I am pretty certain the NFL aint gonna like it when the new TV contract comes up for negotiations. Ratings have been steady dropping for a few years and the networks are taking the hits for it.
I for one, would like to see it go down. perhaps the owners will look in the mirror and see how foolish they were to extend that horrid commish

Networks are still making more money on the NFL than any other sport... or show period on TV. Don’t fool yourselves here. There will be a feeding frenzy no doubt and the money will
Still be massive.

oh I'm sure.
But the networks should take a page out of the leagues financial books...
have a contract without set numbers, that allows the networks to pay each year based upon a percentage of net revenues...you know, like how the players get 20% of league revenue?? Give the league 20% of advertising revenue based on the previous year.

Not quite how massive TV deals work. The NFL is in the position of power.

The Cards are currently 19.5M under the 2018 salary cap. Hardly enough to sign the holes that need to be filled and definitely not enough for the rebuild this team needs.

Possible cuts and cap savings.

Veldheer 7M
Iupati 6.3M
Mathieu 4.8M Although this is not a big savings it gets us out of a bad contract

If Mathieu is on the roster on the first day of the 2018 league year he will earn a $5 million roster bonus and guarantee his entire 2018 salary and $8 million of his 2019 salary

Bucannon has a 8.7M cap hit so should be able to save a few million by signing him to a long term contract.

AP has a 3.5M cap hit and with David Johnson returning he may be a luxury we can not afford.

That should free up about 45M in cap space and allow us to sign some free agents

If Palmer retires, which he should, we clear up $20M. He is the albatross of this team. I'm sorry, but he has no business being our starter next year. I appreciate everything he has done, but he is too old. If you're suggesting we keep him and cut Veldheer and Iupati so he can be a statue behind a lesser line, I don't get it.

Nope, $14M. In 2018 the Cardinals will be charged $6.625M for Palmer's pro-rated signing bonus whether he's on the team or not, plus $1.5M in bonus and $12.5M in salary if he's on the team.

Gabbert aint under contract next year is he??...

I would keep him...offer him the $3mil we pay Stanton...for 3 years...with a $1mil bonus... so, $10mil, 3 years, $4mil guaranteed...good backup pay, short term offers him the opportunity to renegotiate if he becomes the starter...$4mil guaranteed for him with limited risk for the team should they feel the need to dump him later

It was mentioned the cards will move to keep him, therefore is your saving more than slight?
