I've read a lot recently regarding several bands making comebacks....Some of what was deemed at one time as being completely improbable....

I will eventually be posting specific threads dedicated to each as they may materialize....

One rumor.. which it seems to have been confirmed by many sources is that Phoenix's rock-n-roll brothers Cris and Curt Kirkwood have reformed the Meat Puppets, but absent is original drummer Derrick Bostrom.. Instead, Primus' drummer, Tim Alexander has taken his place.. Bostrom was invited back, but he declined..unfortunately, Alexander is currently on tour w/Primus, which will delay the recording process...

Also, Phil Collins is rumored to be returning back to Genesis along with Banks and Rutherford... Peter Gabriel was approached about him possibly coming back.. he said he wouldnt at the moment, but he did hint he might at some time or another....

Graham Coxon might be returning back to Blur after leaving the band during the recording sessions for "Think Tank" (he left in '02) for what might be their last album......

Even some word of the Kinks recording a new album which would include their bassist, Peter Quaife for the first time since '68's "Village Green Preservation Society" album....

Of course..as always.. there's the David Lee Roth and Van Halen going back to the studios to record a new album, but the odds of that happening are similar to Slash and Axl Rose ever recording together again....

If all of these do happen, it can have such a major profound impact on the music industry, that it would be unreal.....

That one isn't a rumor, Genesis (with Collins, no Gabriel or Hackett) has already announced that they will begin touring in June of 2007.

PLEASE<PLEASE, don't EVER let Roth on a stage again.
They need to go in a new direction.
I've seen the "reicarnated" Roth and he sucks!

I could care less about any reunion.
The only reason for a reunion is to try and make money from what was done in the past.
Move on and create something new by yourself or fade away.
How many remakes / reunions do we need? Enough already!

Gotta honestly say, foir those that never saw the, the playting on the Cream reunion dvd was excellent.
I know Baker has stayed asctive, playing, and Clapton certainly done need the jam.
But I agreee, to an extent.
Take tesla, good reunion album, new stuff, good sound, so that doesn't always fly.
Deep Purple Bananas was a great lp, so was the second they did after.
When a band gets back and just gets out there for money, Im with ya, But ya gotta get back out some how and people will play to hear the old hits. Mix some new stuff in and get hopping again.

If the fans enjoy it then reunions are alright. The thing that sucks is when 1 or 2 guys in a band have a "reunion" using the original band's name but most of the original members don't participate. That's not really the same band.

That's hilarious you mentioned that.. Just prior to moving out here, restaurant would give away free vouchers to attend some concerts and most were 60s/70s bands that were "reuniting"....And in one instance it was Blue Oyster Cult, April Wine, and some other band from around that time.. Between the 3, I could swear there were only 3-4 original members still active... it's quite sad... and I resent the trend of Paul Rogers/Queen and that lame singer who's "replacing" Layne Staley in AIC.... And in most of those bands.. they've gone thru 20 line-ups over the years... and the age ranges from 29 (they werent born when that band formed) playing along with the original member who's now in his 60s.. it quite comical to me....

I wont discuss the Kinks in this thread since I went into length on the one specifically dedicated to them....

In case of Blur... Graham Coxon parted because of personal/creative differences he had with the rest of the band.. has recorded some phenomonal solo work...Damon Albarn has struck gold with the Gorillaz and now "the Good, the Bad, and the Queen" (I will post a thread about them soon) and they still can generate some of the best songs together... They didnt have true closure and more than likely the next album would be their last, but better than how the parted ways during the "Think Tank" sessions...

I just wish the Rolling Stones would stop touring/recording newer albums since theyve been in quite a rut for over the past cpl decades....

Cream's reunion was worth the wait and lord... was Roger Waters performinh w/Floyd during Live 8 something special to witness... I wanted the Who to stop playing together, but hearing Daultrey and Townshend still churning out nothing but masterpieces wants me to yearn for more......

On what river said. that's usually cats justtrying to dig up some doe.
On the oyher hand, take the who's new lp. Great stuff. Yhe mini opera is a bit redndant and testing, but I think tey're planning for the future.
Point-some do it for the money, others are just disp[laying long controlled creative talents, due to that previously mentioned reunion.
