What am I missing? We can only HOPE he's a Plug and Play guy, but we do KNOW he's a Project.

Yeah exactly...

Let's assume a smart guy with great measureables who is by all accounts real smart is a project, but the rest of us are just "hoping"

Darksiders are just like this because they have been conditioned to question everything this team EVER does if it's not 100% a perfect move.

It's obvious this offseason with little interest in signing a RB or TE that Kliff finally believes he has the pieces in place to run his Air Raid. Like it or not

We'll see. All this rose-colored glasses "he's just a plug-and-play starter" talk is nonsense. We can HOPE he's that guy, but there's no way of knowing. I would be THRILLED if that were the case, but...well, I won't re-hash my doubts.

Oh, can't we? That's a lovely copout that says you can't possibly be flawed in your assessment, but it doesn't hold up. If you simply wave injury concerns away with a "can't predict injuries" wand, we'd be thrilled to have Alford back at CB. I'm not; are you?

the term 'Project' suggests a season or more before a player can contribute in a specific role. I would imagine Collins will be slotted behind Hicks and initially play in a number of sub-packages. That's how future starters are introduced into the league as you well know.

When you have a moment, please give us the list of players who'll be missing time due to injury this season. Keim 'the idiot' would surely appreciate the help.

Alford had a pec injury last year, similar to Chandler Jones, are you predicting we can't count on either this season?

No such thing, so the never-ending litany of issues great and small can and will go on and on. For a Darksider, no molehill is too small. :)

did Chandler Jones’ body break down in a multitude of other areas his previous three years like Alford’s did when he missed all of last year, all of the season before that and was one of the worst CBs in football three years ago because he played on a busted ankle?

there’s no comparing the two players as far as availability. One had one injury that put him out of ten games last year but has been a BEAST for the three precious. The other hasn’t stepped on the field for the team in the two years he’s been on the roster and was atrocious three years ago for his own team.

so, with Chandler there’s reason to believe last year could be much more dependable at his position than a guy who literally hasn’t even put a Cardinals jersey on in the regular season in the years he’s been here.

Depending on a chronically injured player who sucked the last time he even did get on the field is a plan... but it’s planning to fail.

we’ve got the 2nd longest playoff drought in the league. Haven’t had a winning record in FIVE years. Have won ONE playoff game in TEN years. Maybe those molehills are a little bigger than you believe they are.

or you’re just happy with continual failure.

Yeah depending on Alford for anything at all at this point is wishful thinking, especially because we watched TWO season ending injuries.

yeah, just can’t do it at this point. He’s got to be looked at as “gravy” if we get some “mashed potato” in there to man the other corner spot in what’s left in FA.

I'm guessing that our RB depth chart (Conner, Edmonds, Ward and Benjamin) will not be the same when we start the season. So imo it doesn't make much sense complaining about it now. You'll have plenty of time to complain about it as we approach Week #1.
Replace Kenyan Drake with Conner and you have last years' RBs with Connor sitting in Drake's chair.

From what I've read, Connor is less twitchy but more of a bruiser compared to Drake.

Other than that, this year should be the same as last year at RB.

Drake didn’t look twitchy to me. He actually looked to me more like a plodder. Shocked me a little he had almost 1000 yards last year. Did not look like the same back from 2019…to me anyway.

One of the reasons I was upset to go with a project ILBer at the time.

I get your opinion on Conner. I disagree, but I get it. Problem is, even if he's decent, what do we do when he gets injured?
I don’t think it’s accurate to call Collins a “project.”

he didn’t seem to have the same burst to me either last year that he did when he was traded to us.

Lol. Right, darksiders are hoping for 100% perfection from the cardinals. Nice really terribly inaccurate hyperbole, krang. You’re better than that.

Connor has also proved to be less durable than drake. So that should be factored in as well.

In honor of the day, I'll keep my response in context: The smarminess is strong in this one.

It was like he was playing uninspired football. Like he was unhappy they didn't commit to him long term so he did want to chance injury or something.
