I can't give The Chronic a top 5 spot, maybe based on impact but I don't find it solid enough all the way through and I find 2001 a better CD.

Im dumbfounded by this statement.. 2001 is solid but no where near Chronic status.. wow..

Both are good, both have wasted tracks. Chronic's Nuthin but a "G" thang had the best hit, so I will go with that one.

Oh Yes KLL, and it's Talib Kweli. But him and Mos are amazing. Easily that whole squad of so called Backpackers (I remember The Source had a piece on him, Pharoe Monch, Black Thought, Common, etc. as the saviors of hip-hop) has put out the best music in the last few years.

I must stop snorting pixie stix and injecting pez.... I know it's Talib Kweli.. haha...Cannot believe I reversed his name like that..... I'm definitely not dyslexic, but dont know what possessed me to make that error... At least I didnt type Def Mos or something.. haha....

Seriously, I think Mos and Talib are 2 of the most underrated hip-hop artists out there... Perhaps because they focus more on substance opposed to creating an image (ala what Eminem does)..... I think they deal with some of the most significant social/political issues in their songs and do it w/out having to resort to constant nonstop obscenity to convey their points... I really applaud them for that.... Common is awesome as well....although.. I havent listened to that much hiphop recently...except for some of Mos Def's new release....

I know that the following isnt hiphop, but definitely found it apt to bring him up in this thread.... How do you feel about Cody ChesnuTT? I think his solo work is amazing... another artist that deserves more exposure than he receives...

:bigyawn: KLL, this dude put me and my cousin to sleep when he opened for the Roots a few years back. He is mega talented, but that doesn't mean he gets a pass. He's gotta long way to go before I'd consider a purchase of him.

He's probably one of the worst performers to gague by just seeing him live... ChesnuTT is too low-fi to really establish a decent live act..... Perhaps he will hone his skills as he becomes more experienced.... He's a "late bloomer" in terms of the fact that he never recorded anything before "Headphone Masterpiece"..... To me that was one of the most raw albums ever, but he proves how masterful his voice is and his guitar-playing is more than just adequate.... This following clip provides a decent glimpse into him:

Have you checked-out Mos Def's newest release? If so, how would you rank it with his earlier cds?

I haven't heard all of his new joint. What I heard was NICE! I'm a lunchbox KLL. I haven't even heard all of "The New Danger". I unfortunately don't buy cd's like I used to. (broke!) But I will catch up though, now that I have an iPod. Don't know if you've ever heard of these cats called The Procussionists. They're on Rawkus and they're pretty dope.

Whats everyones thoughts on the new Clipse CD? I'll give it a 8.5/10. Second favorite release of the year behind "The Doctors Advocate"

Nate Dogg aint a rapper dude.. He's a singer.. But your right, he does do good guest work, his cd's suck too lol..

He was on the Chronic album, he gave Warren G all his hits. He's like the ultimate guest voice.

Nate Dogg is da "Hook Man..." You get him singing the hook, you got a hit... As a solo artist? Not so good...

Nate, Snoop and Warren in a group called 213 before the Chronic.. Warren is Dr Dre's lil brother.. Thats how they all made it to big time.. Nate sang and did hooks, Warren was the DJ, Snoop was the rapper..

After all is said and done they came back together and made an album, its good, not classic though..

Biggie (Favourite artist to rap to) **Kick In The Door 1st verse**
Nas (2nd favourite artist to rap to) **Get Down 1st verse**
Jada (Who cares about soundscan, guy is dope!)
Pharoahe Monch (When's he gonna drop again?)
T.I. (I was skeptical after Trap Musik, was a fan for life after Urban Legend)
Young Jeezy (In a sophomore slump, but first album is really good)
Masta Ace (Put him with 9th Wonder and they work miracles)
Kanye West (Charisma, ill punchlines, sick beats. Too commercial now though.

I can put on any CD by these guys and just drift away.
