A writer** (no idea if this writer is Mitch -type or a real journalist) that covers the Jags suggested that Travon Walker could be dealt

Walker is the former #1 pick (ahead of Hutchinson) who has been very good but not great. 10 sacks last year, 6.5 so far this year. Signed through 2025 and with a fifth year option available.

Jags dont have a compelling cap reason to trade him now-- maybe (a giant maybe) they dont want to pay Josh Allen AND Walker at the same time, but if this were next year at this time i would get why they might want to trade him.

IF the Jags were up for it -- this would be an outstanding pick up (with commensurate draft pick comp needed).

Don't think they are open to trade him, but if they do they would ask a lot, he is still 23 and very productive

Arizona Cardinals (4-4)

The first-place Cardinals! After blowing out the Rams in Week 2, the Cards have won three games with late field goals, including last-second kicks in each of their past two contests. Kyler Murray is posting career-best marks in completion percentage, success rate as a passer, interception rate and sack rate. Rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. has been in and out of games from week to week, but Arizona's two- and three-tight-end sets have helped it protect Murray and run the football.

Given that the offense ranked 10th in EPA per play after Murray returned from injury last season, the bigger question was always about the defensive side of the ball. Jonathan Gannon's Eagles took a big step forward in his second season as D-coordinator in 2022, before Gannon became Arizona's coach last year, and while the Cardinals aren't about to rack up 70 sacks in a season, their pass defense is improving.

What to know for the 2025 NFL draft

Early mock drafts: Reid | Yates | Miller
Ranks: Kiper Big Board | Miller top 50
QB Hot Board | Position rankings
Projected order | Scouting evals | More

Safety Budda Baker & Co. ranked 32nd in QBR allowed a season ago and stayed in last place through the first four weeks of 2024, but they're up to 12th by the same metric over the past four games, which includes games against Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa. The defense still ranks last in third-down conversion rate over that stretch, but it has limited opposing offenses to six touchdowns on 15 trips inside the 20-yard line.

The Cardinals also have an obvious short-term need at edge rusher, where BJ Ojulari tore an ACL before the season. Dennis Gardeck, who had been part of the rotation on the edge, followed with his own ACL injury in the win over the Chargers. In a three-way tie for first place, Arizona shouldn't be shopping for a 2024 rental in the hopes of trying to squeak its way into a playoff spot. Can it land an edge rusher such as Azeez Ojulari or Harold Landry who can be part of the roster for years to come? That seems more reasonable.

The Cardinals also should be scouting their schedule. According to the FPI, they have played the league's toughest schedule so far. They face the third-easiest schedule from here on out.

The verdict: The Cardinals should add at the deadline.

Funny comment on Mitch.

Duval would be nuts to trade Walker.

You do not trade Budda, that is stupid. Hell, he is our defense and part of the solution. You trade a high pick for a pass rusher to establish that DL and our pick Robison because whether we like it or not lol... weez in the hunt

You do if you aren't going to extend him. If you're going to extend him, you might as well do it now.

If we're going to be active in free agency, we're not going to get any comp picks. Trading Budda for a 5th would likely be more than we get from a comp pick formula, anyway.

I think it would be stupid to trade him, or in your observation not extend him which would prompt one to trade him. Yeah, just a safety but he is the best defensive player on the D and every tackle seems to have him either accomplishing that or in the vicinity. When your defense is this lacking, you need to keep your best player if they serve as the heart of that side of the ball. If we had two studs removed from him, I could see the logic

Wondering if they are waiting until after Sunday's game to make a final decision? That doesn't give them much time with the deadline being November 5th and other teams possibly getting who they are targeting.

It could be. There are teams out there on the brink of becoming sellers. They too are waiting to see what happens Sunday.

As I posted above, some potential sellers will become abosute sellers after Sunday.
Lets see but can be viceversa
Cardinals must need one and selleris dictate the condition
Easy to see then monti saying they are pleased with the youngster they have

Funny comment on Mitch.
i feel compelled to say something in writing, in part because i suspect Mitch still looks. I think Mitch contributed to the board.

my reference to him was a shorthand we all would get.

Someone who writes stuff on websites they would like to see happen but frames it as reporting............... vs a journalist who reports stuff based on what credible sources tell them

there are countless team devoted websites filled with the former, and it gets passed around the internet
