I would be okay with that. Clowney is a good edge defender. Even on an absolutely horrible Panthers defense he still have an okay pass rush win rate, and he ranks #1 among all edge rushers in run stop win rate according to ESPN’s metric. And he is only one year removed from a very good season (he ended tied with T.J. Watt for 4th best in the same pass rush metric).

I would be okay with that. Clowney is a good edge defender. The reason I think it would take a 4th is his contract. Clowney is under contract for another season and the rest of this season would be for peanuts and then roughly 8.8M for next season.

For a solid starting DE, that is cheap
