There's a huge difference between moaning about real issues and moaning about literally everything.

We're aren't doing doing enough. Oh we did something now? But not that, why that? This player we signed sucks. He's too old/young. He was garbage on that garbage team. The player he replaced sucked too but so does this guy. Did I mention Keim sucks in this thread yet? Why did we extend him and Kliff? I know we had 11 wins but so what after losing in the playoffs to the eventual superbowl winners? All our young players suck. They haven't shown anything to say they can replace the vets. But also we should get younger, we're too old.

Its incessant. Its negativity for the sake of negativity.
Lol

I kind of quit paying attention to Brit when he tried to "teach" me that Bill Davis was a worthy coach and should be on the Cards staff. Just look at his coaching career and how it's spiraled down the toilet from DC of the Cards all the way to a position coach in college. And he doesn't have that job if he wasn't Urban Meyer's best man at his wedding.

I'll take things that never happened for $1000.

I challenge you to find a single positive thing I've ever said about Davies.

Was it here I told you Davis was worthy?

Billy Davis is the worst coach we have.

He's never developed a rookie and he turned Hicks into an average LB last year.

Is he the source of Simmons issues? No. But he's not helping. Which is his job.

He may not match his numbers but he's going to make Carr a better QB and make the other WR's better by being on the field. He's drawing all the focus(and will still put up big numbers) allowing the #2 and 3 guys better matchups. His affect will be much like Hopkins with the Cards.
The great thing is we got Hopkins for a 2nd and David Johnson, not a 1 and 2 plus like the Raiders did, lol.
Adams is approaching 30.

Few WRs are even productive past thirty. That contract is massive...and the situation is classic Raiders. Overpay a player who is very likely to not approach his level of production of the past few years.

We're also talking Carr vs Rodgers. Carr is a nice player, but Rodger is probably one of the three best QBs in NFL history.

It's one of those trades that will probably not work out as well for all parties. Raiders will be stuck with a massive contract that they can't move and the Packers are crazy bad at WR right now.

This is another reason I'm not stressing about what we are or are not doing right now. Other than the Rams, who were already ahead of us, I don't see anyone in the NFC getting better. Heck I'm not even sure the Rams got better. I prefer Woods to Robinson and Wagner is on the down slope and they lost a bunch of starters.

Packers have got worse. Bucs got worse just by losing BA. I like Todd Bowles but thats a downgrade. Niners haven't done anything in FA outside of Ward and lost a bunch of starters. Seattle have thrown in the towel. The Cowboys lost a bunch of guys and their biggest and really only signing is Dante Fowler.

The arms race has been in the AFC. All the big moves coming from the Broncos, Raider, Phins, Bills, Chargers, Bengals, Browns etc

I won't panic until I see the team after the draft.

Blow it out your ear hole. You conveniently forget how absolutely bouncing with joy all us darksiders were on our hot streak to begin last season. Man, you have a line of propaganda and you're sticking to it, regardless of reality.
He isn't entirely wrong.
Even at 7-0 we had people bitching last season....mostly about VJ and the defense.
It continued to 10-2....

Bitching about the Redbirds is low hanging fruit... might be wrong today, but just keep at it....sooner or later you'll be right...then get to look back and say, " see? I was justified "

It would be better yet if the critics had been wrong.

I was liking it when the Cardinals were winning.

Proposal: A helpful exercise.

When the Cards make/don’t make a move, ask yourself what was the largest potential benefit of making such a move, (b) whether they succeeded in their effort and (c) what else they could have done to achieve a better result.

I don’t think SK and MB are all bad - just ordinary humans. This doesn’t mean they did well enough to escape criticism, simply not good enough to keep up with other NFL front offices who have gotten smarter faster.

Hidden in the background of all this is the assumption that we each are better GMs/owners than SK or MB. We fans don’t own the team, so the best we can do is be hopeful onlookers who want the team to do better. To think we can do more is a giant wheel spin.

That said — The high level of football knowledge on this board never ceases to amaze me. But I suspect we give ourselves too much credit.

Nope. Not at all what I said. But maybe not moan about literally everything? That would be a good start. Because there is as much to be positive about as negative and when people are constantly negative I know it's just because they want to be.

And not just you, there are 5 or 6 that turn every thread into a hell pit of misery and doom.

Do what you like, it's a free world. I'm just going to start putting constant Darksiders on ignore so it's not depressing every time I come on here.
Brit Brit Brit…. Give us something to crow about.
Signing Ertz, mild applause.
Signing Conner, mild applause.
Long snapper , punter, 2nd string linebacker, yawn.
All those were lateral moves. What are we supposed to do hire a sky writer to thank Keim for being less than adequate?

I’m not going to throw accolades based on the season hasn’t started yet.
I’m not going to be happy that teams around us are make moves in an attempt to improve.

Simple as that. You want cling to hope and dreams of what might happen go right ahead. Have fun.

But at this point to question other “ non- believers “ is simply not reasonable.

All he is actually saying is put a little water in your wine and wait until FA, the draft, etc. plays itself out before reaching definite conclusions.

I look forward to you joining team panic after the draft.

Does this count as a positive comment so that I don't get put on Brit's ignore list? ;)
We've seen this song and dance literally almost every season from the same cast of actors.

And while many of the years didn't turn out ok, this is a team that was pretty banged up down the stretch after starting 10-2.

Add a veteran receiver, veteran pass rusher, maybe a 1st round receiver and 2nd round pass rusher (or flip it) and this team could be close to last year's team.

None of those moves materialize? The team is probably taking a step back. But either way, this is chicken little right now.

So four things have to happen - and pan out - to match last year, otherwise we take a step back. And people who are concerned are “chicken little?” Lol, okay, you’re missing a little self-awareness with your name-calling krang.

Not just that, but 4 pretty huge things need to happen, that prior history shows are pretty unlikely, especially Keim finding anyone to contribute in the first and second round in their rookie seasons.

Also, the chicken little stuff just comes from people with zero memory who set up straw men to fight because for some reason. Why do I say that? Because the board was pretty effusive in their praise of Keim in the off-season before 2020. People we’re over the moon for Hopkins, Simmons and optimistic about Phillips. There was one pretty vociferous voice who didn’t buy Kliff or Kyler at all, but most everyone else was pretty jacked for the season after some progress in year 1 from Kliff and Kyler. And halfway through the season, when we were 6-3, the board was almost unanimously stoked with our progress.

And then the wheels fell off and… surprise, surprise… people were critical after the second half collapse. Especially when they noticed a disturbing trend throughout every year of our coach’s career.

FWIW, the key acquisitions last year were free agents in Watt and Green, and to a lesser extent Conner.

Maxx Williams—from whom many are expecting big things—was a free agent acquisition.

Three of our top 5 defensive linemen by snaps in 2021 were free agents—and two of them are no longer under contract.

4/5ths of our projected offensive line began their careers outside this organization.

So when the Cards essentially sit out free agency, it’s reasonable to wonder how the team is actually gonna get better.

You can’t have long-term success letting the players you successfully draft and develop like Reddick, Kirk, and Edmonds leave for compensatory picks made by a guy who can’t draft. You have to get those guys on second contracts they’ll outperform.

Budda Baker is still the fifth-highest paid safety and is unlikely to outperform his second contract.

How many of those were big ticket acquisitions? Pugh?

Nobody is saying they shouldn't do business in FA. Only that the best way to use FA is to wait it out and pick up value later on. Not blow all the money on the expensive "premium" guys who very rarely work out.

Guys like Maxx Williams, Beachum, Murray, Peters, Conner etc were not big ticket FA signings.

Beachum was signed in July. Williams signed in May. Conner signed April 8th last year.

Many these guys that have been good value FA pickups for us signed later in the year than we are at right now.
