Long Island Newsday reports the New York Yankees have acquired Randy Johnson from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a three-team deal.

Javier Vazquez, Dioner Navarro and Eric Duncan will go to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The D-backs get Shawn Green, Brad Penny and Yhency Brazoban from the Dodgers.

Both Johnson and Green have no-trade clauses. Johnson is expected to waive his, while Green's former agent, Jeff Moorad, is now a D-backs executive and is expected to follow suit.

So he's a strong armed reliever? I could live with that. I kinda wish it was another starter but oh well

You know... this is probably a bit harsh.

But, I hope Randy suddenly develops a case of old man's disease.

Same with Richie Sexson. Don't check that swing, Richie.

I'm all about the team. If you don't want to play here... screw you.

Thanks for the years, Randy.

Now, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

I knew about Brad Penny (whom I like alot BTW). I wanted 2 starting pitchers for him.

Instead we get a proven starter, an outfielder that is somewhat of an unknown, and a strong armed reliever. Like I said I can live with that (especially considering the circumstances)

Shawn Green may play 1st base for us. I assume we are going to get another starter ....

Did the Dodgers get the raw end of the deal here?

A middle line-up of:

Gonzo
Glaus
Green

is pretty decent... if Gonzo can return to form

I always thought it was weird that Shawn Green wore a helmet in the field.

I just put on KTAR, however, my educated guess was that they could have been referring to the deal last year that brought Penny to the Dodgers from the Marlins....

Lord, I really love this deal, and if the Dbacks can add now a power hitting 1B and a LH starting pitcher....Wow... they'll be contenders in the NL West.... I still expect to see Hillenbrand to be dealt by the wknd......

I like Penny a lot more then I do Vazquez and Yhency Brazoban is going to be a stud real soon as a setup man. Lets just hope Green can return to his 40+ HR self, and playing at our ballpark I think he can.

Many wondered why the Los Angeles Dodgers traded Guillermo Mota to Florida. After all, Mota is arguably the best setup man in baseball. In 105 innings out of the pen last season, he fanned 99, picked up 13 holds, and posted a 1.97 ERA. More of the same followed this season, as Mota had a 2.14 ERA and 17 holds when he was dealt.

So, once again, why would the Dodgers trade Mota away while not acquiring a bullpen arm to replace him?

Yhency Brazoban is why.

Brazoban, 24, was one of the better relief prospects in the Dodgers system. In 51 innings for AA Jacksonville, Brazoban closed 13 games, allowed 38 hits, walked 22 and fanned 61. That earned him a promotion to AAA Las Vegas, where in 12.1 innings, he allowed 14 hits, one walk, and struck out 17. Brazoban, who consistently throws between 94 and 97, has given up three hits and a run in 4.2 innings since being promoted to the bigs. He’s walked none and struck out three.

Dodgers general manager Paul DePodesta recently told ESPN’s Peter Gammons that Brazoban “could be an important part of our bullpen down the stretch.” Brazoban appears ready to be useful bullpen arm, and he could develop into an elite setup man within a few years. Owners looking for holds, strikeouts, ERA, or WHIP should claim Brazoban. He’s definitely an intriguing player for dynasty leaguers with deep rosters.
