Does anyone know the scheduled/hopeful date that HB will be on the field and ready to play? And is that date realistic? Any help is appreciated.

Looking back over time , the knee ligs. seem to be alot like finger prints , no two are exactly alike as for as returning to play .

This, plus no one here know how bad the tears were. So my realistic date is at some point during the 2014 season.

Likely be on the PUP to start the season and be out for the first 6 weeks.

this is counterintuitive to success this season, but if it were me, I'd be perfectly happy if he didn't come back at all this season.

don't make the same mistake that we made with Ryan Williams. The kid suffered a devastating injury to multiple knee ligaments at the very end of the year last year. Let him heal and come back as close to full strength next year. It's short term pain for hopefully long-term gain, IMO.

i am with you

i do think however that he can play this year -- but its second half, and you limit his snaps (assuming the docs give the okay)

I also think we will watch him play and think "he just isn't as good" -- but that will be a function of that last X% of burst that wont come back until the 2015 season

^^^^THIS.

I went through a total ACL (plus some other stuff) about 4 years ago. I was 34, but always an exceptional athlete. It took me 11 months to run, jump, put it to use… Everyone is different. Sit the HB until things are good. Makes NO sense to bring him back too early only to have another set back…

Think Swann, Wadsworth, Terrell Davis, and a bunch of others.

and granted, some guys are able to come back sooner and work through the issue, but HB doesn't have the physical size and strength to be able to compensate for his lack of movement. Movement is what makes his game...

This X10. I realize sports are a business and HB is a big part of our success but I would rather have success in our future seasons over risking him for one season

I doubt very much that the team would take a chance on bringing him back too soon. I just wanted to see the approximate time frame. Realize none of you are doctors, but I'm guessing that we'll see him mid-season. If we do I'll be happy.

I would be shocked if he didn't play after the bye week, that being said I don't expect him to start immediately and to be the nickel corner on 3rd downs for the first few weeks to see how the knee reacts and the medical staff will either shut him down or he will start from there. The recovery for everyone is very different so I don't think the time tables would be the same for everyone everyone uses the AP example and he is super human or the Ryan Williams and him coming back too soon, but you also have the Derrick Rose situation and I think he waited to long and came back favoring the other leg too much and ended up blowing out his other knee. That and a DB generally does not have anywhere near the stress on the knees as a RB or a point guard would so as long as they don't have him returning kicks or punts he should be fine.

He is already doing on field actvities and running at the complex so I think he will be back by week 3 or 4. He is even backpedaling and coming out of breaks without a brace.

Given the severity (2 ligaments) & when the injury occurred, I think anything before the 2nd half of the season (at best) is a bad decision.

Watched a national geographic doc on honey badgers, and when I saw him never giving up and getting injured, it came to mind that he was perfectly nicknamed. In the wild, they are notorious for taking on all comers, and sometimes getting killed in the encounter.

I like Honey Badger much better than HB. My mind kept going to half back but I knew that wasn't right.
