And think what he could do with a point guard that regularly feeds him.

True. At least it's a lot easier to feed him with Booker back in the lineup. Long term it should help Booker to get good looks too once we fill the PG and PF holes.

Tom Chambers, "They were more athletic without Chandler out there tonight."

From what I saw of VanFleet tonight, a defensive PG who can hit the three, he would fit with Booker and Ayton well.

I never really concentrated on VanVleet's game before but he is solid. I'm thinking the Raptors would want to keep him. He is a perfect bench player for them.

Yeah, he's a very solid backup for them.

Again, Ayton’s stats look good by the end of the game. But he was nowhere to be found in the third quarter when the game was still in question. Not necessarily his fault either.

Wish I could’ve watched tonight. But more satisfying coaching my 7 year olds 8th seeded flag football team to an upset of the #1 seed in first round of playoffs.

Sounds like Ayton started doing what I’ve been hoping for. And looks like he beasted on the boards. Nice!

Also when it got up to 16 I’m glad to see they didn’t let it get outta hand.

Baby steps.

If Jackson can play like he did tonight he can still be the player the Suns expected.

He had 11 points on 5-8 shooting, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and only 1 turnover.

Best thing to happen this game? Ayton was the best player on the floor tonight. Bar none. Where are the Ayton haters tonight?
I don't think there are any here as far as I know. I was really encouraged by him on the defensive end tonight too. He's got all the tools to be great!

I don't think there are either. There might be one or two that would still have preferred Doncic but I think most are satisfied with Ayton's potential. I think he's sometimes being held to an unreasonably higher standard but regardless, he has holes in his game and he's still tearing things up most nights.

Good game. Interesting.

Coach good: changing starters. No chandler. Limited Crawford. Limited Anderson in first half. Took JJ off pg duties, let Canaan and Oko have at it. That defined three people’s roles right there.

Bad: second half lineups. We ran cold there for a bit with not offense. Too much Anderson. Not enough bridges. Bad use of timeouts.

Warren hosed by refs all night. Both Warren and JJ were bumped/hit as they went in, should have been an and1.

Is it me but does Vanfleet walk with the ball before he dribbles?

Better effort and lineups, seems like in the 3rd we got a little dumbfounded and slacked on defense and intensity once they commanded the lead.

Young guys, but hopefully we continue this trend in getting better.

The thing that really encouraged me tonight is that I've already seen strides by him to clean up the holes only 8 games in. He seems to be a very quick learner. At this rate, we could have a real monster on our hands.

His block on Valanciunas was one of the highlights. There was one play where he aggressively put the ball in the basket that I really liked as well.

If the Suns had played like this since opening night I think they would have grabbed at least 2 more wins. If all of the losses were competitive like this game though I don't think we would see some people bashing the team like we have recently, myself included. The whole team plays better with Booker, even if he's on the bench. I'm not sure if he helps motivate them as a leader should or if they just feel we have a shot at winning with him in the lineup but it's really night and day. We should try getting him to sit on the bench with the coaches if he misses a game due to injury, see if that helps everyone else stay focused.

Igor seemed to coach the first half really well but the rotations and substitutions in the second half were really questionable. We can't have Booker, Warren, and Ayton all on the bench together. If they are then Daniels, Ariza, Bridges, or Anderson better be on fire because no one else provides consistent scoring. If one of those guys is hot then we can get away with it for a couple of minutes but not that long. Thankfully we didn't ship TJ off for peanuts in an effort to clear up our SF logjam because he's the best forward on the team, not limited to just "Small Forwards" either. So glad he's got a 3pt shot now. If he can add maybe 5-10 pounds of muscle and puts the effort into becoming a better rebounder next offseason then he might be the answer at PF for us. He's improved every offseason and seeing his 3pt shot increase like it has gives me hope he can add another aspect to his game. Ayton is a beast inside so our PF doesn't need to be our leading rebounder but providing some help would be big and keep Ayton from some silly fouls he gets for being young and over anxious sometimes.

Even though we lost by 9 I didn't see much to complain about. Sure, losing sucks but they looked a whole lot better losing today than they have all season.

I thought it was curious Delon Wright didn't play much for Toronto, he was another PG they had who split time with VanVleet manning the backup PG spot with one of them playing off the ball a little more but he logged just 6 minutes. He's someone I would target if I were the Suns GM. He can't be happy sitting back while VanVleet got paid and has now taken a lot of his minutes also. For those who haven't seen a lot of Wright, he's similar to Harrison but he can actually shoot and pass. He's the same build, his shot is a little ugly but it works, and he's not a flashy passer but he's good at doing the basics. He averaged 8 pts, 3 assists, 36% from 3 in 20 mpg last season, with just 1.1 turnovers. He's 6'5 and 180 pounds, so he's a little skinny but really long.

Maybe Toronto will move him. They seem to be set at most positions but might need depth or some 2nd rounders. I would gladly trade Melton and a 2nd for Wright.

Ayton is so efficient that he really needs to get more shots. I like that he doesn't force things, but he's got to take more than 10 or 12 shots. Honestly, there is no reason anyone not named Booker should be taking more shots than Ayton.

Yes, and he has that fantastic shot from 15ft. We need to run the the numbers against Shaq and Duncan at this age.

Given the minutes he seems to produce and he is a RFA next summer so the Suns could keep him if they like. I'm not sure if he is better than Canaan and Okobo but the Suns would have three solid point guards for a reasonable price and still not mortgage their future.

Bridges was off tonight, but I really like that Canaan (for now)/ Booker/ Bridges/ Warren/ Ayton lineup.

Canaan needs to get the ball when he's open. If he gets shots in the flow of the offense he doesn't seem to look for his own shot as much. I don't think he does it that often anyways but he seems to know his limitations and play within himself so I can't fault him for being in a role he shouldn't be in.
