt Welker excelled in his role, but I can guarantee that if all 32 teams had to choose between Boldin and Welker, the choice would be Boldin.

Welker to the Pats = Stokely to the Colts... What has stokely done before or after the Colts?

LC:

Wes Welker led the Dolphins in receptions in 2006 (and in return yardage for three consecutive seasons). That's "before." And the Patriots went out and got Welker after playing against him twice a year over that period. As far as "after," I"m guessing we'll need to wait a while, because there's zero chance the Pats are letting him go anytime soon.

Led the league in receptions, set a record in the Super Bowl. Whatta stiff.

LOL @ "Welker is a one-trick pony."

...Unless you're saying his "one trick" is versatility. Then I won't laugh. (In addiion to playing WR, Welker returned kicks and punts, kicked off and had a couple of extra points and maybe even a FG when the kicker was injured. He's nothing if not versitile).

Look, Welker is no Boldin, but he's THE premier slot receiver in the NFL (which, in this case, means #2 or #3). Boldin isn't--Boldin is a top #1 WR in the NFL, even if you put him in the slot (which in this case means a distance from the ball along the LOS).

Absolutely agree.

I LOVE Wes Welker and what he brings to the table and he is definitely versatile.

I wouldnt trade Boldin for him though :)

Not sure if someone has already put a thread up on this, but I will anyhow.

In Sports Illustrated's Sept. 3 issue, Peter King names his 500 best NFL players. This is one of the most disgusting, pathetic, wastes of paper I have ever seen. Here is where he had the Cards:

#27 Adrian Wilson
I was OK with this one until I saw that Reggie Bush was #19, he is a spot ahead of Polamalu
#58 Fitz
Come monday night, King will feel dumb when Fitz eats up Nate Clements who was 11 spots higher
#99 Matt Leinart
58 spots behind Vince Young? 8 spots behind Cutler? 2 spots ahead of Kyle Vanden Bosch? Put down the pipe Peter.
#135 Quan
Does this guy even watch football. How do you take a guy who has the greatest start to a career in the history of WRs and rank him 41 places behind Hines Ward? Wait it gets better, he is 9 spots behind Wes Welker.

---------i dont have it in me to comment on anymore of this crap--------

#216 Karlos Dansby
#225 Edgerrin James
#262 Kurt Warner
#285 Duece
#335 Darnell Dockett
#362 Levi Brown
#379 Antrel Rolle
#414 Bert Berry
#432 Rackers
#486 Chike Okeafor

I would think that Matt should not be rated anywhere. He has not played enough to have any idea what kind of player he will turn out to be

This was done prior to the season, when he had as much experience as Cutler or Young.

Welker was a stud this year. Perfectly fitting into the system in place.

Boldin however is just downright better in almost all aspects of the game. I even think he could return punts better than Welker.

Of course, we should already know this right? I mean.... It would be completely insane to think otherwise right?

Wild Card, I'll definitely tip my hat to you for this season. Welker had a stellar season, and is proving to be a solid player. He had a much better season than Boldin, and that cannot be denied. He still isn't as good as Boldin is. He is quicker--and that is all. Boldin is the better overall player, and Welker plays on a better team with a better setup for success.

If the current public opinion downgrades Cardinals players and reduces their market value making them easier to retain I am all for that. What reason would King have to have it out for the Cards? Sometimes there is just a difference of opinion with no malicious intent.

First of all my "one trick pony" comment is referencing his great season. I surely do not believe he will ever come close to it again...

Yes, he is versitile but I will stand by my comments below from earier this year. Note his "before" stats:

:biglaugh: Hmm, Boldin #1 option and being covered by other teams best Defensive back personnel, or Welker #3 option being covered by much lesser talent. Too freaking funny.

You've lost all inkling of credibilty.

Lets examine career stats:

Boldin 4 years in the league: 342 receptions, 4627 yards, 21 TD's
Wes 4 years in the league: 102 receptions, 1185 yards, 2 TD's

your post is best summed up with this little tidbit from Billy Madison:

"...what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
