Ray Allen is a FA. How much would he go for. He would be PERFECT with Steve Nash shooting open corner 3s.

Nash
Allen
JRich
Dirk
Rolo

Dudley
Clark
Hill
Dragic

That team would kill from 3. Probably shoot close to 50% as a team and then Rolo and Clark would be opened up to wreck havoc down low.

Just a fantasy, but in all seriousness, how much money will he command this offseason. Don't see how BOS could possibly resign him.

Nash should be shooting 3s the way Ray Allen did this game. We just need to save his legs for the game 2 of an NBA finals. ;)

And it's unlikely Allen goes anywhere else. Only contenders may be willing to pay big bucks for his service for 1-2 years, but none of them have the cap room to sign him more than the MLE. I'd see he resignes with Celtics for 8mil a year, which I hope JRich would extend with Suns for.

I remember when Ray Allen was rumored to be going to the Celtics, I wanted the Suns to grab him. However, lots of people were saying his best days were behind him. There is zero shot we get Allen. Why would he come to the Suns when he can stay with the Celtics?

Does anybody know the Celtics cap situation and if they need to resign anybody else going into next season?

I imagine Nash closing out his career playing a lot of 2 next to Dragic.

I posted a hypothetical trade scenario to get Ray Allen when the Sonics were shopping him. I was practically laughed off the board.

In a van...down by the river.
Putting Nash & Allen out there at the 1 & 2 would be brutal defensively.
Having Rondo allows for that symmetry to work nicely.

I like Ray Allen's game alot but i dont think he'd be as effective here as he has been in Boston in terms of team success.
IMO

How in the world would we ever get Allen and Dirk?

It's not an impossible situation.

Dirk in a sign and trade for Amare and trade Barbosa and a first for a second round pick. Let Channing and Lou walk and then sign a couple guys to the league min.

Ray Allen would have to take a slight discount, which he would have to do anyway to play for a contender.

We already shot close to 50% from the field and killed it from the 3 this past season. :)

If we had Ray Allen, Dirk, Nash and JRich shooting 3s, every look would be wide cause the court would be spread for days. Rolo and Clark would look awesome down low cause they would get ISOs all day too and Nash would have room to roam with his dribble.

Dudley and Frye were impressive from 3, but they are no Dirk and Allen haha.

I still think it is preposterous. I mean that in the nicest way possible too.

We don't need Ray Allen on this team unless he can play interior defense.

And so goes shooters. Clean looks off open screens? Net. A bit more press off less open looks? Clang. An inch more space? 5-10.

Which is why, IMO, guys like Ray are never worth the money you pay them...because they can't create on their own.

Rondo? Max player. Even with a bad game...dude is greatness bottled up (and stuck on the nasty Celtics). Allen? Amazing shooter...but needs clean looks from comfort zones to shine.

Eh Allen was hitting contested jumpers last game. I think it's just a matter of not having it all the time. Some nights the ball just isn't going in, even for great shooters. I think you're right though, about shooters not getting the max, unless they can bring something else to the table. Shooting is too undependable.
