Combustion engines require an electrical spark plug. There is nothing electrical when you fire a bullet. So I'm not sure what you are getting at. The whole concept of the show is that anything that requires any kind of electricty won't work. Hence why they were using steam engines to move equipment as opposed to a combustion engine.

By the way the show is fiction as in it isn't real. Once you accept that the show becomes much more enjoyable.

Batteries don't need electricity, and work on simple chemical reaction. Batteries don't work, but gunpowder does. Just one of the many, many contradictions that made the show epically bad--and made me stop watching.

Willing suspension of disbelief is awesome. I use it all the time in most of what I read and watch. Willing suspension of disbelief does NOT, however, excuse laziness in writing and gaping plot holes.

I have/had a problem with what you're talking about but the one consitancy is all batteries stop working. There is something that no one gets about the amulets(viewers included). Maybe batteries still work but somehow the amulets block the transfer of energy... Different strokes though...

It's not that the batteries don't work, it's that the electricity required to exchange the power is blocked.

At least, that's what I'm going with going forward.

Right...so the payoff is either 'it's magic', or it's a major, idiotic plot hole. And I'd hate a 'ta da! it's magic!' explanation.

You don't need electricity to 'exchange the power'; batteries use a simple chemical process to create power.

I would never watch this show, but this thread rules. Don't batteries create the electricity with the chemical process like steam engines would?

The flow of energy stops somehow. We the viewers don't know how and we may never. There is no way that I know of to stop dams from producing energy unless you stop the flow of water which isn't the case. It is a much bigger scenario then batteries. I'm not an electrician so I could be very wrong. If that's the case I'm sure someone will enlighten me by tomorrow.

The steam engines for locomotives are just big boilers that create steam which causes pressure to move pistons. There is no electricty involved with that type of steam engine.

My daughter reminded me that the new season started on Monday. Pretty good first episode for the season. Looks like we get to find out what is causing the power outage next week.

I've liked what I've seen so far with the two episodes after the hiatus.

I'm not sure if I really like them though, of if it's the fact that everything looks better considering that my wife still has us watching The Following.

I don't know if this is the stupidest show on television or the best. I generally flip-flop two or three times per episode. There are more plot holes than it would take to fill Albert Hall yet the show is very entertaining nonetheless. Is anyone else watching this hot mess?

I am enjoying it and think the over the top is part of the fun. It is interesting how the show is evolving. I am also excited they renewed it for one more season.

My daughter and I are still watching it. We both really enjoy it. It definitely has a "Lost" feel to it now. Even the musical score sounds like they pulled it from "Lost" at times or at least it's the same guy who is composing it.

I just assumed that the first 10 episodes were season one and the second 10 were season 2 since there was a 4 month gap in between the two. But I guess they were all part of season 1.

EDIT, my last comment was wrong.

When NBC ordered a full season, it was assumed that there would be a total of 22 episodes. This isn't the case, however, because NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt says that there were only 20 episodes ordered in total. In order for the show to be a total success, "Revolution" was going to have to start at least a couple weeks later.

I have to admit the show is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I like much of the cast but have to agree with the sometimes huge plot holes. However, the dynamic of the characters and the sort of mesh of many other type shows (Jericho, Lost, etc..) type feel keeps me interested.
