I think people are misunderstanding what actually happened on that play. What's the upside for the Cards if Peterson tackles Lynch on that play? The Seahawks score a couple of plays later? What's the difference--you're down by three scores.

We saw this stuff two years ago when a defense has immense pressure put on it by a toothless offense--the defenders start pressing to force turnovers (Peterson here was going for a strip)--and the results are bigger plays for the offense that don't matter.

I agree it always blows my mind all the crap the defense takes after these losses. They gave up some big plays bit it didn't freaking matter, the second the other team scores more than 3 points against the cardinals; the game is over.

When the offense goes 3 and out EVERY SERIES, it's only a matter of time before the defense caves, it is flat out inevitable.

I'm just sick of the fact anytime he does something good - a few posters say so. Any time he does something vaguely wrong - double digit numbers start criticising him.

Let them hate, bro. I'm laying on the couch watching some meaningless bowl game and the bottom line already has the Cards/9ers game time next Sunday on it. It even shows Logan Thomas to be the starter... how can I not look forward to that!!

As Duckjake always used to say 'You gotta love Cardinal football'

Go Cards

Sherman is a mega-troll. Everything he says is meant to fire someone else up and draw focus from the Seahawks. He is definitely the "bad guy" on that team because all the others are hard core players, but none of them go out of their way to troll the rest of the NFL, especially NFCW teams.

Peterson might not be the current best in the NFL, but the stick he gets is insane. As barely anyone has mentioned he plays in a completely different situation to Sherman. Every single time PP does something slightly wrong he gets shredded. Sherman got beat over the top to Floyd yesterday. If that was PP many on here would be stating what an overrated player he is.

There aren't many other CBs I'd rather have than PP. For an 11 win team, Cards fans sure don't act like it.
He's the one that dub'd himself the best in the NFL...He is SUPPOSED to be good.

It stands out because he has been slightly above average...

As much as I despise SHERMAN he backs up his talk...Peterson, not so much.

This and when he is trying to strip the ball on Lynch instead of tackle him because he knows our offense sucks with our fourth string QB he is called soft, I am very happy he is a Cardinal

Patrick Peterson is not a technically sound as Revis or Sherman which is why he lines up off the LOS most times. It makes it easier for him to take false steps and allows him more time to diagnose the play/route.

Sherman benefits from playing mostly a zone scheme, but he plays much more agressively than the scheme asks him to. Very rarely do you see CBs with deep 3rd coverage playing jam at the LOS.

However you want to rank them, they are all pretty good. Peterson is just much less refined as a player, and will need to personally step up his game if he wants to continue to progress.

He plays aggressive at the LOS because he has a stud at safety from the University of Texas :D

Peterson is proving to be the most overrated DB in the NFL. Sherman's still the best.

sherman does his share of trash talk, but it's never obscene or abusive in any way. He's actually one of the classiest players in the NFL. He's a great role model both on and off the field.

BS, his first couple of seasons he proved he was a top CB in this league.

Then he got paid.
He's showing all the signs of the typical "contract year" guy.

We'll see his true talent again in a few years, hopefully it's not the Cards giving him his next shipload of $$.

I really thought all the banter with PP and Sherman would motivate him to earn his money.
Apparently not.

Sherman is the poster child for narcissistic personality disorder. Great role models don't go around telling others how worthless they are, regardless of how much more successful they believe they are. Donald Trump does the same crap. Look how many people hate him.

Yeah, people who do that are , deep down, very insecure about themselves and driven by fear. But, channeled properly, with talent, it can also drive someone to greatness. IDK much about Sherman, but I bet he works extremely hard on and off the field. It would fit perfectly with the persona he displays publicly.

You can't be considered the top CB in the league if you are taking years off. I don't recall any CB called the "best" in the league taking years off that is equivalent of the piss poor play we have seen out of him this year.

You all need to relax he has had an off year, he is still a top CB in the NFL. Next season we can all talk about the off year he had in 2014 and laugh. He is the least of our problems on this team geesh...

I actually don't think Peterson is "taking the year off". I don't doubt that his desire to dominate is there. But, he just can't seem to make the connection between his physical talents and the mental side of the game. He relies too much on his athletic ability, rather than using his brain to get him into the right position.

CB has become, IMO, the most difficult position to excel at in the NFL outside of QB. The rules are totally bent against the position. It's getting rarer and rarer to see CBs who are even close to "shut down" Twenty years ago... Peterson would've been dominant and there would've been no questioning it.

I looked up their Wonderlic scores and found that (allegedly) Sherman scored 24 and Peterson 9. Relevant??

Wow, Didn't know he had done that poorly. You can get a 9 by basically just spelling your name right.

Peterson was never that great a CB, he was decent and because of his athleticism and kick off and punt return ability, people assumed he's a shut down CB as well.

Peterson should go back to returning kicks and punts, that's where he does the best.
