Yes the defense is much improved over last year but our offense and special teams are horrible. I preach as much "opTIMism" on this board as anyone but we truly are a very bad football team right now. Can't run the ball, can't protect the ball (3 fumbles in the Red Zone no less), and can't score at all. It doesn't matter what the rest of the team does as without any offense we won't win any games. Atlanta won the game today becuase good teams find ways to win ugly games like this. We are nowhere near ready to win an NFL game with this pop warner excuse of an offense.
Right now our offense is TRULY OFFENSIVE. I done venting for now!!!!!

Go Cards/ America!

I don't think our special teams were horrible. What did they do wrong today?

I'm not going to let it hurt my feelings too much if the rest of the league is laughing at me. I want a win every week from these RedBirds but until that happens, I want to see progress towards that goal. The rest of the league can laugh away, ignore us, predict that we'll go 0 and 16, tell us we played a good game but came up short, whatever. I don't think it really matters.

Special Teams made ONE bad play today.

Thats all.

And how many good plays??? One good punt inside the 10, the other punts all go into endzone and net like 25 yards. When was the last time the Cardinals had a punt return for a touchdown or just a long punt return???? Yet every week the opposing teams break a decent one (punt/kick return)against us. Im just venting today so have patience with me- haha. We should of won 2day.

You must not watch any other NFL games. The Cardinals were ten point underdogs for this game and almost won it - only losing by 3. The defense has played exceptionally well and even tho the offense obviously has a long way to go, this team is much better than last year.

Yes they are- on defense. I have seen nothing from the offense/special teams to lead me to think we have improved. an 0-3 record is an 0-3 record-period. Falcons get a new coach and are 3-0. Giants get a new coach and are 2-1. Bears get a a new coach and are a respectable 1-2 with a great win in Lambeau. Cardinals get a new coach and same OLD RESULT- out of the playoff running by October 1st. Thats reality folks!

The Falcons played a terrible Niners team on the road, the road struggling Rams at home, and the Cards.

Hardly a list of 2004 playoff teams.

For some odd reason I think this team is better than a lot of the other no win teams.

Do any of the "other" winless teams have ZERO passing TDs through 3 games????? It's hideous! You can't sugercoat that stat. And im disgusted right now that another season is (for all purposes) is done again and the date is only Sept. 26th. Sorry guys im out of Kool Aid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This loss was tough to take, because victory was so tantatlizingly close. Now, think about that. We let a victory slip away on the road. We lost by an average of 27 points on the road last year.

I bet Chiefs' fans feel even worse than we do. All those high expectations and they're 0-3 like we are, and they choke one at home to the Texans.

Your right about two things. The offense is bad, and being 0-3 is lousy.

I still believe this team is moving in the right direction though. Our schedule has been brutal so far. just horrible.

Exactly Red. While they keep poppin' s***, and prdicting us to lose every game 50-3, we'll keep getting better and better. I never cared what the media thought of us because it's all negative anyway. Rare is the occasion that someone can write an honest piece without attempting to clown us.

Relax Tim it's just business as usual in Arizona.

With today's loss the team's winning percentage since opening kickoff 2002 is .346. .039 percentage points higher than the Arizona Diamondbacks.

We should all be proud.

Maybe being raised with the NY media has something to do with it. Out here there is no such thing as moral victories year in and year out. They dont stand for it as an excuse. Heck they get on the Yankees when they are in 1st place but the lead is only 5 or so games!- haha. Only in Arizona do we hire an offensive guru and get a defensive genious

You really expected the 4-12 Cards to turn it around this quickly? Green loses his top receiver and running back before the season starts and you expected the offense to improve? Green didn't have any depth to play with.
Did you really expect a win in St. Louis or over the Pats. In my opinion we outplayed Atlanta today and a kid making his whopping 6th start in the NFL turned the ball over and cost us the game. What a shock!

All I expected was at least 1 win, heck even just "1" passing touchdown in the entire month of September! Not asking a lot but honestly im happy so many of you are cool with what you are seeing from the Cardinals so far. For once I will ride "your" optimism! :hulk:

I have been rooting for this franchise since 1967. Rarely have I been happy with the team. Not happy now but didn't expect more at this point. I do believe Green will turn this team around in time. Some accountability for the players is refreshing. Green is letting them know they aren't getting a free ride.

How to maintain balance -

True, falling into the rut of accepting "moral victories" can drag a team down.

But taking a realistic look at what happened in a game involves pointing out the good things as well as the bad.

We are what we are. This week, we're 3 points less good than Atlanta.

Our defense played to Playoff standards.

Our special teams regressed.

Our offense continues to struggle.

I hate (I mean really hate) our offensive line.

And McCown for the second straight week found ways to turn over the ball.

So what we have is a team that keeps the score close, but hasn't yet found a way to get over the hump. I believe the answer lies in our defense continuing to play the way it's been playing, special teams returning to its earlier form and then for the offense to just get a little better. (It doesn't have to make a quantum leap - just a few less turnovers and fewer missed assignments). I think if we can hold the line on the way we play defensively and on special teams and just get a little better on offense, we won't be a Pro Bowl team, but we will start to win some games.

Incidently, why didn't Shelton play? I don't get it.

Well??????? The Cardinals really weren't that bad in St.Louis. And the Cardinals that stayed in St.Louis have won over 100 games this season so...... :D

Actually I'm fairly excited about the Cardinals having allowed the fewest points through the first 3 games of a season of any Cardinal team since 1977.
