Eh Allen was hitting contested jumpers last game. I think it's just a matter of not having it all the time. Some nights the ball just isn't going in, even for great shooters. I think you're right though, about shooters not getting the max, unless they can bring something else to the table. Shooting is too undependable.

I completely disagree; he was not contested last game. He had amazing, clean looks. Shannon Brown left him WIDE open for 3 of those, Kobe left him for 1, others were caught in screens and he got clear looks. FFS, those were the most open shots you get in the NBA even if you AREN'T a Ray Allen kind of shooter. For Ray, being that open is like being alone in a gym.

Tonight, they were up in his uniform, very close and he got NO open looks other than the late game look from the corner three that he missed. At that point, he had no rhythm.

Exaggeration. Some were open, some weren't so open. It's not like he was on an island with no player within 10 feet for every shot. He got some looks early on and got into a rhythm.

gotta agree. He got some open looks tonight and he was just never close... and he's 34 years old.

Dude got that MAX contract when he was leading the freaking Bucks to the Conference Finals and an absolutely pathetic Sonics team a division title and gave the 2005 Spurs all they could handle in the 2nd round. Tonight being proof of ANYTHING regarding Ray... at age 34... just don't make much sense.

Standstill shooters don't average 4 assists like Ray did in his prime.

Which is why, IMO, guys like Ray are never worth the money you pay them...because they can't create on their own.

Do you remember Allen from the Sonics/Bucks because that man could create off of the dribble when he wanted to. Reminds me a lot of Jason Richardson in that regard. Ray Allen could definitely create his own shot.

Ray Allen has proven he CAN hit contested 3pt. That is what he is known for. Don't know what happened last night. 0-13... damn.

He hasn't been that guy in a while.

Are we watching the same Ray Allen? Throughout the playoffs I have seen him drive and create his own shot. Yes, he is known for the catch and shoot but I have seen him get his own shots driving to the bucket plenty.

Also, some of those shots had great defense on him when he was hitting them. Ray is one of those players that can make anything even when your in his face. He is a shooter. You are going to have some on nights and some off. He will be back.

He was that two years ago... or do you not remember him ABUSING Sasha to end the Lakers season for all intent and purposes in Game 5 of the Finals in 2008 while averaging 20 ppg on 50% shooting. Dude was money just two years ago... hell, LAST year against the Bulls, guy put on one of the greatest playoff performances in NBA history.

again, he's 34 years old. Using anything now as "proof" of anything negative about what the guy has "always been" holds very little water.
