I don't know what you mean by that but Mitch made a mention of how exposed our QB's are to hits. Whiz is not Mike Martz but it's a valid point, we do some bizarre things like ask a TE to block their DE (not chip block) and give up a sack. Not block the DE multiple times(I think that's Keith not the design).
One of the things we've done really well under Whiz is use the 2 TE sets, with Warner retired I assumed that would become MUCH more common. It's not. NFL.com doesn't seem to have it in the splits for either DA or Max yet but it sure seems to me we're playing less 2 TE? Patrick was barely in the game.
When you consider how often Seattle had 5 or more DB's in there they weren't just doing it because Carroll likes it, they were doing it to matchup with all the 3 and 4 WR sets we ran. It was obvious early on Hall was confused and playing poorly, why would you continue to put him in that situation? if the gameplan was 3 and 4 WR sets, you should have gone to DA earlier when it was obvious Max couldn't pull it off.
Frustrating. I realize when Hightower fumbled that Whiz got nervous about that again too, but we ran the ball against them well all game, in large part because they were in pass defense so much.
In part it's because of all the "Whis is an engineer nonsense that's been on the board the past couple weeks. Mostly it's because I have no idea why we're still passing the ball so much.
1st drive - 3 passes, 2 runs. The runs are the only plays that gain yardage. Result: INT
2nd drive - 2 passes, 1 run. 3 and out.
3rd drive - 2 runs, 1 pass. 3 and out.
4th drive - 2 passes, 1 run.
I'm guessing that Whis is in some ways so used to working with Warner that he thinks that all QBs need to get into a rhythm with a lot of early passes to get the game off to a good start.
Of course the quarterback is going to want the offense in his hands early and say that we should throw the ball. Four of those early 8 passes were intended for Fitz, as well. I'm sure that Whis has made commitments to Fitz about his involvement in the offense.
I just think that Coach is over-thinking things. I don't know how he looks at his offensive line, and his quarterback, and his WR corps, and says, "You know what? Let's pass the ball 65% of the time."
