1. Boldin doesn't represent the team/organization as a whole in a contract negotiation, he represents only himself. If he does something bad it really only reflects on him as an individual where as Graves' bumbling and stumbling reflects on the Cardinals as an organization and quite frankly makes them look amatuerish, which just basically reiterates the status quo I guess.

2. [/b]If you feel you were treated poorly to begin with, why would you extend yourself to anything above and beyond the way you were orginally treated in the 1st place? To prove you are the better man?[/b] Screw that. If I go to shake someone's hand and they spit in my face first then offer to shake, best believe I am going to spit back.

Absolutely. You can't complain about someone treating you one way, and then treating them the same right back. Two wrongs don't make a right. Even if the wrong is the Cards front office.

You know, Russ, everyone screams at Graves when he doesn't sign the first rounder on time...and yet, to sign Fitz, the #3 pick in his draft, Graves tried to be creative...and yes, it wound up being somewhat of a problem...although the situation was ameliorated when Graves was able to get Fitz to sign the new deal.

It's damned if you do sometimes...and damned if you don't.

AS I said everyone made mistakes including Graves. most teams that sign those sort of deals redo it before it ever gets that far, we didn't and it wound up hurting us. But honestly I'm convinced even if we had redone that we would still have problems because it's apparent to me the players on this team don't really care that we won 8 games and appear ready to turn the corner. There seems to be a signifcant group of players who have just decided to make a cash grab.

I don't think Graves had any way to avoid that no matter how he handled Fitz I think we were going to have money problems.

Looking at track records Boldin has Graves and the front office beat by a mile...
Not when it comes to telling the truth. Maybe Graves is a bumbling, stumbling fool. One thing that he isn't is dishonest. Even his biggest detractors on this board will admit to that.

Bingo and furthermore their track record with Anquan. I got blasted here years ago when I suggested that we should redo Boldin's rookie deal and reward him to avoid the situation Denver got into with Clinton Portis. That's precisely what we did, Denver had to trade Portis, we got to keep Anquan.

We have treated him fairly, he's mad now because he wants Fitz money and it's his fault he chose to wait. He can deny it all he wants but the only reason to NOT negotiate his new deal first was that he and DR wanted to let Fitz establish the market first. The Cards told them do it now or it may be awhile, they called the Cards bluff and now they're whining they don't have a new deal.

My Anquan jersey is still hanging in my closet but in this situation I have no sympathy for him.

I never said Graves wasn't telling the truth or being dishonest. I was implying that based on Graves' and the front office's (don't want to leave them out of this) track record of incompetence and Q's track record of always having been a stand up guy that always did right by the team prior to this whole mess I believe what Boldin is saying.

I don't know what was said privately so I have no reason to doubt or support the validity of his comments, but in my opinion, Q is hurting himself here. I don't think there's anything he's going to accomplish by going public that can't be accomplished privately. This is the opposite of what made him a fan favorite. And to say it on Dallas radio no less? Be smarter, Q.

I've always admired Q, still do, but how exactly has he been a stand up guy that always did right by the team? By saying that it's about football and not money? By saying that he was just going to play football and let his agent deal with the negotiations, then going on DALLAS radio and talk about his beef? By taking his first new contract, for more money, that the Cards went to him with?

Running people over on the field doesn't make him a stand up guy.

Dude read my posts. I said PRIOR to this whole contract mess. He always did right by the team until he felt that they did not do right by him and I don't blame him one bit for feeling that way after hearing the way his contract has handled, or more appropriately put mishandled.

In all of the years since he has been drafted Q has been a stand up guy, I don't know how anyone would even try to debate that. He always showed up with a good attitude, gave 100% effort on some god awful teams, was a leader in the locker room and on the field and most importantly he has been and is a great guy off the field. You have never heard about him having any run ins with the law or anything even remotely close to that. Other than maybe Warner he is probably the most active player in the community, he has also a been a true family man and good role model. Again to put it simply Anquan Boldin is a stand up individual.

I guess our disagreement lies in that you see things in black and white. I see shades of gray. I don't either side as completely right or completely wrong.

I don't see anything in black and white. I don't see either side as being completely right or wrong either. For the record I never said anything like that. I do think the team mishandled his contract situation and based on what Boldin has said I completely undestand why he would feel the way he does. The history of the two sides has me strongly leaning towards Boldin's viewpoint but it's not like I can't at all see where the Cards are coming from.

I honestly believe the Cards have no intention of keeping Boldin unless they can do so at a price tag that is well below market value and that is fine. That's their call however history tells us that the Cardinals have a tendency to not make the smartest football decisions and the results on the field are all you need to look at for proof of that. Maybe that will all change and hopefully it does, BUT it's really hard to see happening when you go down this road with your best and most accomplished player (most accomplished other than the old man of course), team captain and all around good guy in Q. If I'm a player I am saying to myself, damn, if this is how they are handling Q what the hell are the going to do to me? I think this could be the beginning of some pretty ugly times with this current team, times that were supossedly a thing of the past. We'll see what happens though. <sigh> Go Cardinals

I do happen to believe pretty much everything Q is saying regarding the handling of his contract and sad to say I'm not the least bit surprised about any of it.
That's pretty black & white.

Saying I believe what Boldin is saying and that it doesn't surprise me is seeing things in black & white?? Uhh, okaaay...

I explained my stance as clearly as I can in my previous post so...

Seriously it's like Gee said it's as if the entire team had a meeting and said let's all demand more money.

And that's what will happen if ownership gives into him. Get him the f@#*k outta here. Think of how how great our team will look without: Dansby, AW, Edge, A. Smith. Stand your ground ownership and trade this guy after the season.
