Interesting that TM made the list and not PP. PP is very good, but he has some growing left to do..

Agree that PP is good but still has room for improvement to deserve that elite CB title that some want to just give to him. The numbers don't lie. Just because you like a player and he wears the colors of your favorite team doesn't mean he is the best player.

Some more stats for those who have an open mind to learn where PP (or any other DB) stands in relation to the rest of the leauge. These stats are compiled by NFL.com and include all defensive backs with an emphasis on Tackles. Those who don't care for PFF can now whine about NFL.com. Combine these stats with all the passing-related stats from PFF and you have a good idea how a given DB/CB would fit in your scheme and succeed.

Why do you dislike pp21 enough to argue against him for 5 pages?

Early on I stated that I thought PP was a good player and I am glad that he is a Cardinal. But I also like to deal in reality. I watch the games and I see PP for what he is. There are plenty of other fans who do not automatically buy the hype from either the media or the player himself and still cheer for the player.

I'll bow out on this thread. You're right about trying to maintain a debate over several pages. It soon becomes a rehash of what has already been said early in the discussion. There is nothing more I can add when the response to the stats are 'that's my story and I'm sticking to it.' Well, I've provided my stats and I'm sticking to them as well. Direct all whines about the stats to either PFF or NFL.com.

I guess the term elite would have to be defined.

Top 5? Top 10?

Now that would be interesting, getting a top 10 CB from some people.

Not sure what you are trying to say with the stats on NFL.com, but it does show that Earl Thomas is a flippin' beast. Fun to scroll through.

That and a guy named Tashaun Gipson had 5 INTs last year. Seriously, I watched at least 4 Browns games last year, and never heard of him.

regardless of pffs stat analysis, sherman PP and haden are the best in the league. Id take any in a heartbeat over any others.

Geez, if we wanted to read PFF we can do that, modern technology is a beautiful thing. To see it spammed over and over again, just makes me laugh. :D

I'm not a big stats person, I don't think they tell the full story. Most fans realize that also but a few take them to heart and treat them like gospel. I don't think that's what happened here but I find it interesting that so many people are just dismissing them out of hand. PFF gets referenced in a lot of threads here and it usually garners a little more respect than this. I don't buy into the DRC comparisons but I agree with the idea that PP is overrated. He's shown flashes of being a great corner but teams don't target shutdown corners like they do PP.

Gimmetheballs doesn't sound like a Cardinals fan at all the more I read his posts.

weak dawg. You should be able to question a Cards player without having your fandom called into question.

Should I email PFF as an apology? :p I think that's all he wants.

No. But you might consider discussing the merits of his position instead of your current approach. Just a suggestion. We all get caught up in an argument sometimes.

I tried to talk football, but all he does is post and recite pro football, very frustrating. :D But I am sorry, so there's the apology.
