How many of those were big ticket acquisitions? Pugh?

Nobody is saying they shouldn't do business in FA. Only that the best way to use FA is to wait it out and pick up value later on. Not blow all the money on the expensive "premium" guys who very rarely work out.

Guys like Maxx Williams, Beachum, Murray, Peters, Conner etc were not big ticket FA signings.

Beachum was signed in July. Williams signed in May. Conner signed April 8th last year.

Many these guys that have been good value FA pickups for us signed later in the year than we are at right now.
Yep. Beachum is one of the Cardinals best FA signings since FA began.

Peters has been an affordable, good player for a long time now.

Keim sucks at drafting, but he has routinely found players like this even during the Arians years. I'm not a Keim backer by any means, but his critics fail to demonstrate why he has a winning record overall with how terrible he is.

The reason he has a winning record is that for all his failings in the draft, Keim has been outstanding identifying value veterans.

lol no. Emmitt Smith was cooked. Watt was having a great year before he exploded his shoulder then worked his ass off to get back for the playoffs.

That injury was freak and could have happened to anyone.
Can’t wait to see what “freak injury” happens this season to the aging guy who’s body has regular freak injuries” the last five years.

Hard to argue with this.

I am just not sure people quite understand that we will be lucky to get WR in this draft. I guarantee we do a best player available get some bullcrap LB or Cb instead of WR. Then 2nd round do same thing. We essentially need 2 WRs. A real 2nd and a real 3rd. We have Dhop and a bunch of #4s. No good. Kyler going to still struggle when dhop is tripled all game. If only we made a 5th round pick for Devanta Parker, Or sign James Washington(speed), Lazard for Height and speed. (More examples then these guys but to many we missed out on). Those guys would have cost us virtually nothing.

Unfortunately Hopkins leaves after this year if Kyler sucks and team sucks. Then where we going to be at?? No WRs on roster. It will be worse than Atlanta lol

I mean, in the 3 seasons before we signed him he played a full season twice, but sure.

1 Sack. 15.8% missed tackle percentage. 16 tackles.

23% pass rush win rate (3rd in all defensive interior). 79 PFF grade. 16 pressures, 8 QB Hits and 7 hurries in 7 games.

15.8% was 3 missed tackles by the way. 3.

And your name includes "realist".

Parker cost a 3rd so not sure how we get him for a 5th. James Washington runs 4.54 and Lazard runs 4.55. Hardly speed.

Rondale Moore is going to have a good season. All we need is a WR2. Which to be honest I'd rather get through trade or FA than the draft just because this draft class is a crap shoot at WR. I don't feel "sure thing" about any of them.

Yes here we go keep yapping that trap. Okay fella tell what Rondale has accomplished??? Besides butterfinger hands?? i will wait on this answer since i already know the answer :)
oh so james washington game speed over the years shows he is slow huh? interesting. Lazard just always seems to be in deep threat situations and has a track record of completed catches. Okay so both those guys are established players. I am not seeing the negative there?? Also we need size not just a bunch of crap Andy Isabellas. We missed out on countless players is my point. We could have gave up yes virtually nothing to get some? Is that not correct?

Now you are just Trolling. If you actually watched Watt play you would see how much of a difference he made when he constantly got double and triple teamed.

Butterfinger hands? He led the NFL in catch percentage. He had 1 drop all year. 1.

What exactly do you expect him to have achieved in his single year in the NFL behind 3 vets playing only 45% of snaps?

He was drafted to start this year. Not last year.

Game film doesnt lie when watching from birds eye view. How many muffed punt/kick offs? i remember watching at least 3. Unreliable no seperation at line, route running below average. If he was so great where were the actual difference making catches? Why would Kyler continuously throw to washed up AJ Green? He is yet another WR we drafted that has no size to get off the line

He had 2. One he called fair catch and it hit his toe. The other was hit by the referees flag. He didn't muff either of them and there were no "butterfingers" involved.

He was asked to play a particular role last year. AJ Green got more ball because he played 90%+ of snaps. Moore was asked to play more of a gadget role.

Oh and

Waaaaaaay to hard on him. I have no plans to run out and get a 4 jersey, but he deserves some leeway, and has played satisfactory relative to where he was drafted. I'm optimistic about his potential this year at the least.

So why as cardinals fans do we constantly give benefit of the doubt to guys who dont make impacts right away? Are we that used to losing that we just are so on the hopium to believe in development? I for once would like players to make impacts when we draft them. That has been a big lacking elephant in the room. Too many years do we just keep smoking that hopium and rarely recieve benefits. Also he may very well reach that #3 WR spot. But he is not a #2 in any way. come on everyone.

Exactly what you said. He was asked to play a certain role when we have trash like AJ Green being #2. Does not bode well for his future if they dont put him in more situations that are more demanding for bigger roles. Yes he is new. Still guys who have the IT factor play and play a lot

The context matters though. The Rams are in "win now" mode because they have a QB approaching retirement years, a defensive centerpiece that is likely to start to slow down in the next few seasons, and a coach who's longevity is questioned.

Like it or not (I don't), the Cardinals view the roster as one that can win with what they've got and can get out of cap hell after this season.
I agree that context matters. The problem is that there are two situations where teams should go "all-in". 1 - QB on a rookie contract. 2 - Acquiring a post 30, top 12 QB.

The Rams are in one of those situations and they are acting accordingly. The Cardinals are in the other but aren't. Therein lies the problem and frustration.

Like I've said elsewhere the difference is Stan Kroenke and Michael Bidwill.

The Rams are close to the cap? Push some money to future years and spend now.

The Cardinals? They don't have the cash reserve the Rams do. They are operating closer to the Packers level where they can only do a little bit of this maneuvering. I don't like it, but it is what it is.

Absolutely no way the Cards are getting that excuse. Bidwill doesn't have the cash lying around, no, but as has been noted, it is very easy for billionaires like him to GET his hands on the cash. This is just a lame excuse for ownership to not do their utmost to try. This excuse in no way, shape, or form will fly. If you're so poor as an owner that you can't play cap games to load a roster for a run, you're not rich enough to be an owner. Bidwill is, and there's no excuse here.

Michael isn't a billionaire. He partially owns a multi-billionaire dollar asset, but he himself, isn't a billionaire.
This is just a lame excuse for ownership to not do their utmost to try.
What's lame is when people can't see that he can't do this. And he shouldn't be an NFL owner and we as fans, follow a team that isn't going to be able to do the things that rich teams can.

LOL that's so not true. The Bidwill family owns what? The Cardinals? What else?
